Ayurveda will help maintain women's health. Preparing for conception

In this post, I decided to collect a lot of questions and answers scattered across the comments to different posts. I deliberately bypass women's topics, since there can be many questions, and I cannot offer treatment, since I am not a doctor.

But with the presence of such a post on the website, it will be a little easier - everything will be collected in one place, for now in one post, maybe later there will be a section specifically about women's issues.

I repeat - there will be no treatment, there will only be an explanation of the reasons from the point of view of Ayurveda (in a simplified interpretation), general direction. Also sometimes explanations from TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) will be added - sometimes these explanations are shorter and more clearly explain the problem.

The most common problem that is being asked about is amenorrhea (delay or absence of menstruation).

If this is a long-term or regularly recurring condition, then most often it is a violation

It is precisely the women of such a constitution who most often complain about this problem. For some of them, menstruation is absent for several years, especially for those who are raw foodists, fruitarians. Girls firmly believe that this one, supposedly, healthy lifestyle life, help them. It works very well when everything is in order, when when (digestive fire) is high, when not
Amenorrhea can be with others (current state).

With amenorrhea, vata-vikriti works well with warm - you need to soak the fabric, apply it on lower part belly, cover with parchment paper (not film), then with a towel. Douching with warm sesame oil also works well.

Since there are almost always vata imbalances, in this case, special attention should be paid to

If amenorrhea is caused by cold (and), then hot spices and preparations are definitely needed: black pepper, red () pepper, mixture, fennel myrrh, ashwagandha, shatavari.

Most often with amenorrhea is lowered hormonal background. Whether you will take the hormones prescribed by your doctor is up to you. But some foods and plants are very good at maintaining the correct level of hormones. The phytohormones they contain (analogues female hormones) have been used for centuries to treat disorders menstrual cycle, treatment of symptoms of menopause and infertility in different systems recovery.

Phytohormones are not true hormones, but phyto (i.e. plant) steroids (a group of compounds that are similar in structure) that form the basis for the production of many human hormones and often act like hormones in the body. There are at least 57 known phytosteroids (found in foods and plants).

Phytohormones are present in wheat germ, barley, rice, wild yam, garlic, coconut, pomegranate, cherries, apples, carrots, apples, beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, dates, pomegranates (choose what does not contradict the food list for yours).

The food champion is broccoli.

Phytohormones are contained in vegetable oils:

grape seed oil, avocado oil, pumpkin seed oil, linseed oil (choose oil depending on the recommendations for your vikriti)

Phytohormones are contained in essential oils:

primrose, jojoba, geranium, jasmine, sage, anise, fennel. Solutions with a few drops of essential oil can be used for douching and packing. As a rule, they do not cause adverse reactions.

Shatavari, angelica (also known under other names - angelica, angelica, tang quai (dong quai), female ginseng, hogweed), highlander (), dashamul, sage, musta, tansy, motherwort, ginseng, flax seeds, hops , linden flowers, St. John's wort, red clover, alfalfa, shepherd's purse, motherwort, yarrow,

All these supposedly simple and harmless plants have contraindications for use. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find information about this in the Russian-speaking sector of the Internet. The sellers of the goods mainly write about the drugs, and it is unprofitable for them that someone doubts and does not buy the goods, so the minimum is reported.

A very monthly remedy for all conditions - this is in an amount of up to 2-3 tbsp. l. per day, you need to take a short period, before the expected menstruation, after the onset, reduce the dose, no more than 1 tbsp. l. in a day. I have contraindications - planned. Turmeric acts as a contraceptive and should be stopped 3 cycles before the planned fertilization.

Saffron is also recommended for amenorrhea. This is a very expensive spice, for which the ignorant give out turmeric powder (it is also called Indian saffron). So, if you are going to buy saffron, carefully study how it should look and if it is suspiciously cheap compared to market prices, it is most likely a fake. In principle, saffron cannot be confused. It is sold for several stamens in boxes, for 1 gram - $ -5-10 ..

Well, among those who consulted, I also had practicing therapists and homeopathic doctors. What makes them seek alternative methods if it works, what do they do?

And the last nail in the lid was an acquaintance with the book by Asya Kazantseva “Someone is wrong on the Internet! Scientific research on controversial issues” - and there is literally the first chapter “Homeopathy has no side effects!” - just about homeopathy, with all sorts of scientific research and opinions. Asya is accused of the fact that a young journalist cannot understand such serious issues. But the author has collected a lot of interesting things, based on the study of which there is a little light at the end of the tunnel.

If you are interested, you can look, the book is online. There's a lot of fun in there.

Asya Kazantseva does not claim scientific titles, she is simply interested in many things and loves to understand information.

Admirers and defenders of homeopathy - do not waste your energy on proving here on my site the usefulness of this method. As I wrote at the beginning - if you believe, then whatever you do will help.

Ayurveda is a healthy lifestyle in accordance with its constitution. Homeopathy is based not on the constitution, but on other parameters (I honestly don’t know which ones). So these are different directions, not interfering with each other.

Thank you! I understand with homeopathy. And thanks for Asya Kazantsev, I looked through it - and it’s true that she has a good analysis of homeopathy in the first chapter, I haven’t looked further.

I had another problem too frequent cycle preceded by a feisty PMS. In reality, from the age of 12 to 28, every month (with rare exceptions) I fell out of life for 1-2 days. She lay in bed and drank painkillers in handfuls. I called an ambulance several times, I thought I was dying :)) It got to the point that regular pills stopped helping, switched to painkillers injections .. Only Ayurveda saved me! For the past few years, I have practically forgotten about the problem that has been with me for 16 years.

P.S. Lina, your son looks very good.

    Aigul,
Thank you for sharing your truly rare experience.

And thanks for my son! Like any normal mother, I can't stop looking at my child :)

Firstly, I finally did the cleansing - almost everything as you recommended (with small indulgences) - but it didn't hurt, it worked, it's true. :)

Before the cleansing, knowing about the signs of ama, my biggest concern was the tongue. He was my freak. The fig would be with a touch, but it was all shabby in places (as they also call it “geographical”). I don’t even remember if I ever had another language? ..

I saw somewhere that it could be individual norm. In general, at some point I sadly thought that I could live with this, what can you do, but ..

After 1.5 months strict diet, cleansing, taking drugs of all that Lina gave me in the Recommendations, I could not believe my eyes - a pink, uniform, clean and beautiful tongue! Just a fairy tale! Needless to say, I didn’t have any swelling, rumblings and other things at that time?

I chose the drugs myself, Lina did not prescribe anything to me, constantly emphasizing that she was not a doctor, but she gave very detailed explanations for many drugs.

The only thing is that during this time the chair could not be normalized - constipation sometimes alternated with diarrhea. Maybe it will sound funny now, but I once thought: “Maybe it’s not purely physiology to blame, but it’s in my head? ..” It happened that I was in a hurry somewhere, I had a lot to remember, literally “ keep to yourself,” and suddenly the desire to go to the toilet just disappears. And when I let go of everything and stop being nervous, then the urge is right there, and everything is lightning fast (sorry for such details, but this possible connection surprised me at that moment).

So I, being Pitta Vata(well, or Vata-Pitta, can doshas change places depending on any events?), I clearly felt it myself Golden Rule AYURVEDIC LIFESTYLE. Not an Ayurvedic diet, not Ayurvedic herbs, not yoga or pranayama, but in general the whole thing, especially the contents of the head and heart, i.e. thoughts and feelings.

Of course, actions in the form of eating, taking some funds, etc. give results, but without a radical change in lifestyle, this is all very unreliable and unstable. But this is not a matter of a couple of months, of course. This is probably the real deal of life.

I would like to note, by the way, that during this period (it is still surprising to me how I carried out these procedures without the slightest deviation, but, as one of my teachers at the institute said: “If you want to live, you won’t get so upset”) I was not drawn at all for all sorts of sweets, cakes, nuts, etc.

No, of course, the first couple of weeks were not easy. But this is, rather, out of habit, moreover, out of habit, which is only in the head. Then everything went like clockwork: in the store you take only this, cook only this, eat only this, the rest is not for you.

In the end, I even felt sad when I realized that it was time to include other foods in the diet. It's one thing to eat rice and beans, it's another thing to understand, albeit a small, but still a variety of products for doshas.

And just in time for the end of the cleansing with the diet, there was a visit to my grandmother for her birthday. You represent yourself. Although, oddly enough, I did not touch the dishes on the table, I limited myself to a couple of what I cooked myself. But still, do not kitchari.

And it’s like some other universe: while I lived on my own, I kept the regime, but when I ended up in the family, how everything was devastated inside, it’s very difficult to keep my rhythm. It was almost a month ago.

So I still can't go back to new habits. It reassures, firstly, that in the early stages old habits can return, there is nothing wrong with that. Secondly, I have lived like this for almost 30 years and I want everything to change dramatically in a couple of months. That doesn't happen.

A lot of things need to be figured out in practice in order to understand exactly how it works for you.

For example, I realized that for my constitution, 2 months of a strict diet and parallel cleansing is too much. In some places I even met that a month of such a regimen is recommended for Kapha. Kapha! Month! But not Pitt, and even more so not Vata.

As a result, my weight became 41 kg, my periods did not come. Figs would be with weight, but the menstruation alerted me. So I would also sit on the same kitchari with castor oil, honestly.

Now, unfortunately, I often eat somehow somehow again, sometimes something inedible slips through, but you already clearly feel and see the body's reaction to it, a healthy reaction. He doesn't like it, he doesn't like it.

For some reason, I thought that to pollute the body, you need to spend time. Not true. This is to make times spit. I spent a month and a half on cleansing, and in 3 weeks I again acquired the same problems. That's how quickly everything collapses. But these are all experiments, trials, necessary experience.

Gradually you learn what and how works for you. And that's great. :) It's not easy to get used to, yes. Like new shoes: the old one has already worn out, the new one has not yet been broken in. So you go, you break it in.

True, I am always busy - in the morning to drink triphala, a spoonful of gelatin with ginger tea, do an eye massage, pack food for work, brew tea from spices in a thermos, in the evening - triphala for the morning, soak nuts overnight (and sometimes mash for kitchari), if possible, gymnastics, before going to bed - massage of the face, ears, heads and feet (done very quickly, faster than it seems), during the day - a few pills from the selected drugs. This is without yoga, pranayama and other techniques from Eastern systems recovery, which Lina gives in the recommendations. Like what do they have to do with Ayurvedic consultations? But Lina correctly writes that when restoring health, all means are good, and she herself has been using all these techniques for many years.

Is it heavy? It's hard, but I think it's a matter of habit, nothing more.

Plus, over time, everything in my head will settle down, it will be easier to manage it, it seems to me.

I even went to my grandmother for the weekend, packed capsules, spices, powders into boxes. I measured what I needed and took it. It's even calmer when everything is with you. :) They didn't take almost any place, by the way.

Separately, I want to say about tastes. At first, it was completely incomprehensible information for me. It seems that everything is written in Russian, the products are listed, but .. BUT. All 6 flavors in one meal. Unreal! It's real, in fact, and easier than ever. :) The task is also simplified by the fact that usually the product has several tastes.

For example, I cooked myself breakfast:
quinoa with stewed green apple, pomegranate seeds, sprinkled with cinnamon and seasoned with ghee, plus chicory with ginger as a drink. Here you have sweet, and sour, and bitter, and astringent, and spicy tastes. Well, no salt, okay.

The neighbor kept wondering: “And you don’t have heartburn?! And I have heartburn from apples!” Yes, from apples, of course, fried sausages and daily pies with condensed milk are not to blame, only apples. :)

By the way, during the diet, I fell in love with the bitter taste. When I first tried chicory a few years ago, I spat, what a disgusting thing, how can you drink it at all. Now - bliss, one of the most delicious drinks for me. It’s a pity that the enamel stains, I had to stop using it.

I wrote so much, it's even a little uncomfortable. But I really wanted to share the joy of the discoveries of Ayurveda in practice. It's just something amazing. And what, most importantly, is a logical and beautiful system! It seems that this love is now for life. :)

Now I'm looking for a body workout. I want to try tai chi. Looked like pole dance (pole dance) for 3 months. Now I have decided to stop. Maybe I could train, of course .. Or maybe I wouldn’t be able to. Everything was hard for me there, consider strength exercises with a gymnastic apparatus plus endurance. I have no strength or stamina. Flexibility is more than enough, I curl up into a ball, that's where my triumph ends. And at least once to pull up is just torture. I thought that I would gain a little strength for myself, but in the end I leave what I have there. :)

    Another question arose.
Why do some unhealthy people maybe there is no coating on the tongue? After all, there is ama in illness, so how can such an important sign of it be absent? For example, neither my parents nor my grandparents have practically any plaque, but they suffer from all sorts of sores one way or another. And I don’t have sores as such, but what a raid there was.

  • Lina:
    -

    Vasilisa,
thanks for taking the time and sharing your experience. This may be of help to readers who have begun to get acquainted with Ayurveda.

Geographic language always indicates gastrointestinal problems. After a short time of putting your digestion in order, your tongue returned to normal. Pure language is an indicator. What was required to be achieved.

“The only thing is that during this time the chair could not be normalized - constipation sometimes alternated with diarrhea. Maybe it will sound funny now, but I once thought: “Maybe it’s not purely physiology to blame, but it’s in my head? ..” It happened that I was in a hurry somewhere, I had a lot to remember, literally “ to keep in myself, ”and suddenly the desire to go to the toilet just disappears. And when I already let go and stop being nervous, then the urge is right there, and everything is lightning fast (sorry for such details, but this possible connection surprised me at This moment)".

“So you figured it all out yourself. I want - I empty myself, I want - I keep it in myself. In a calm environment, everything happens naturally. If, however, a person jumps in the morning and rushes to work, then the body that has not had time to wake up has not yet been able to start the intestines, a stopper appears in the brain “Then, now is not the time, there will be no toilets in the subway.” So it stays in itself either until work, or right up to returning home.

For many, such constipation occurs on trips - everything is wrong, someone else's toilet, strangers are nearby. With close living of several people in one apartment, half of the residents may have constipation. I remember many Moscow apartments - a toilet next to the kitchen, some have lunch, and cannonades come from the toilet. Horror!

Of course, the person tried to keep everything in himself until the right moment came, when finally everyone dispersed from the kitchen.

At the consultations, by the way, several people talked about this particular scenario of constipation - living in a communal apartment with big amount people, moving to the spouse's family, where everyone also lived on each other's heads.
    ——————-

“Then everything went like clockwork: in the store you take only this, cook only this, eat only this, the rest is not for you.

    - for sure, when there is a regime that you follow, then a lot is simplified 0 and this is not necessary, and this. Simple food, simple life bring harmony. No need to bother yourself with these cooking, shopping, eating "cakes" and dealing with the consequences of these eating. Just don't eat these "cakes" and that's it. Not because you forbid yourself, but because you don’t want to. By the way, craving for sweets most often shows a fungal invasion. When cleansing, the level of fungi decreases, and indifference to sweets appears.
    ———-

“As a result, my weight became 41 kg, my period did not come. Figs would be with weight, but the menstruation alerted me. So I would also sit on the same kitchari with castor oil, honestly.”
    - Well, you overdid it. You had an explanation in the Recommendations on what to do when weight loss is in progress - follow the recommendations for.
    ———————–

    “Another question arose.

    - but who knows why there is no raid. As far as I can tell from counseling experience - people almost always have a tongue without a coating - a constitution with a good one There are problems, but there is no coating. But when examining such a tongue without a raid, an experienced specialist will still talk about all the problems.

  • Vasilisa mrb:
    -

Yes, I also thought about that, suddenly someone comment can help. Because I was helped by people's feedback on posts about their own experience.

I overdid it with weight, of course, but at that time I lived without scales and without a normal mirror, and dangling pants from time to time are a common thing. So just the loop got me thinking. And having reached the mirror and the scales - baa, it's time to stop. :) A lesson for the future.

You know, my father is the purest Pitta, he just got off the description of the dosha. And how he eats, WHAT he eats .. And at least henna! I'll never be able to do that. And after all, everything really burns like in an oven, even if you put nails on a plate. Sores, of course, a lot, but still does not look like an exhausted sufferer.

So yes, most likely, an Ayurvedic doctor would know better about languages. :)

    Vasilisa,
I also have a distant relative, under 90. All her life she is such that everyone would have died out long ago after similar nutrition. For example, she cooks a pot of soup and eats it for a week (without putting it in the refrigerator). The smell of this week-long soup makes it impossible to enter the kitchen.

But if you try to pour it out or take away this pot, it will stand up for him with a mountain. Her relatives have stopped fighting this, they only complain to me on the phone.

And nothing takes this granny. Nails would be made of these people!

Lina, hello! Please help me figure it out. I did not find an answer in my consultation. Became 2nd month sharply painful ovulation on the right and then the right ovary hurts until the end of the cycle. The ultrasound said everything was fine. I am treated with herbs, I drink shatavari, turmeric. But I don't know which dosha to balance.

  • Lina:
    -

    Svetlana,
not everything is explained by aligning the doshas.
More often women's problems are due to hormonal imbalance. Inflammation due to viruses, bacteria, fungal invasion, cooling, accumulation of cold in the reproductive organs can also provoke deterioration.

  • Svetlana sv:
    -

Lina, thanks! Yes, modern medicine prescribes hormones, but I really don’t want to take them) Probably in Ayurveda they can be replaced with natural plant hormones, right? And if you can tell me, please, are there any other ways to increase heat in the organs, except general procedures(bath, bath) and warming spices - for example, kidney massage will help here?

  • Lina:
    -

    Svetlana,
judging by what you wrote in the previous question, “I did not find an answer in my consultation,” you consulted with me. So in the Recommendations you should have information about phytohormones and the fight against the cold of the body.

True, if your consultation was a long time ago, then many materials may be missing from you, since I am constantly updating the Recommendations. But in principle, there are no secrets, everything is on the Internet. There is little mention of this on the site, only in the “Plants” section.

something about natural hormones was in the article

Regarding the coldness of the body - if you consulted - you should have all this in the Recommendations.

    Svetlana,
if you do not have any necessary materials - write to me personally, through a request on the site and we will discuss with you.

  • Svetlana sv:
    -

Lina, if I may have another question at once. I have bad bile discharge (twisted and inflamed bile, aggressive bile accumulates and burning in the right side, and then at night it is thrown out and burns the stomach and intestines) and in connection with this there is a constant war in the intestines so as not to eat (flatulence). I apply the recommendations from the “Indigestion” file, although I break down on regularity, sometimes I drink the recommended one, sometimes I don’t drink it. Tell me, is it all about irregularity or am I missing something?
    with thanks!

  • Lina:
    -

    Svetlana,
I have removed the details of your actions (which are not discussed with those consulting on the site). You missed a lot. And of course, irregularity - “I either drink or I don’t drink”, without other actions it can give little.

As I wrote in the previous answer - write to me personally and tell me who you are. I can't really say anything from the name alone.

  • Tatiana ku:

    Hello Lina.
Please tell me what you think about the possibility of postponing menopause. There is information on the Internet that Japanese women retain a young appearance for a long time due to the fact that their menopause is postponed to a later date, for some it starts after 60-70 and this is due to their diet, which includes seafood and soy.

  • Lina:
    -

    Tatiana
Yes, Eastern women have a lot of things differently, they have a different hormonal background, there are a lot of phytohormones in their diet.

Phytohormones are not hormones, but phyto (i.e. plant) steroids (a group of compounds that are similar in structure) that form the basis for the production of many human hormones and often act like hormones in the body. There are at least 57 known phytosteroids (found in foods and plants).

If a woman takes enough natural phytoharmones found in conventional products and plants, if she is in the balance of tridosha, then she rarely has problems with the menstrual cycle, her menopause passes almost imperceptibly, and it is quite possible that the dates are postponed. I don't have this statistic, but it looks very similar.

From personal experience I can confirm the beneficial effect of phytohormones. At a time when my peers were going crazy with impending change, I had no problems at all.

Angelica (angelica) and hogweed are completely different plants! Hogweed is very poisonous and causes terrible burns!

  • Lina:

    Well, then Wikipedia is lying:
If you type in the Russian-language Wikipedia "Angelica officinalis", we get:

“The Russian traditional name for this plant is angelica (angelica). So, however, other umbrella plants were also called - both wood angelica, and plants from the genera kupyr and cow parsnip.

If you have more accurate sources, write - I will indicate in the article.

    Lina, Hello!
Thank you for the wonderful and useful work and I wish you all the best!
In the subject of the article, let me ask you a question: what hygiene products (protection against leakage) are recommended in Ayurveda? Alas, I can't find it anywhere
I understand that tampons most likely interfere with normal movement, and therefore can disrupt vata. Gaskets are also not ideal in many aspects ... Maybe there are recommendations on this?
    I would be grateful)

  • Lina:
    -

    Elena,
Physical barriers (tampons) cannot interfere with the movement of apana vayu, as this happens at the energy level.
This is how they roughly explain to the “virgins” at the trainings of “Vedic wives” - “Pants interfere with the passage of energy, so you need to wear skirts (to the floor).”
Does anyone remember physics? - For energy, tampon skirts are not an obstacle.

There are no special Ayurvedic remedies for collecting secretions during menstruation. For centuries, in all countries, to collect outgoing blood, what came to hand was laid.
In India, the birthplace of Ayurveda, everything was also from the existing household - old towels, linen sheets, worn out clothes. All this was cut into pieces, from small pieces they twisted the semblance of modern tampons.

Wealthy women in many countries used fine wool tampons.

The women of the Nordic countries used different types of moss, a good adsorbent.

In African countries, they used what was in abundance - sea sponges, the skins of some animals worked out in certain ways, dried grass, the bark of some trees.
    br>
So there was nothing particularly "Vedic-Ayurvedic" for collecting menstrual blood and there is not.

Good afternoon Lina, please help with advice.
My daughter is almost 16 years old, her period is 8 months late. Analyzes are normal. The doctor advises to drink hormones and I resist (since I am a pharmacist by education).
My daughter has lost 7 kg. And there was stress - exams. After that, menstruation does not appear. They advised shatavari, I'm afraid to harm the young body. What do you advise, did anyone deal with such a problem and is there any feedback. I would be very grateful if you answer.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Lina:
    -

    Alyona,
    "The analyzes are normal"
–// analyzes of what? Dosha imbalance that manifests itself various diseases specific to each dosha? It is unlikely that such analyzes exist.

Against the background of stress, periods disappear even in healthy women. For example, during divorces, many do not have them. During the wars, menstruation also stopped for many women (both because of stress and because of “uselessness”, since it’s not the time to give birth anyway and there’s no one to give birth to).

So a prolonged absence of menstruation is not such a pathology and is quite common. Most often in young girls this happens if they have or (which is even worse in this case) -

A sharp weight loss of 7 kg may indicate that your daughter has a sharp increase in vata dosha, in which meager periods, or their absence at all, is almost the norm.

With weight gain, a plentiful oil-meat diet (which is prescribed for exhaustion (vata deficiency), with the use of heavy Ayurvedic tonics that give weight, with the inclusion of foods containing a large amount of phytohormones (helping to produce their own phytohormones), the condition should improve.

If a woman takes in sufficient quantities natural phytoharmones found in ordinary foods and plants, if she is in the balance of tridosha, then she rarely has problems with the menstrual cycle.

“Shatavari was advised, I’m afraid to harm the young body”

I wrote about doses for different ages in a post
16 years old is closer to an adult, so doses can be taken average between an adult and a teenager.

Pranayama (yogic breathing) balances very well, relieves stress. But at your daughter's age, few people do this - not before, and they don't understand why.

By the way, think about acupuncture, acupressure. I have several friends with daughters your age and the same cessation of menstruation due to stress and weight loss, they contacted Chinese clinics. There they were told almost immediately: “The channels are blocked, we will open them now, go home, everything will start in 3 days.” And it began.

True, you need to find a good specialist. This time.
And two - the reason may not be the blocking of the channel, and then nothing will start in 3 days. But if finances allow, if there is good specialist Chinese methods (they can also add very effective moxibustion) - you can try this too. It will not be worse.

    Lina, good afternoon!
Tell me, please, what to do in this case: if I do yoga during menstruation, they practically stop. Either they become very scarce, or they end a day or two or three earlier. I do not perform inverted poses, I do various extensions and not for long, the whole practice is 15-20 minutes. And is it bad that they stop? I stopped practicing during menstruation - everything goes as usual.

And in a post about polycystic disease. I don't know how to approach him. Are there any asanas or herbs that work well for this problem?

  • Lina:
    -

If then you suddenly gained weight and became m (according to your statement), which is doubtful, with a weight deficit, God forbid you reach the normal state of high vata dosha (which girls think is a likely weight gain - what you confirm - “the weight was not superfluous, I just became not skinny.” And I could be the second most important, but not the first.

So let me question your definition, the picture doesn't add up.

You write "healthy weight and truth below standard norm". Notes of this and you need to build on, and not invent to lose weight to some lower bound(and this can lead to resuscitation).

You need to accurately determine your vikruti ().

It is with weight gain from vata deficiency to high vata dosha that no problems can fall. Problems and almost always happen with. And where there is a violation of digestion, there are problems of the underlying organs - the genitourinary system,

It's in official medicine each specialist treats his part (there are even proctologists who deal only with a separate section of the large intestine). In Eastern medicine, the abdomen (large and small / lower and upper) is considered as a whole, and is treated as a whole.

Also, the organs are interconnected, and a problem in one place may indicate that the cause must be looked for in a completely different place. ).

    P.S.
By the way, the description of your vata deficiency explains the problems with the cessation of periods that you described earlier. With Vata deficiency, this happens quite often.

    Hello Lina!
I have been reading your site for more than a year and I want to thank you for your work!

I would like to consult with you about a friend who has been unable to conceive for several years now due to a thin endometrium. She did IVF 3 or 4 times, but the embryo does not take root, traditional medicine does not help. Can Ayurveda help in this case? As I understand it, the thickness of the endometrium is a feature of the body. Can it be changed with Ayurvedic treatment?

And one more thing - once upon a time in one of your articles I found an interview with a doctor who had very good results in the treatment of infertility, but gynecologists do not accept his methodology for the reason "what will we live on." I can not find this information again, tell me please, what kind of doctor is this?

  • Lina:

    Elena,
get pregnant and thin endometrium, and with a fat and generally in a state of complete hopelessness to do it. So it’s not worth resting on this reason, voiced by a specific doctor. How bitterly they joke - "Each specialist always makes the diagnosis that he knows best."

Everything that was possible about infertility, IVF can be read in the comments to the post

Very often, pregnancy does not occur for psychosomatic reasons. This is also a lot of questions and my answers in the above comments. And with psychosomatics, no official or alternative medicine(including Ayurveda) little can move. They can help, but when working out psychosomatics - various fears and secondary benefits from infertility (when on the external level a woman wanted to have a child, and deeply hidden fears do not allow her to do this. And it is not easy to pull these fears to the surface).

Regarding an interview with a doctor who had very good results in infertility treatment. This was told by Viktor Boyko, a famous yogi who worked with women suffering from infertility. With the results of the classes (almost 90% of women became pregnant within a year after the end of the classes), Viktor Boyko went to the Institute of Gynecology and Obstetrics. There he was told by eminent professors who have been treating women for infertility for years, “All this, of course, is good. But they would go, my friend, go home with your methods. What are we going to live on?"

In which post this was mentioned - I can not find it now. Most likely in posts about yoga. But in principle, I recounted everything.

Thank you very much for your answer!
Yes, for sure, it was Boyko's yoga, in our city there is a yoga center according to his method.
    Thank you:-)

  • Nutmeg, with its intense bittersweet, spicy savory flavor, is an essential ingredient in many dishes and is used in most Indian cuisines. Although the culinary significance of this magick is well known, its medicinal and therapeutic characteristics rarely taken into account despite the fact that from time immemorial nutmeg has been used to prepare numerous medicines.
Nutmeg pacifies Vata and Kapha and increases Pitta, with a pungent, bitter and astringent taste, and is a warming spice.

Freshly grated nutmeg is not in vain so pronounced taste and a concentrated, almost suffocating smell - this is a very potent spice and use nutmeg regularly for medical purposes, very small doses can be used after consultation with a qualified naturopathic or ayurvedic doctor - large doses of nutmeg can cause hallucinations, and in some cases even lead to death.
At the same time, if you occasionally use this spice in cooking, you will probably be interested in reading about its properties, and if you do not use it yet, perhaps after reading this article, include nutmeg in your collection of spices.

    Medical properties of nutmeg
Brain tonic. One of the main properties of nutmeg is its ability to stimulate the brain. It helps relieve stress and promotes mental activity, increasing concentration, as it has the property of improving blood circulation in the brain. When used in large doses nutmeg can cause delirium.

Heart Tonic - Nutmeg proves to be an excellent tonic for the cardiovascular system, it increases blood circulation and stimulates the heart.

Induces sleep - Studies show that nutmeg may be an insomnia remedy. It increases the level of serotonin, which promotes relaxation and sleep. So you can take a little grated nut with hot milk before you go to bed.

Eliminates bad breath - Nutmeg oil can help treat bad breath as it has natural antiseptic properties that can also relieve toothache and gums. That is why this oil is used even in some types of toothpaste. Nutmeg helps to get rid of bloating, diarrhea and improves appetite.

Nutmeg is a wonderful aphrodisiac. It has long been used in India for the treatment sexual disorders in men. Recent research also supports the aphrodisiac nature of this spice.

Nutmeg oil has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a local anesthetic. The oil acts on the joints, relieves muscle pain, can reduce swelling and is useful in the treatment of rheumatism.

Due to the large amount of esters, the oil is successfully used for coughs and in aromatherapy.

Contraindications- It is not recommended to use nutmeg for people who have problems with the pancreas, as well as those who want to lose weight, as it stimulates appetite. Nutmeg should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Nutmeg - used in many dishes indian cuisine, but I put it when preparing masala chai a couple of shavings per liter of tea.
This year in India I saw that they sell not only nuts, but also dried nutmeg - they are also very fragrant, they are not used in medicine, so from this point of view they are safer.

An important aspect women's health status reproductive health. It is directly related to the process of reproduction and the birth of offspring, and hence the continuation of the family. Ayurveda has always given Special attention maternal and child health. Of the eight branches of Ayurvedic science, pediatrics (Kaumarabhritya) occupies a very important place. It is also called Bala chikitsa (“bala” - child, child, “chikitsa” - Ayurvedic treatment). It also includes gynecology and non-operative obstetrics.

Reproduction of offspring and care for the health of a woman, the period of pregnancy and postpartum care for the mother in Ayurveda are considered as elements of a single task: the optimal health of the child. At first glance, this is completely different areas medical science. But for those who strive not just for relatively good health, but for an ideal state of health, nothing is more important than initial stage life, i.e. the neonatal period. The process of optimizing the health of a child, and therefore an adult, can begin even before conception and pregnancy. For this, Ayurveda gives quite a lot of recommendations that are aimed at harmonizing the state of the reproductive system of both parents, improving fertility - the ability to become pregnant and bear a child, as well as to optimize the "contribution" of parents to future offspring.

Vedic texts contain not only spiritual instructions, but also prescribe what to do in order to prepare for sexual intercourse, main goal which is the conception of a godly and healthy offspring. When a husband is strongly attracted to a woman, then a son is sure to be born from their union, and sexual relations are based on the wife's attraction to her husband, in most cases leads to the birth of a girl. Since the child is completely dependent on the food that the mother consumes, a woman should not eat a lot of salt, pepper, onion, garlic, coffee, tea, alcohol during pregnancy, because the baby's body is too tender to endure this heavy food. Caring for a child is the main duty of parents.

A description of the process of conception and pregnancy is given in the Vedic treatise " Pinda Siddhi". It talks about the method of conceiving children of the desired sex, about the process of developing the fetus in the womb of the mother. And also about how the food of the mother's thoughts in the prenatal period affects the mentality of the child, and through it the child receives the food that she eats in a digested form. The restrictions and various precautions that Ayurveda recommends for pregnant women have a beneficial effect on the development of the child. But first, let's talk about the health of the expectant mother and how imbalances in her psychophysiology affect the health of her child.

    Menstruation.

Menstruation is the shedding of the lining of the uterus in preparation for the next reproductive cycle. According to Ayurveda, menstruation is a protective mechanism that balances and heals the body. Menstruation allows you to regularly eliminate the accumulated doshas and is part of the self-healing system of the female body. A woman, knowing this, should always take care of the regularity of the menstrual cycle in order to benefit and improve her health by eliminating imbalances in a natural way. The absence or violation of the cycle of menstruation indicates not only problems in the functioning of the reproductive system, but also the possibility of accumulation of imbalances in other organs and systems of the woman's body.

All three are involved in menstruation. doshas, but dominated cotton wool. She is responsible for the movement, and in particular, one of her five aspects, apana Vata, governs all the processes of elimination directed downward. Hence apana vata plays a central role in menstruation. If it is exacerbated, it causes an exacerbation of the other four Subdosh of Vata. That is why most of the recommendations regarding menstruation are aimed at calming Vata in general and apana in particular. It is recommended not to engage in activities that require stress. Job duties should be as light as possible. Rest contributes to getting maximum benefit from menstruation.

According to Ayurveda, in striving for perfect health, a woman should cooperate with her body, and not suppress it. The ideal situation is when a woman rests for 2-3 days during menstruation. Of course, most women cannot afford this, but they should try to take at least one day off during their most copious discharge. Under the influence of the realities of modern times, most women have to compromise between work and their physiology, but from a medical point of view, it is important to at least have an idea of \u200b\u200bthe ideal situation. Saying that Ayurveda advises women to rest does not mean sleep. Daytime naps are not recommended at all as they can create imbalances in Kapha and cause obstruction of the srotas, which will prevent proper flow of menstruation. You need to rest while sitting and be sure to go to bed earlier in the evening. At home, you should only engage in light activities, one that a woman likes. Reading and calm creative activityperfect option for such a holiday. A woman should refrain from sports and strenuous work in the garden or garden. Easy walks are very helpful.

During menstruation, a woman should not do abhyangu(oil massage) and take a bath. Instead, sponge baths or short, warm showers are best. After the termination menstrual flow you should do an oil head massage with warm oil, leave for 2 hours, and then wash your hair. This will help calm Vatu. Food should be fresh, warm and easy to digest, as the digestive fire is weakened during this period. Avoid red meat, chocolate, smoked meats, carbonated drinks and fried foods that exacerbate Vatu. Good mood is an important element in the period of menstruation.

    Premenstrual syndrome

Ayurveda considers premenstrual syndrome as an accumulation of doshas in the body. Measures to reduce these accumulated doshas are the basis of effective treatment.

Doshas associated with premenstrual syndrome - ranjaka pitta(responsible for blood formation), and apana vata (directing waste down). In the course of one to two weeks before menstruation, toxins move through the system. Before being removed from the body with the help of menstruation, they seem to float to the surface. If Apana Vata and Ranjana Pitta function in a balanced way, then the impurities move down and do not cause problems. But if the functions of these subdoshas are impaired, then the accumulated toxins can cause the whole range of psychophysiological symptoms, which include premenstrual syndrome. Therefore, very lazy panchakarma eliminates ama (wastes) and calms doshas, as well as many home treatments. Often Recommended virechana(cleansing with laxatives) is one of the aspects of panchakarma.

    Menstrual disorders

Ayurveda has numerous treatments for menstrual problems. Some of them are prescribed individually by a doctor. Menstrual disorders can be different depending on which dosha provokes them. Vata causes spasms, pain, anxiety, emotional sensitivity and mood swings. pitta causes fever, hot flashes (“hot flashes”), eye problems, irritability, and anger. kapha causes swelling, lack of appetite, loss of strength and tearfulness. How to alleviate these manifestations? First of all, it is curled from the dosha. For symptoms cotton wool– the most common type – ideally follow a daily routine and a calming diet Vatu. Warmth will help with spasms. For symptoms pitts irritability should be avoided and a Pitta-calming diet should be used. Kapha symptoms should be avoided daytime sleep, which aggravates it, and follow a diet that reduces Kapha. In general, steps should be taken to prevent ama from clogging the channels of the body. Useful ghee and aloe vera juice - they are excellent for Apana Vata. With premenstrual tension, it is not recommended to consume fermented products, as well as very spicy, sour and salty foods that exacerbate Pitt. If premenstrual tension is severe or a full-blown premenstrual syndrome develops, you should contact your doctor.

    Preparing for conception

Planning a child in Vedic times was mandatory. So that children are not born with demonic inclinations, but, on the contrary, are pious. If the parents decided to give birth and raise a child, Jyotish was natal chart to know the position of the stars in the sky. Before conception, for several weeks, the couple fasted to purify the mind and body, performed austerities to appease the creator. After that, the Garbhadhana Samskara ceremony was performed. Samskara is the rite of depositing the seed. The intercourse itself took place at a time when external environment the mode of goodness is active, coming in the morning hours from 2 to 6 o'clock. Before conception, the young were anointed with aromatic oils, the girl was dressed in beautiful lungs clothes, fragrant oils were applied to the hair. The husband was prepared accordingly. Ritual massage is still practiced in the life of an Indian family. So, massage before marriage is one of the mandatory traditions. Massage gives the skin a healthy glow, and the newlyweds have a healthy look - a fresh look. For a man, massage strengthens the masculine principle and spiritual strength. As for the bride, massage with fragrant herbs and oils makes it especially beautiful and fragrant. With oblivion Vedic knowledge the rite of Garbhadhana Samskara is not performed in modern world Therefore, children are born who cause suffering.

    Pregnancy and type of constitution

Pregnancy in different women proceeds differently and with their own specific features. This is due to differences in constitutional types. woman cotton wool The following symptoms may appear during pregnancy: back pain, groin pain, spasms, anxiety, fear, weight loss (especially in the first three months), fatigue, insomnia, indigestion, intestinal gas, and varicose veins. Woman pitta type during pregnancy are threatened by frequent infectious disorders bladder and febrile conditions. Possible pigmentation and hematoid formations on the skin, as well as hair loss. In addition, irritability and anger increase. Pitta can be aggravated even by thoughts that the process of bearing a fetus cannot be accelerated in any way. Kapha women tend to gain weight during pregnancy, often suffer from edema, fatigue and lethargy, as well as experiencing an acute craving for sweets and starchy foods.

In Ayurveda, the treatment of diseases of the female reproductive system is allocated to a special area of gynecological medicine. These diseases usually manifest as menstrual irregularities. Serious menstrual disorders can be the result of hormonal disorders.

The menstrual cycle is an indicator of a woman. It is also important for the definition of the constitution. Regular menstruation close to the time of the full moon, flowing smoothly without pain and tension, with balance of emotions, is a sign of good health. However, most women experience some difficulty with menstruation at some point in their lives.

This article will also cover pregnancy and infertility treatment.

    Menstruation and constitution

In Vata women, menses are usually scanty, dark red or brownish, somewhat dry and old. Menstrual cramps can be quite severe with lower back pain and headaches. The state of depression and heightened sensitivity may be accompanied by a feeling of fear, anxiety and sleep disturbance. During menstruation, vitality decreases and the body's resistance may decrease. Constipation, intestinal gas, or bloating may occur. The walls of the vagina are dry. Menstruation, as a rule, does not last long, only 3-5 days, and is irregular.

Women of the Pitta type tend to have heavy periods because Pitta is related to the blood. The discharge is dark, red or purple, warm, sometimes clotted. Often menstruation is accompanied feverish state, burning sensation, redness of the eyes and face, the appearance of skin rashes or acne. There is diarrhea or loose stools (most often yellow color). Emotions are dominated by anger, irritability and irascibility. Average duration menstruation - 5-7 days.

With a kapha constitution, menstruation is moderate, continuous, lasting for a week or more. Allocations are pale, light red, often with an admixture of mucus. There is a feeling of heaviness and fatigue, drowsiness, increased mucus production and salivation, there may be mild nausea or even vomiting, swelling of the chest, swelling, especially in the lower legs. Sentimental and nostalgic emotional experiences prevail.

In women of dual constitutional types, the symptoms of the respective doshas are combined.

Poor nutrition, stress, overwork, excessive exercise can disrupt the flow of menstruation. One of the reasons for such violations is the modern fashion for a slim figure. Insufficient nutrition interferes with blood production and impairs menstruation. In the premenstrual period, women need rest and peace, should be avoided intensive loads. Some asanas are helpful.

    Treatment of menstrual disorders
In mild cases menstrual disorders treated with the same therapeutic methods, which are used to balance the dominant dosha in the individual constitution. Delays and other menstrual disorders can occur with various gynecological diseases. Treatment is usually aimed at inducing and regulating menstruation with menstrual herbs: turmeric and saffron, pennyroyal and motherwort. To relieve pain and calm emotions, anti-spasmodic and nerve-strengthening herbs are useful: fennel, asafoetida, valerian. With a breakdown, special tonics for the reproductive system are needed.

    Tonics for women
Since blood loss usually weakens vitality, in most cases, herbal tonics are useful for women. They are used in the same way as vitamins or mineral supplements. Shatavari-based formulations, Ayurvedic herbal jam Chyavanprash, various Chinese preparations are usually recommended.

The main Ayurvedic tonic for the female reproductive system is shatavari ( Asparagus racemosus). It has excellent nourishing and softening properties and soothes the heart. Aloe juice is very useful, which simultaneously cleanses and nourishes tissues. In Chinese medicine, tang kwei is used as the main tonic. Angelica sinensis) - a plant that has a monthly, restorative blood and antispasmodic effect.

It should be borne in mind that the abuse of potent menstrual drugs - such as pennyroyal, tansy or rue - can cause profuse bleeding and other menstrual disorders. These herbs are contraindicated during pregnancy as they may cause miscarriage, but their use for this purpose is not recommended as they are not effective enough for this purpose and cause side effects.

One of the properties of a spicy or pungent taste is to eliminate congestion and increase blood flow. Therefore, many widely used spices are used to induce menstruation, which in addition often have an anti-spasmodic effect. Best Spice in this case, turmeric, but other spices are also good: cinnamon, ginger, red and black pepper, basil, dill, fennel, cardamom, asafoetida. 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. these spices should be taken with 1-2 tsp. aloe juice 2 times a day for any complications in the course of menstruation.

    Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

This concept refers to a number of violations of the flow of menstruation: the absence, delay or premature onset of menstruation, premenstrual headaches, cramps, breast swelling, etc. In a narrower sense, PMS refers to emotional or nervous disorders associated with menstruation, which manifest themselves in the form of irritability, rapid mood swings, feelings of depression or anxiety, etc.

For treatment mental manifestations PMS may be useful methods Yoga therapies using sattvic (mind-harmonizing) foods and herbs. well act gems having the property of calming the mind. Pearls and moonstone (moon stones) pacify the mind and heart, strengthen the female reproductive system. Pearl is considered the stone of women. It enhances the feminine both physically and mentally.

PMS can be associated with any of the three doshas, but while primarily manifesting as mental and nervous disorders, PMS is usually still a vata disorder. Emotional arousal can disrupt the normal production of hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle. Provoking factors include: poor nutrition, overwork, long trips, communication difficulties, repressed emotions and other stresses.

    Types of PMS
Vata-type PMS is characterized by anxiety, depression, insomnia, constipation, headache, and severe painful spasms. Nervousness, agitation, absent-mindedness appear, dizziness, ringing in the ears, fainting are possible. A woman's mood can change quickly, and it can be difficult for others to please her. She may experience excitement or a feeling of uselessness, a feeling of cold, thirst and dryness of the skin. She may feel like she is dying. Thoughts of suicide may appear, but with the onset of menstruation, all this passes. In many cases, there is an irregular or delayed menstruation. The discharge is usually scanty, with a brownish or dark tint. It is characterized by a short, only a few days, duration of menstruation, with increased pain at dawn and at sunset (vata time).

Pitta-type PMS is manifested by irritability, anger, the desire to argue, and sometimes outbursts of rage. There may be diarrhea, thirst, sweating, chilliness, a feeling of heat in the upper body. New rashes and acne may appear on the skin. Menstrual flow is usually copious or even excessive, with clots. Menstruation usually starts ahead of time, the appearance of dirty secretions in the period between menstruation is possible. Feeling worse at noon and at midnight - the time of pitta.

Kapha-type PMS is manifested by a breakdown, a feeling of heaviness, tearfulness, sentimentality, the need to be loved; however, mood variability is not so pronounced. Susceptibility to colds and flu increases, mucus secretion increases, there is no appetite, nausea is observed, the chest swells, swelling may appear. Menses may be late, the discharge may be pale or whitish, clotted or mucus-laden. Manifestations of PMS are intensified in the early morning or early evening - the time of kapha.

    Differentiated treatment of PMS
For vata constitutions or vata PMS, a vata-reducing diet with tonic foods, garlic, and cooked onions is indicated. Before going to bed, you can take menstrual spices in combination with anti-spasmodic spices (such as turmeric and nutmeg) with warm milk. Warm sesame oil is applied to the head and lower abdomen. They can also lubricate the vaginal area or douche with emollient herbs, such as shatavari. Stimulants are excluded: coffee, tea, tobacco, alcohol, narcotic substances. Useful red gems that help restore blood: red coral, garnet, ruby, heliotrope (bloodstone), as well as white stones (pearl, moonstone, etc.), which increase the amount of fluid in the body. The treatment uses sweet and spicy taste combined with herbs such as aloe (juice), shatavari, ashwagandha, licorice, turmeric, musta, dill, fennel, valerian, jatamamsi, asafoetida, etc. Simple and good composition can be prepared by taking 3 parts of shatavari and 1 part each of turmeric, cinnamon, valerian and licorice. From herbs Chinese medicine tang kwei, rehmannia, lactiflora peony and chuan xion are used. Of the herbs known in the West, they use pennyroyal, rosemary, chamomile, valerian, gelonias, comfrey root, and others with menstrual, nerve-strengthening, and tonic properties.

Pitta women require a combination of a pitta-reducing diet with the use of spices that have a monthly effect: turmeric, coriander, fennel, saffron, safflower. Hot spices should be avoided. Pearls, moonstone and red coral help. Incense (jasmine, rose, sandalwood, gardenia) and fresh flowers are very useful. Ayurvedic herbs include aloe (juice), shatavari, turmeric, musta, saffron, manjishta, simplokos, brahmi and bhringaraj, as well as aloe wine. A composition of three parts of shatavari and one part of turmeric, musta and brahmi is useful. From herbs of Chinese medicine, dan shen, motherwort, peach pits, safflower, volodushka, must and mint are used. From the means of Western herbal medicine, nettle, yarrow, red raspberry, black cohosh, skullcap, initial letter are effective. In many cases, dandelion tea works well.

With a kapha constitution, a kapha-reducing diet is needed. Heavy or oily foods should be avoided. You can use spices without restrictions, including all hot, and light vegetables. From Ayurvedic herbs, aloe (juice), turmeric, musta, cinnamon, black pepper, pippali, ginger and calamus are used, from drugs - trikatu. From Chinese medicine, we can recommend chuan xion, safflower, fu lin, alysma, and from herbs known in the West: pennyroyal, rosemary, myrrh, red pepper, ginger, cinnamon and other herbs with a monthly effect.

    Amenorrhea

Amenorrhea - delayed or absent periods, is treated in much the same way as PMS. Deficiency predominates in amenorrhea because amenorrhea is a prolonged and recurring condition usually associated with vata.

Causes of amenorrhea include hypothermia, poor nutrition, anemia, malnutrition, dehydration, uterine displacement, hormonal imbalances, emotional trauma, etc. Amenorrhea can occur as a result of a severe or debilitating disease such as diabetes. It may be associated with constipation and the factors that cause it.

    Treatment of amenorrhea
Menstrual herbs are special remedies for the treatment of amenorrhea. As a rule, tonics are used along with them to restore the reproductive system. In most cases, myrrh is effective, especially in the form of a tincture.

First of all, a Vata-reducing or tonic diet is prescribed: dairy products, meat, nuts, oils, whole grains and others. nutritious foods. Of great importance are nutritional supplements containing iron, or Ayurvedic preparations from iron ash. Warm sesame oil is recommended to lubricate the lower abdomen or douching. You can use mild laxatives in small doses (composition of triphala, aloe juice, castor oil).

In the treatment of amenorrhea caused by cold, use spices: ginger, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, rosemary, trikatu composition. In Western herbal medicine, fresh ginger and pennyroyal taken equally (30 g of herbs per 0.5 l of water, taken 1 cup 3 times a day) are successfully used.

Ayurvedic herbs for delayed menstruation caused by vata include asafoetida, musta, myrrh, ashwagandha, shatavari, atmagupta, black and white musali.

A good simple preparation can be prepared with shatavari, ashwagandha (2 parts of each herb), turmeric and ginger (1 part each) at the rate of 1 tsp. powder in a cup of warm water.

In Chinese medicine, the reason for the absence of menstruation is considered to be stagnation of blood, for example, due to its weakness, and chuan xion, dan shen, tang kwei, motherwort are used for treatment.

Additionally, monthly herbs used in Western herbal medicine are recommended: hoof, tansy, rue, mitchell. They work best when combined with emollient and nourishing herbs such as comfrey root, calamus, marshmallow, and American ginseng for low energy.

The reason for the delay in kapha-type menstruation is stagnation in the body and general lethargy. For treatment, you can also use strong warming spices - ginger, cinnamon, red and black pepper, trikatu compounds. For the most part, monthly herbs, such as pennyroyal, are effective. Both in this case and in pitta-type amenorrhea, motherwort, also used in Chinese and Western herbal medicine, is a good remedy.

Pitta delayed menstruation responds well to turmeric and saffron taken in warm milk. Rose, musta, dandelion and other cooling menstrual remedies are also good. In more persistent cases of amenorrhea, liver or blood disorders may occur, and efforts should be directed to the treatment of which.

    Dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea is a complicated, usually painful cramping, during menstruation. Much of what has already been said about menstrual disorders still applies here.

Most often, dysmenorrhea occurs in women with a vata constitution, which may be due to dryness of the uterus, insufficiency of secretions, or spasm of the smooth muscles of the uterus. Often, dysmenorrhea is accompanied by bloating, gas, or constipation.

In women belonging to the Pitta or Kapha type, dysmenorrhea is due to stagnation of blood. Pitta-type dysmenorrhea is accompanied by a burning sensation, loose stools or diarrhea, and kapha-type dysmenorrhea is accompanied by swelling or congestion of mucus.

    Treatment of dysmenorrhea
For the treatment of dysmenorrhea, along with menstrual herbs, herbs with anti-spasmodic, muscle relaxing and analgesic properties are used. For painful cramps during menstruation, musta is used as a special remedy in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, regardless of the type of constitution. Myrrh and guggul are also useful.

Vata-type dysmenorrhea appears severe colic, constipation, bloating, flatulence, dry skin, headaches, anxiety and palpitations.

A Vata-reducing diet is applied. The lower abdomen is warmed and smeared with warm sesame oil. Douche with sesame oil or shatavari, inside take turmeric, nutmeg, asafoetida, ginger, valerian and jatamamsi. These herbs are best taken with emollient herbs such as shatavari or licorice, which have a calming and hormonal (cortisone-like) effect. Of the drugs, formulations based on shatavari are recommended.

Corydalis, dan shen and chuan xion, tang kwei and lactiflora peony are good Chinese medicine herbs, which relieve spasms of the smooth muscles of the uterus. Western herbal remedies include chamomile, lady's slipper, and evening primrose.

Pitta-type dysmenorrhea requires the use of nerve-strengthening herbs with cooling energy, such as brahmi, skullcap, passionflower, and hops, and kapha-type dysmenorrhea, nerve-strengthening and anti-spasmodic herbs, such as ginger, calamus, myrrh, guggul, cinnamon and nutmeg.

    menorrhagia

Menorrhagia - profuse, excessive menstrual bleeding, and the discharge continues, as a rule, longer than usual, and in the interval between menstruation there are also small bleeding. This disorder is usually caused by high level pitta, causing the blood to heat up. There may be other types of bleeding, for example, the presence of blood in the stool, etc.

Among the causes of menorrhagia are the abuse of hot, spicy, sour or salty foods, smoking, drinking alcohol, suppression of emotions (anger, resentment, enmity), as well as abortion, incomplete miscarriage, cervical erosion, endometritis, polyps and tumors, the use of intrauterine contraceptives and contraceptive pills. Sometimes menorrhagia is a manifestation of infectious or cancer, therefore, with menorrhagia, a thorough medical examination is necessary.

    Treatment of menorrhagia
The diet should be aimed at reducing pitta; any hot and oily foods are excluded. Keep cool, avoid physical activity, stay in the heat and the sun. When bleeding, an ice pack can be applied to the lower abdomen.

Astringent and hemostatic herbs are used, such as red raspberry or manjishta. If the condition does not improve, tonic herbs are added. Immediately after the bleeding subsides, they switch to tonics alone, as in the treatment of anemia.

Of the Ayurvedic herbs, Ashok, Symplokos, Ashwagandha, Arjuna, Shatavari, Aloe, Amalaki, Bhringaraj are used. An excellent remedy is shatavari and manjishta in equal parts. Useful wine from Ashok.

From Chinese medicine, wormwood, agar-agar, pseudoginseng are used, from herbs known in Western herbal medicine: agrimony, nettle, yarrow, blackhead and mullein.

    Leukorrhea (leukorrhea)

Leukorrhea is manifested by altered vaginal discharge. The natural acidic environment in the vagina protects it from the effects of pathogenic factors. When the acidity of the environment is disturbed, reproduction begins various kinds bacteria, fungi and protozoa. That is why douching with acidic solutions helps with whites, for example, with the addition of vinegar, yogurt, or herbal decoctions with acidophilic additives.

In Ayurveda, leukorrhea is believed to be most often caused by an imbalance of kapha (excess mucus), but imbalances in other doshas can also cause it. Treatment should be aimed not so much at eliminating the pathogenic factor as at restoring the balance of the corresponding dosha.

Vata-type leucorrhoea is brownish, sticky and dry, with severe soreness.

Pitta-type leucorrhoea - yellowish, with bad smell, sometimes mixed with pus or blood, with a burning sensation.

Kapha-type leucorrhoea - white, mucous, thick, copious; accompanied by a feeling of heaviness and lethargy.

Leukorrhea is mainly promoted by the same factors that increase kapha: the abuse of sweet, sour, salty, heavy and fatty foods, in particular dairy products and sugars, also non-observance of personal hygiene, excessive sexual activity, the use of antibiotics, infectious and venereal diseases.

    Treatment of leukorrhea
A feature of the treatment is the need for douching with the use of Ayurvedic herbs: geukhera, turmeric, aloe juice and licorice. Treatment is aimed at restoring the balance of the dosha that caused the disorder.

For vata-type leucorrhoea, yogurt or emollient herbs, such as shatavari or licorice, are used for douching. Inside take ashwagandha, shatavari and preparations based on them.

Pitta leucorrhea is treated with bitter herbs: aloe powder, katuk, geuchera, koptis, golden seal, and gentian. To purify the blood, aloe juice, turmeric, barberry are taken orally.

For douching with kapha-type whites, bitter and pungent herbs are used: aloe powder, geukhera, calamus, zanthoxylum and ginger. Inside take the composition of trikatu with honey.

Of the herbs used in the West, wormwood, tansy, rue, geuhera root, oak bark, uzneya, golden seal, and echinacea are effective. The collection of these herbs is boiled in water (60 g per 0.5 l) for 20 minutes, then the solution is filtered and used for douching (morning and evening). In acute conditions, the "golden seal", sarsaparil and zanthoxylum with the addition of geukhera are well helped.

    Menopause

Menopause changes a woman's life. At this time, due to a change in hormone production, a woman's health may be affected. In the treatment, special herbs are used to strengthen and rejuvenate the female reproductive system, which are used together with agents that calm emotions and help regulate hormonal levels.

Since menopause indicates the approach of old age, a period of life correlated with vata, it is accompanied by symptoms of high vata: nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, depression. Accordingly, the treatment is aimed primarily at reducing vata. Herbs that have a tonic effect on the reproductive system are useful, including aloe (juice), shatavari, saffron, atmagupta, ashwagandha, which are preferably taken in the form of milk broths. Of the herbs of Chinese medicine, such tonics as tang kwei, rehmannia, lactic-flowered peony, dereza are good.

An excellent tool that prolongs the youth of the female reproductive organs is aloe juice. The drug chyavanprash is also useful, which has a general rejuvenating effect.

Menopausal disorders of the pitta type are characterized by anger, irritability and irascibility; hot flashes become more frequent and intensified. Treatment is aimed at reducing pitta. Aloe juice is used along with tonics based on shatavari, saffron in the form of a milk broth.

Kapha-type climacteric disorders are manifested by a feeling of heaviness, drowsiness, weakening of the will to live, weight gain, water retention in the body. Treatment is aimed at reducing kapha. Hot spices are used, such as trikatu with aloe juice.

    Uterus removal

Along with the reproductive uterus, it also performs other functions: it is an organ responsible for emotionality and creative self-expression. After its removal, emotional balance is often disturbed, a feeling of defenselessness arises. Hormonal imbalance can lead to a weakening of the body's vitality, metabolic disorders and weight gain. All this increases the level of vata and leads to depression, mental instability unreasonable fears. The balance of other doshas (usually the dosha that prevails in the individual constitution) may also be disturbed. In women belonging to the Pitta type, bouts of anger and irritability intensify, hot flashes appear. With a kapha constitution, signs of accumulation of water and mucus in the body will increase, fatigue and sentimental moods will become more pronounced.

The general treatment consists in the use of tonics for the reproductive system: shatavari, aloe juice, saffron and preparations based on them, the composition of chyavanprash. Herbs that balance the mind and calm emotions are useful: brahmi, calamus, bhringaraj, jatamamsi, the drug brahma rasayan. Of the tonic herbs of Chinese medicine, tang kwei, rehmannia, lactiferous peony are used, and to calm the mind: jujube, thuja and herbs that strengthen the nerves. From the arsenal of Western herbal medicine, skullcap, valerian and venus slipper are used.

Immediately after the operation, herbs are used to improve tissue healing, especially turmeric and arjuna.

Cysts and tumors of the uterus and breast

Cysts of the uterus or breasts are quite common, especially in childless women. In most cases, these formations are benign, but sometimes they can be reborn. Malignant tumors are firmer to the touch and, as it were, more delineated.

Tumors can be due to imbalance of any dosha, but most often they are associated with kapha when there is a tendency to overweight. Kapha-type tumors are usually benign: these are accumulations of fat or mucus under the skin. Their distinguishing features: swelling, moisture, congestion. Large tumors are easy to remove surgically. Since there is a lot of adipose tissue in the mammary glands, neoplasms occur in them quite easily.

Vata-type tumors are characterized by soreness, dryness, a variety of their localization and size. Representatives of the vata constitution are more prone to fears and fears that a tumor or cyst may be malignant.

Pitta tumors are usually accompanied by burning sensation, swelling, inflammation and infection.

    Treatment of cysts and tumors
In benign tumors, in most cases, a regimen aimed at reducing kapha is useful. Sharp and bitter herbs are used to reduce body fat. Good black and red pepper, turmeric, calamus, katuka, "golden seal", barberry, and from the preparations - the composition of trikatu, which must be taken with honey. Honey itself has the ability to reduce fat and reduce tumors. The composition of triphala and other laxatives are also shown.

Herbs that reduce breast swelling include turmeric, saffron, safflower, dandelion, violet, and musta. Milk decoction of saffron helps (with short-term use, the dosage increases to 1-3 g per day).

Treatment for disorders of other doshas is the same as for dysmenorrhea.

In a lighter version, these same treatments can also be used for swelling of the mammary glands before menstruation and during breastfeeding.

Pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis and endometriosis

Acute pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, and the like are disorders of Pitta, indicating accumulation of heat and stagnation of blood, accompanied by infection and inflammation. With these diseases, it is often necessary to treat the liver and purify the blood.

The treatment regimen and diet should be aimed at reducing pitta. Spices other than turmeric, coriander and saffron, as well as salt, alcohol, refined sugar should be avoided. Of the oils you can use only coconut and sunflower. Herbs such as shatavari, aloe juice, sarsaparilla, brahmi, dandelion, myrrh, echinacea are shown. Additionally use strong bitterness: katuka, golden seal, gentian, bearberry, etc. A composition of shatavari and manjishta in equal parts helps well. Treatment is carried out depending on the characteristics of the course of menstruation (more often these are pitta-type menstruation).

Endometriosis is characterized by an overgrowth of the lining of the uterus, which is predominantly associated with kapha, especially in cases where there is no infection. Treatment is aimed at reducing kapha, reducing tumors and cleansing the body of toxins; at the same time, methods of facilitating therapy are used. Herbs commonly used are guggul, myrrh, turmeric, and dandelion. Black pepper and katuka or golden seal (with honey) are also recommended.

    Pregnancy

During pregnancy, mild nutritious diet, you should avoid the use of potent herbs, as well as monthly, laxative herbs and herbs with toxic properties. It is good to use herbs that have a beneficial effect on deep tissues: shatavari, ashwagandha, bala, white musali, atmagupta.

    postpartum period

Immediately after childbirth, herbs are used to help cleanse the uterus and improve blood circulation in the uterus. These are such monthly herbs as saffron, safflower, myrrh, pennyroyal; however, in most cases, they should not be taken for longer than one week.

During the period of breastfeeding, a soft nutritional therapy with the use of dairy products should be continued, especially with vata or pitta constitutions.

Shatavari, marshmallow and licorice increase lactation, which are taken in the form of milk broths. Of the herbs of Chinese medicine, tang kwei and rehmannia are good. Facilitate the release of milk fennel, dandelion and nettle. With excessive lactation or to stop it, sage or lubricating the breast with gruel from mung bean flour helps.

    Miscarriage (spontaneous abortion)

Miscarriage, or spontaneous abortion, can occur for various reasons. More often it is a violation of pitta with excessive mobility of the descending air (apana). Kapha women usually carry well with pregnancy, but they have a tendency to false and ectopic pregnancy. Vata women are more likely to suffer from infertility due to the inability to conceive.

Treatment involves following a pitta-reducing diet and avoiding spicy and oily foods. Useful milk and dairy products. Rest and relaxation are needed, physical exertion and travel should be avoided, exposure to the sun and heat should be limited.

Herbal medicine is aimed at general toning and calming of emotions. If a miscarriage did occur, then first of all, you need to remove all stagnant blood and cleanse the uterus with the help of such monthly herbs: aloe juice, myrrh, turmeric, manjista, and after 1-2 weeks, start tonic therapy.

From Ayurvedic herbs, shatavari, ashwagandha, aloe juice, manjishta and brahmi are used, and from preparations - chyawanprash.

From the means of Chinese medicine, wormwood, eucomia, loranthus are good. Herbs known in Western herbal medicine are red raspberry and gelonias, which are used as additional means.

    Infertility

Infertility is usually associated with poor nutrition, underdevelopment of the reproductive organs, and accumulation of fluids or blood stasis.

Vata women are more likely to suffer from infertility, and kapha women are the least affected.

To determine the most suitable time for conception, you can contact an astrologer. Usually more favorable periods when the moon arrives or is in the signs associated with fertility. With the help of astrology, it is possible to determine the ability of a woman to bear children.

    Infertility treatment
It is necessary to carry out tonic therapy with a diet that reduces vata and increases kapha, including nutritious, strengthening foods: dairy (especially milk), meat, fish, nuts, and oils such as ghee and sesame. Of the herbs, tonics are primarily used to strengthen the female reproductive system.

Traditional Ayurvedic tonics for women are shown: shatavari, ashwagandha, aloe juice, saffron, licorice, dashamula formulations, and phala grita. Tang Kwei and Rehmannia are used from Chinese medicine herbs, and herbs known in Western herbal medicine are comfrey root, marshmallow, saw palmetto and gelonias.

In cases where the cause of infertility is stagnation or a weakening of all body functions, as, for example, in overweight kapha women, herbs that improve blood circulation and energy movement should be used. Useful are cinnamon, saffron, ginger, myrrh, and preparations such as trikatu and triphala taken with honey. Pitta women are recommended saffron, aloe juice and shatavari.

The development of congestion in the biliary system of the liver and a decrease in its metabolic function due to adverse environmental factors that inhibit the transition of estradiol to "safe" estrogens.

An exponential decrease in the synthesis of the growth hormone of the pituitary gland, which leads to an increase in the basal level of insulin (and, therefore, the depot of the aromatase enzyme).

Decreased thyroid function, leading to a decrease in progesterone activity.

Violation of the sympathetic regulation of the mammary and sex glands due to degenerative-dystrophic changes in the spine.

Almost for the most important cause in the vicious chain of female diseases, Ayurveda takes into account the violation of one of the Vata subdoshas: Apana Vata. Subdoshas are subtypes of doshas. You can read about them in Appendix No. 2. Ayurvedic texts describe 5 subspecies, or subdoshas, Vata doshas. And Apana Vata is the most important of them. She must be remembered. Apana is directed downwards, concentrated in the large intestine, responsible for urination, defecation, ejaculation and childbirth. Apana's upward movement causes discomfort lower abdomen, constipation, diabetes mellitus, menstrual disorders, miscarriages, back pain, difficult childbirth. When Apana moves further upwards and "clings" the rest of the subdoshas, it can cause palpitations, pain in the heart area, hypertension, rhinitis, dizziness, restlessness, anxiety and other troubles. Ayurveda states that the main way that disease enters a woman's body is through an unbalanced Apana Vata.

There are many causes of female diseases, but in short, the main ones are:

    accumulation of ama in the body due to in the wrong way life and nutrition;

    hormonal imbalance;

life with a "closed" heart and misuse of shakti energy.

    Classification of female diseases

For every disease, a potion grows.

    Russian proverb

I will take the ancient knowledge of the great acharya Charaki as the basis for the classification of women's diseases, but I will try to bring this knowledge as close as possible to our days and give Indian preparations directly by groups of diseases.

In the following chapters we will consider these diseases in more detail and consider the herbal treatment of our latitudes, but for now we will only analyze the groups of diseases and Indian remedies, as well as the general causes that cause female diseases.

So, the groups of women's diseases are as follows.

Mithiachara - diseases caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, malnutrition, bad habits, improper sex, mental problems.

Artava suffocate. Literal translation " bad menstruation". This includes diseases associated with an imbalance of hormones and improper maturation of eggs in the ovaries.

    Bija dosha - hereditary diseases.

Daiva prabhava. The diseases of this group are caused by such reasons: bad deeds in past lives, improperly performed nasya (immediately after menstruation, for example). WITH modern point vision, it can be said that drugs administered through the nose can hypothetically affect the female hormonal system, since the vessels of the nasal sinuses and the vessels of the brain are quite closely connected and drugs administered through the nose can indirectly affect the hypothalamic-pituitary complex. It also includes the use by women of inappropriate objects to satisfy sexual needs, the sex of a woman with a weak and thin body with a man with a large penis, etc.

    Vatiki - Vata-type diseases

There are representatives of the Vata type, accompanied by pains of a stabbing nature, rigidity, dryness of the mucous membranes, numbness, parasthesia (unusual sensations) in the vagina, in the primary source - “sensation of ants in the vagina”, discharge, pain in the hip joints and lateral parts of the abdomen, bubbling menstrual flow.

The treatment of Vata-type diseases, as always, is the most voluminous. For all Vata problems, the oily forms of Phalasarpis, Narayna Taila for internal use, Vishu Taila, Gandha Taila are good. Oil enemas are done - anuvasana taila, uttaravasti are made, for example, the introduction of 10–20 ml of "Gandha taila" into the vagina, seka is done - vaginal douching with decoctions and infusions of herbs, for example, 200 ml of triphala decoction. Also, pichu are introduced into the vagina - tampons with Vala Tayla and other oils.

Inside, "Shatavari churna" with milk is also taken. After cleansing procedures and under the control of estrogen, with an increased level of estrogen - it is impossible. "Dashmula" is taken with concomitant pathology neuroendocrine system. "Saptasara" decoction or tablets - for menstrual disorders, accompanied by constipation, indigestion, bloating. "Sukumaram" decoction or tablets - with an imbalance of Apana-Vata, an irregular cycle, menopause, discomfort in the lumbar region, hernia, constipation, ascites against the background of an enlarged liver and spleen, infertility.

Vata-type endometriosis, which is accompanied by a deficiency of hormones, can also be attributed to this group of diseases, we will talk about its treatment later.

Paihiki - diseases associated with Pitta imbalance

This group includes acute infectious diseases reproductive system.

In addition to all manifestations of acute inflammatory process, here the leading symptom will be a burning sensation in the genital area.

IN complex therapy For this acute pathology, it is possible to use washing with triphala decoction, enema with licorice and shatavari on milk with a volume of 50-60 ml, local applications with sandalwood, vetiver, shatavari paste.

    Slashmeeks. Kapha-type diseases

Symptoms: cold, itching of the external genitalia, mucous discharge, dull pain, anemia. This group of diseases also includes trichomoniasis and candidiasis.

The therapy is “drying” and warm. Apply vaginal suppositories with herbs of such drying properties, washing with neem, triphala, external applications with Satadhauta Ghrita. Inside - "Trikatu", herbs and spices of hot drying effect.

    Udavarstha

These are states with symptoms of dysmenorrhea. Suppression of natural needs and others similar reasons cause imbalance of the Apana-Vata subdosha (remember, it is responsible for the discharge), and this leads to pain during menstruation, which disappear after they start, frothy bleeding with mucus and sometimes pieces of mucous membrane.

The treatment is associated with the curation of the imbalance of Vata dosha: oil enemas are used with "Rasnadi Tayla", vaginal oil procedures with garlic oil, orally - "Sukumara Ghrita" 15 ml before meals. Also the complex "Saptasara kashaya" plus "Sukumalum ghrita".

At heavy menstruation apply “Pushyanug churna” 3-5 g twice a day with honey or water, “Ashokarista”, an excellent effective formula “Muslikhadi-radi kashaya”, “Dadimashtaka churna” with pomegranate. Also use a decoction of pomegranate peels or pomegranate peel powder, Arnica tincture. For scanty menstruation - "Kumariasava", "Rajapravartini vati", a decoction or powder of sesame seeds with honey. With anemia, drinking from a mixture helps pomegranate juice with grape 2:1 with one spoonful of sugar and a pinch of ginger.

    Raktayoni

Associated with Pitta imbalance and rakta dhatu (red blood). We are talking about spotting, even during pregnancy. In modern terms, this is dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Treatment is vaginal administration of kutaja oil (^larchem antidysenterica) and treatment of the cause of the disease that caused the bleeding.

Carnini, or polyposis of the vagina

Vata and Kapha imbalance. Accompanied by pain, itching. Polyps can block the lumen of the vagina, blocking the passage of semen and menstrual flow. Treatment: candles from kushta (saussurea), pippali, arch (Calotropis gigantea).

    Putraghini or recurrent abortions

Accompanied by bleeding with a burning sensation. Associated with dry eating and imbalance of Apana-Vata. From a modern point of view, these problems can cause hormonal imbalance and chlamydia. Treatment is vaginal administration of kutaja oil (^larchem antidysenterica). Inside - a decoction of Karanja (Pongamia pinnata). Miscarriages of hormonal origin are treated with the use of shatavari after a preliminary cleansing of the body.

    Arajaska, or secondary amenorrhea

An imbalance in Vata leads to an imbalance in Pitta and therefore menstrual irregularities. Accompanied by a burning sensation, weight loss and fever. Treatment: vaginal oil vasti with gamkhar (gmelina arborea), Sahacharadi oil, inside - sour fruit juice, Rajapravartini 1-2 tablets one hour after meals, twice a day with warm water. After the start of the cycle or after 2-3 days from the beginning of the cycle, you can stop taking it. Aloe juice or Kumarisava, Jirakarishta, Dashmula are also used.

Aticharana - infertility due to improper coitus, etc.

The treatment is similar to Vatica. Oil enemas - anuvasana taila. Uttaravasthi - insertion into the vagina of 10-20 ml of "Gandha taila" or 30 ml of "Jivana" oil, which contains restorative herbs: jivak, risabnak, honey, mahamed, kakoli, mudgaparni, masparni, zhivanti. Increases progesterone and lowers prolactin.

    Dysmenorrhea - artava vyapat

The princess was, as the poets say, the wonder of the world: blood with milk, ruddy and white.

    N.M. languages

Menstrual blood in Ayurveda sounds like "raja-krikcha". Women with Vata constitution menses are usually scanty, dark red or brownish, and may be accompanied by pain, constipation, and bloating. Menstruation, as a rule, does not last long, only 3-5 days, and is irregular. Often there is PMS and an unstable emotional state.

Pitta type women menstruation usually profuse, red, dark or purple, warm, sometimes clotted. Often, menstruation is accompanied by a burning sensation, redness of the eyes and face, the appearance of a skin rash. There is diarrhea or loose stools (most often yellow). Emotions are dominated by anger, irritability and irascibility. The average duration of menstruation is 5-7 days.

Under Kapha constitution menstruation is moderate, continuous, lasts for a week or more. Allocations are pale, light red, often with an admixture of mucus. Feelings of heaviness and fatigue, drowsiness are observed, there may also be slight nausea or even vomiting, swelling of the chest, swelling, especially in the lower part of the legs. Sentimental and nostalgic emotional experiences prevail.

According to Charaka, there are 8 types of menstrual disorders (artava dushti). There is also a classification based on clinical manifestations dysmenorrhea, which largely describes the change in menstruation in cancer of the pelvic organs, depending on its stage. We will consider these problems, based on the main symptom.

    Premenstrual syndrome

With PMS, a disorder of Vata dosha occurs, “pulling” Kapha and Pitta dosha with it. With painful periods and headaches, a congested Vata channel “blocks the Apana and Prana subdoshas, which upsets the blood channel that nourishes the rakta dhata.” As you remember, Apana regulates the excretion of feces, urine and menstrual blood from the body. Vaidya Girdharial Goswami advises for Apana blockage (constipation plus scanty painful menstruation) to take laxative therapy two days before the onset of menstruation.

In the treatment of mental manifestations of PMS, yoga therapy methods using sattvic (mind-harmonizing) foods and herbs can be useful. Precious stones that have the property of calming the mind work well. Pearls and moonstone (moon stones) pacify the mind and heart, strengthen the female reproductive system. Pearl is considered the stone of women. It enhances the feminine both physically and mentally.

Under Vata constitution and in Vata-type PMS, sweet, salty, and spicy foods, garlic, and asafoetida are indicated. You can take menstrual spices in combination with anti-spasmodic spices (for example, shambhala, turmeric and nutmeg) with warm milk. Warm sesame oil is applied to the head and lower abdomen. They can also lubricate the vaginal area. Stimulants are excluded - coffee, tea, tobacco, alcohol. The treatment uses sweet and spicy flavors combined with herbs such as shatavari, ashwagandha, licorice, musta, dill, fennel, valerian, jatamansi, peony, rosemary, chamomile, comfrey root, angelica.

Women with a Pitta constitution a combination of a diet that reduces Pitta is required, with the use of spices that have a monthly effect: turmeric, coriander, fennel, saffron, safflower. Hot spices should be avoided. Incense (jasmine, rose, sandalwood, gardenia) and fresh flowers are very useful. Of the Ayurvedic herbs, dandelion, aloe, shatavari, turmeric, musta, saffron (safflower), manjishta, brahmi and bhringaraj, motherwort, volodushka, mint, peony, May nettle, yarrow, raspberry leaf, skullcap, initial letter are used. It is good to drink tea "Sita".

Under Kapha constitution A Kapha-reducing diet is needed. Heavy or oily foods should be avoided. You can use spices without restrictions, including all hot, and light vegetables. From Ayurvedic herbs, aloe, turmeric, must, cinnamon, red and black pepper, pippali, ginger, calamus, safflower, peony, mint, rosemary, myrrh are used. It is good to use mixtures of spices Trikatu plus and Ojasan.

Also at painful periods, according to recent studies, enemas "Dashmul kshira basti" are successfully used in parallel with "Chandraprabha vati" 1 tablet 400 mg twice a day before meals for 1 month.

Dashmula is a standard mixture of the roots of ten plants, where other herbs may be added according to the needs of the patient. In addition, a little honey and a pinch of salt are traditionally added to the basti mixture. Salt increases secretion in the large intestine. The specific content of basti, the proportions of water and oil, as well as the total volume, the attending physician selects depending on the constitution of the patient, the condition of the large intestine, the strength of the digestive fire and the specifics of the disease against which the treatment is directed. It is good to alternate oil microclysters (anuvasana) and herbal ones (niruha). The course is 8 days, starting from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. Oil microclysters - 50 ml, herbal 500 ml. It is worth alternating enemas in this way: anuvasana - niruha-anuvasana - niruha - anuvasana-niruha - anuvasana - anuvasana.

The drug "Dashmula" is also used in tablets and capsules for internal use. It has a cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the body, harmonizes endocrine system. Indications for the use of "Chandraprabha" are acute and chronic bacterial diseases urinary tract, urolithiasis, obesity.

Of the ready-made forms for general treatment for PMS, they use: "Reston", "Shatavari", "Ashwagandha", "Formula of calm", "Precious mixture for women", "Femikalp", "Brahmivati", "Airsan", "Rilexan", "Women's Health", "Menkor", "Peach Kernel Oil".

Useful tea from chamomile, angelica, viburnum bark or shamballa seeds. It is good to drink parsley juice or a mixture of parsley juice with carrot, cucumber or beetroot.

    Hypermenorrhea - heavy periods

Hypermenorrhea often indicates more serious problems(uterine fibroids), and therefore it is necessary to find the cause and act on it. This is a Pitta-Vata imbalance. Caused by "impure blood" and the weakening of Apana Vata.

In this condition, it is necessary to avoid the use of stimulants, physical and psychological stress, hot, spicy, sour or heavy foods. It should be cool, an ice pack can be applied to the lower abdomen. Astringent and hemostatic herbs are used, such as hibiscus, raspberry or manjista. Use a decoction of pomegranate peels or pomegranate peel powder. If the condition does not improve, tonic herbs are added. Immediately after the bleeding subsides, they switch to the same tonics as in the treatment of anemia: draksha (wine) from elderberry fruits, spirulina, Fero with iron basma, Urja, etc. With anemia, drinking a drink from a mixture of pomegranate juice with grape 2:1, with one spoonful of sugar and a pinch of ginger.

From herbs, agrimony, yarrow, summer nettle, arjuna, shatavari, amalaki, bringa-raj, blackhead, mullein, wormwood are also used. An excellent remedy is shatavari and manjista churna in equal parts.

They also use "Sukhasini", "Shatavari", "Water Pepper" tincture, "Arnica". "Arnica" as ambulance 27 drops per 50 ml of water are taken every two hours until the bleeding stops and the volume of menstruation normalizes.

    Oligomenorrhea - scanty periods

Quite often, oligomenorrhea occurs against the background of some chronic disease, anemia, neuropsychiatric disorder, poisoning. Arises due to blockage of Apana Vata. Therefore, a nutritious diet is necessary, stress and workaholism should be avoided, especially for bright Pitta, do not overcool, correct stools for constipation.

For all types of doshas, turmeric with aloe juice and Chyawanprash are shown. An abdominal massage is prescribed with a mixture of castor and sesame oil 1: 1. For scanty menstruation, "Kumariasava", "Rajapravartini vati", a decoction or powder of sesame seeds with honey are good. "Rajapravartini vati" is prescribed 2 tablets 2 times a day for a week from the first day of menstruation or the expected first day with a delay. Contains boron burnt with herbs, purified copper sulfate, aloe and asafoetida. Promotes the onset of menstruation, reduces pain and has mild laxative properties.

Gonadotropic herbs: fragrant rue, lovage officinalis, hops, angelica, licorice, prutnyak, St.

I use a collection where the main herbs are the following.

Herbs: sweet clover, meadowsweet, fennel, raspberry 2 parts each, rosemary, elderflower, sage 1 part each, wormwood, mint, cumin ⅓ parts each. The reception scheme is standard.

pittam- aloe with turmeric, of course, as well as him, motherwort.

    Kapham- Trikatu plus, Ojasan.

Perhaps the use of a short course of potent plants in tincture. This is meadow lumbago (Pulsatilla pratensis), clematis-shaped kirkazon. The latter is prescribed in a short course and is categorically contraindicated in kidney disease.

    Amenorrhea

Amenorrhea is the delay or absence of menstruation. Causes: hormonal imbalance, hypothermia, poor nutrition and dehydration, anemia, malnutrition, uterine displacement, emotional trauma, and even chronic constipation. Amenorrhea can occur as a result of serious illnesses, deficiency symptoms predominate, as this is a long-term condition, usually associated with Vata.

Therefore, a Vata-reducing or tonic diet is prescribed in the first place: dairy products, meat, nuts, oils, whole grains and other nutritious foods. Of great importance are biological additives containing iron, or Ayurvedic preparations from iron ash. Warm sesame oil is recommended to lubricate the lower abdomen or douching.
