Feelings after laser vision correction. Reviews about laser correction

Good day, our readers of the blog 33Devici.Ru. In this article we will talk about such a fashionable procedure as laser vision correction. Not everyone these days has eagle vision, everyone decides for themselves how to deal with this problem. Personally, I have tried many methods, ranging from psychological books - trainings - “How to get rid of glasses”, to modern and comfortable lenses. At that time I was myopic, and my vision was 2.5 in both eyes. But the only thing that really helped me solve the problem was laser vision correction surgery, the cost of which today is not so great (about 30,000 rubles).

Currently modern medicine took a big step forward, and now this procedure no need to pay crazy money. The only thing you need to decide on is a laser vision correction clinic, of which there are now a huge number, and your desire to look at the world with new eyes.

I decided to have this operation for about a year, read a lot of reviews, listened to a lot of recommendations from friends who had gone through this and finally decided, and this is how it was...

Laser correction clinics

Laser correction clinics

The first problem I faced was choosing a laser vision correction clinic, of which a lot had opened in our city. Here I set myself 2 conditions: the price and quality of the services provided. If the price was more or less clear, since prices are always indicated on clinic websites (the average price for laser vision correction ranges from 27,000 to 40,000 rubles for both eyes), then with the quality, I had to rely on the opinions of people who have already had the operation .

The Oximer and Prozrenie clinics have a good reputation in the eyes of my friends, which cannot be said about the so often advertised Visus unit clinic.

I settled on the Oximer clinic, since the services there were a little cheaper, and the quality was at the same level. When the money was collected and I firmly decided that I would get rid of glasses forever, I called the clinic and made an appointment for a consultation.

I was scheduled for a consultation 3 days after my call. And this is where my path to insight began.

How does the laser vision correction procedure work?

Laser vision correction procedure

Arriving at the clinic, the receptionist directed me to general examination eye, which cost 700 rubles. But in some centers it is included in the price. It’s especially nice that the old posters with small letters are a thing of the past. Now everything is done by computers. After a 30-minute examination, I was not found to have any abnormalities that would not allow me to undergo laser vision correction surgery. I warn you right away that there are restrictions on this procedure:

Existing eye injuries

With high blood pressure.

In any case, an experienced specialist will check before the operation.

After the examination, I was scheduled for surgery in 2 days. These 2 days of excitement did not leave me, and so I arrived at the clinic. Arriving at the clinic, I signed an agreement on the provision of medical services and paid 29,000 rubles to the cashier. (One eye – 14,500). I was taken to the operating room where 2 people were already sitting for a similar operation. It was especially surprising for me to see a 70-year-old grandmother who was very worried. As it turned out later, she had cataracts removed from her eye.

Correction procedure

30 minutes before the operation, drops were dropped into my eyes to dilate the pupils, then the first discomfort appeared, as everything gradually began to blur in my eyes. Pleasant music and soft leather chairs in the waiting room. The same grandmother was sent for surgery first. 10 minutes later she left the operating room with good mood, which drove away my worries. Now it's my turn. They put a hair cap on me and laid me on operating table. The surgeon reassured me that everything would go quickly and painlessly. They put eye drops on my eyes again, but this time with painkilling drops and perhaps the most disgusting procedure - they put clamps on both eyes, these are steel frames that are put on eyeball, after which the eye will no longer be able to turn in any direction.

Then a special device is brought to the eye, through which the laser passes. All you will see is a small red dot in the distance. The doctor warned that the laser would now work. A couple of flashes and the device is transferred to the second eye. The whole operation took no more than 5 minutes. I left the operating room, in the next office they checked the condition of my eye again and said that the operation went well. The first sensation after correction is that the eye is too sensitive to light. Therefore, it is not recommended to immediately drive after surgery and it is better to stock up on sunglasses. The doctor said that in 2 days the eyes will fully recover. I was given special drops and they said that after laser correction you cannot visit saunas and steam baths for 2 months. To my question about alcohol and physical activity, they answered that there are no restrictions. Although, according to the stories of my friends, they were also not recommended to lift weights.

After 2 weeks, I went for a check-up and was told that my vision was completely restored.

I left the glasses as a souvenir on the far shelf...))

Many people constantly wonder whether to undergo laser vision correction?

For myself, I answered this question a long time ago, and now I don’t have to wear 3D glasses over optical glasses in the cinema for 3D films. The only time I regretted the operation was the evening of the day after the operation. When the pain-relieving drops stopped working, any light seemed unbearably bright, and there was a feeling in the eye. constant feeling foreign object. But the next morning I already saw the world in a new light. Light sensitivity returned to normal, all objects became clear, and even every leaf on the trees had its own shape.

So don’t be afraid to take new steps towards a new life, it’s not as scary as it seems. Trust experienced specialists and you won't regret it. Good luck to all!

I want to do laser vision correction, but I'm scared. Write who did it dangerous?

Having completed the correction of short-sightedness in the British Center this past week (-3 points). No lenses and especially eyepieces can compare with correction! Let’s make a fortune for everyone and forget about this problem again!

I did it at Excimer in Odessa at the end of May this year. I got caught up in some kind of promotion (-10%). They have a new clinic there and modern equipment, which is very rare in Ukraine. I wore glasses -3 and -3.25. On my left eye slight astegmatism. I had tests done and was examined. I chose FEMTO LASIK. Expensive, but the safest. The doctors at Exy are all quite attentive, but they don’t like to talk too much, and I spent a long time collecting information from everywhere about laser correction. In general, I decided. It took me a long time to undergo the operation prepared, but the operation itself was short (no more than 10 minutes). I wouldn’t say that it was painful, rather unpleasant when the laser works. Very strong light, your eyes water, and some kind of crap is pressing on your eye (it seems like an eyelid holder and a vacuum attachment some kind) and the doctor constantly comments on all the manipulations. The operation ended and the nurse (a very responsive and attentive person) carefully led him out into the corridor, sat him on the sofa, made tea (of choice) and offered cookies. While he was sitting and catching the waste, he gradually began to unwind everything around me looks differently. It’s like sand has been poured into my eyes. It’s impossible to look at bright objects. Everything is visible clearly, but as if through cellophane. After half an hour I recovered a little and went downstairs to see the doctor. She examined me and said that everything was fine. I called car and drove home. They recommended blinking as often as possible. After 3-4 hours, photophobia decreased significantly, as did the pain in the eyes. The eyes were red like a bull's on a rag. The whole evening passed in sunglasses in dim light in the house. I didn’t turn on the TV or the computer at all. I was dripping drops about every half hour (given at Exi). In the morning I got up and could quite easily do without sunglasses in the house. After lunch, I calmly drove my car to the reception to the doctor. The doctors examined and reported that the left eye was 1.2, and the right was 1. They promised the left eye was 1, and the right. 0.9. They said that the burst vessels would go away in 2-3 weeks, although in fact the left eye went away in 3 weeks, and the right eye in at least a month.

In general, 100% vision is not bad, but there are drawbacks.

1. 2 months have passed, but I still periodically (at first it was more often) in one or the other eye, I have the sensation of a speck of dust getting into the eye.

2. Sometimes helicopters (mostly yellow) fly by. Less often, and the doctor said that with time will pass at all.

2. There are halos around some glowing objects (not all). It doesn’t interfere in any way, but it’s still unusual.

3. The most important thing. My vision up close has become noticeably worse. Although the doctors warned in advance that this would happen. Previously, I could easily count the freckles on the tip of my nose in the summer, but now I can’t see anything closer than 20 cm.

4. Rarely, but there are small double visions (they say that the full consequences of the operation will go away in a year). At first, the focusing of the eyes was poor when moving from near to far and vice versa (now it seems to have stabilized).

5. Slight photophobia. In bright daylight it is difficult without sunglasses.

6. It didn’t happen before, but after the operation, slight souring of the eyes appeared, as with conjunctivitis, although I didn’t wash my face for a WEEK (I only wiped my face with a damp cloth - I was afraid of infection) and followed all the doctor’s recommendations. This still needs to be sorted out.

7. They prohibited lifting weights of more than 10-15 kg for 7 days. And at work, I sometimes have to lift 25-30 kg. at a time and a ton a day, or even more. Now it’s already possible.

I can’t recommend anything to anyone. The choice is yours. So far I see more pros than cons. But I advise you not to be afraid and decide for yourself: do you need it? Personally, many people told me that I did it in vain, since I have I had cool glasses and they gave me charm and they walked. Now they have changed somewhat and from the point of view of cuteness they have become even worse than they were. But whoever stopped liking them is their problem.

We were glad to help morally.

Indeed, rehabilitation after surgery is individual for everyone.

“I’ve been wearing lenses for 23 years without breaks or days off (I only take them off at night). Everything is OK.” - you should never renounce. I wore contact lenses for 25 years (I took them off at night and sometimes wore glasses on weekends), until at one point my eyes began to constantly become inflamed, even from new lenses! and I have -9, and glasses do not correct such vision, in best case scenario until 6. Wearing glasses, you walk around the city almost by touch.

But I didn’t recover from the operation so easily. I tried to go to bed at home when I returned, but the tears flowed so freely that I couldn’t sleep and there was pain in my eyes. For the first 2 days I couldn’t even watch TV without sunglasses. And the redness in one eye took a long time to disappear. It probably depends on the individual. and still I'm satisfied with the results. It was -6.5, now - half a diopter - almost ideal for me. If anyone needs it, I recommend doctor Tatyana Vladimirovna Manoilo.

Whether it is dangerous or not, the clinic where you decide to do it will determine the degree of danger after an examination. If something threatens them, in theory they won’t do anything. For them, these are also reputational risks that they do not want.

Optimed clinic Kiev

People, if you want to see at least something else with your own eyes. Do not contact this sharashka office. I am sure that I am not the only victim of these pseudo-doctors. By leaving this review I just want to warn other people.

I had myopia weak degree(-1.75 and -2), in Optimed I was prescribed laser correction using the LASEK method. I paid almost 7000 UAH at a discount.

Doctor Demin promised 90-100% vision and rehabilitation for up to 3 weeks. After the op, I suffered from terrible pain for more than a week and could only open my eyes in absolute dark room, but it fell catastrophically and for the third month now I have been living in the dark, my vision is much lower than pre-operative indicators

At every inspection they promised me everything. Well, will you soon see the light? At another clinic they told me. Your burnt cornea will most likely have to be resurfaced with a laser, but we no longer give a guarantee that we will be able to restore your vision╩

Director of the Optimed clinic Khraplyuk S.M. (by the way, this person does not have a medical education or even the slightest idea about ophthalmology, but he calls patients “clients of my business?” in his words. Well, this is also a result, we worked, we paid salaries to employees? A person for them is just a wallet and probably even They would also consider complete blindness to be a result)

refused to reimburse insurance (which they did not have) for the cost of the operation, saying: “most likely your vision will return someday, but we will not return the money for the operation, you will not win a court case in our country, but we will have clients?” I was made out to look like I was an extortionist, despite the fact that they didn’t hear any rudeness from me and I don’t pursue any selfish goals

The only thing I want is a miracle! I want to read books to my child like before and see the moon in the sky and not just two blurry spots? I want to warn other people not to repeat my mistake, not to contact these would-be doctors, not to be fooled by promotions and discounts, it’s better to save up some money and turn to professionals who are also responsible for their work.

Laser vision correction reviews. My experience

For me, this operation was a real miracle: that day I went into the city ophthalmological hospital wearing glasses, and a few hours later I left without them and practically started a new life.

How I decided to have LASIK laser correction

By the time of the operation, my vision was minus seven. That is, on the table for testing vision, without glasses, I did not see a single line at all. Naturally, I constantly used glasses or contacts, since without them even just going outside would be dangerous.

I gave preference to lenses. I started wearing them at the age of 16, but after 8 years of wearing them, my intolerance to them began to appear, my body began to reject them. No matter what lenses and solutions for them I tried, no matter what moisturizing drops I instilled, my eyes were constantly red and hurt terribly. I’m just tired of answering questions from others: “Why are your eyes so red?”

I read on the Internet that this often happens after several years of using lenses, and I learned that I was not alone. But this did not console me. I also didn’t want to wear glasses exclusively. Neither play sports, nor swim in the pool... And only the moments when, from minus 30 below zero, you walk into the warm room, what are they worth!

And I decided not to postpone the operation any longer. Moreover, more and more people around me decided to undergo laser correction. What pushed me to the decision especially quickly was the example of one friend who, at the age of 40, had surgery and got rid of myopia, and after 2-3 years she had to put on glasses again - this time due to inevitable age-related farsightedness.

I was 24 years old and I didn’t want to repeat her experience. It seemed very tempting to enjoy good vision for as long as possible, namely in one’s younger years.

As for the financial side of the matter, I can say for sure that the operation has already fully paid for itself. With my minus seven diopters (this is a high degree of myopia), the entire procedure cost me 22 thousand rubles. By the way, the cost depends on the degree of myopia: what better vision, the cheaper.

Well, there is no need to tell you how much glasses, lenses and care products cost now. Therefore, the arithmetic here is simple.

Preparation for laser correction

One of the most important conditions for a successful operation: myopia should not progress, otherwise the result will be unstable. For example, by the time of the operation, my vision had been stable for 2-3 years. And I decided to sign up for a preliminary consultation at the laser center.

There I had a complete and very detailed eye examination. They also measured the eye pressure and the thickness of the cornea (after all, it is its layer that the laser will evaporate). The entire examination took me several hours.

Next, I went to talk with the doctor, who subsequently performed my operation. After reviewing all the results of the examinations, the doctor said that the LASIK method was indicated for me (“Hurray!”) and assigned a date when I needed to appear for it, taking with me sunglasses. Since photophobia will be felt for some time.

By the way, the doctor told me that he doesn’t like to use the word “operation” in relation to this procedure. It scares people and sounds too threatening, but there is nothing so scary about laser correction. But may the doctor forgive me :) Out of habit, I still call LASIK an “operation.”

He also explained to me in detail how the correction would take place. Briefly, it sounded like this: using a special device (microkeratome), they will remove a flap from the top layer of the cornea, then the laser will evaporate the tissue by a given number of microns (it will be pre-calculated by the computer individually for both of my eyes), and the flap will be “glued” back. Thus, the curvature of the cornea will change and visual acuity will be improved.

I was looking forward to the day of the operation, but unexpectedly I was overcome with disappointment. Even though it was June, I managed to catch a cold a few days before important event. I was terribly upset and tried to urgently get my health in order. But everything was useless: a runny nose, cough and even a slightly elevated temperature did not disappear.

Then I decided to call the doctor to cancel the operation, and he praised me for being conscientious. After all, the infection that was present in my body at that time could have a bad effect on the result and slow down the healing of the eyes. Therefore, I had to postpone LASIK for 3 whole weeks.

I already began to doubt: “What if this is a sign that I shouldn’t have surgery?” But then I decided to tune in and repeated to myself that everything that was done was for the better.

Day of surgery

I must admit that I was very nervous on the way to the hospital. But when I arrived at the office at the appointed time, I tried to imagine that everything was over and began to calm down.

And I felt completely calm and relaxed while waiting for my turn in the lobby of the operating block. And the reason is simple: besides me, there were about 15 other people awaiting surgery. Someone was talking, someone was dozing in a chair, and the nurse, who appeared on the threshold every 10 minutes, called the name of the next one.

I decided: “So many people decide to undergo surgery, and so many patients benefit from the skillful hands of an experienced doctor and advanced medical technology give excellent vision. So why am I afraid? And so, unnoticed, time flew by, and my turn came.

Of the entire operation, the most terrifying moment seemed to me when I had to fix my gaze on a luminous point. At this moment, a flap is removed from the cornea, and vision loses all clarity, everything “floats” as if in a fog. Fortunately, this only lasts a couple of minutes.

But when the patch was “glued” back, I immediately noticed the difference. I had to go from the operating room to another room and rest there for about 15 minutes. I lay on the couch and almost cried with happiness, catching glimpses of my new, good vision.

An hour after the operation, the doctor examined me again and sent me home. I was given a supply of eye drops, sick leave for a week, and I had to put up with lacrimation and photophobia for a while, try not to strain my eyes unnecessarily and follow all the doctor’s recommendations.

That day I couldn’t read or watch TV, so in the evening, putting on huge dark glasses, I went... for a walk. I wanted to “test” my eyes everywhere and on everything. The world seemed to sparkle with new colors and details that I had not noticed before.

Postoperative period

The next day I woke up with very swollen eyelids, but by evening the swelling subsided. The tearing also stopped (except for the occasional tears of joy), and the eyes, contrary to my fears, were not even red.

The clarity of vision increased every day, and compliance with postoperative recommendations did not cause much trouble. By the way, here are some of these recommendations (and as you can see, there is nothing complicated about them):

Try not to be in the bright sun and wear sunglasses when going outside so as not to injure the cornea that has not yet healed.

Do not use eye cosmetics for a month.

According to a special scheme, drops should be instilled into the eyes for a month.

Do not rub your eyes under any circumstances, and even if they water, wipe the tear from your cheek, not from your eyelid.

Do not swim in the pool or open water for two months and do not sunbathe for six months.

Distance and near vision is finally established 2-3 months after surgery. That is, only then can we draw conclusions about its success.

Result after 4.5 years

Am I satisfied with the result of the operation? Yes very! One eye sees perfectly, the other has slight myopia (compared to the former minus seven, barely noticeable). The doctor immediately warned me that the result would be as good as the condition of my eyes would allow.

I don’t need “eagle-like” vision. But I forgot about the hated “crutches” for the eyes (that is, glasses with diopters) and about the lenses that always rub. In the time that has passed since the operation, I have successfully overcome pregnancy and natural childbirth, read a lot of books, spent many hours in front of a computer monitor. And the eyes can withstand all these tests without problems.

Also, in addition to myopia, the operation relieved me of astigmatism in my left eye (in which objects and text often doubled and tripled in front of my eyes). And I also noticed that the headaches that had constantly plagued me before had gone away. It may be a coincidence, but I associate them with poor eyesight and constant eye strain.

Therefore, in general, I have only positive impressions of the operation. I received even more than I expected. I don’t want to agitate or persuade anyone to undergo such an operation: the decision must come on its own. But if you, like me, have decided to take it on, then you shouldn’t be afraid. The result will make you very happy and will change your life for the better!

who has had laser vision correction? I'd like to hear feedback.

Laser correction of myopia (patient sensations)

A few days ago I came across interesting article. The author of the Smart Blog (link below) describes how, with the help of laser correction, he was cured of myopia of minus 6 diopters (this is on the border between moderate and severe). I am publishing here in some abbreviation, with explanations and drawings (I am not an ophthalmologist, but general principles Understand). The case took place in Ukraine in 2007, the total cost of treatment was about $1,700. Would you dare to undergo such an operation, even if it was free?

Finding a cure

For as long as I can remember, I have always worn glasses. At school, at college, at work. Sometimes I got tired of glasses and switched to contact lenses. When my eyes started to hurt from the lenses, I went back to glasses. This torment continued for more than 20 years... And last year I told myself “enough is enough!” How long can you tolerate?

I started looking on the Internet for information about methods of treating myopia (I had about &minus6, I knew the first few lines of the sign from the ophthalmologist by heart, but didn’t see a single one - only blurry spots). I tried different methods, suggestion, exercises. But either I didn’t have enough patience for this, or maybe I didn’t fully believe in the possibility of such healing, but nothing worked for me. The maximum I could achieve was about half a diopter of improvement. when I went without glasses for six months. But what inconveniences I had to experience. Constantly squinting while looking at numbers public transport, sitting with your nose at the monitor and many other “delights”.

Decision is made

After all these attempts, I decided to undergo laser correction. I used to read a lot about it on the Internet, I basically understood the process, there was no fear, despite the fact that my friends dissuaded me, citing various “ real evidence” and articles that you can completely lose your vision after such an operation, that no one gives a guarantee and that in general it is dangerous.

With myopia, the rays are concentrated in front of the retina. with farsightedness - behind it, normally - on the retina. To understand the principle of laser correction of myopia, you need to remember the structure of the eye. The light beam first passes through the cornea, which strongly refracts it. Therefore, removing the middle part of the cornea (thickness) will reduce the refractive power of the eye and allow the rays to focus on the retina, rather than in front of it. Disadvantages: the cornea becomes thinner, so with eye injuries and physical stress, it can rupture more quickly than a non-operated one. I don’t know whether such cases have happened in practice or not, but in theory this is possible.

Path of rays (light)

Description of laser correction of myopia

1) a thin protective corneal flap in the form of a cap is created

2) 60 seconds or less is used cold light excimer laser

3) myopia corrected: central part the cornea was made thinner,

so the rays are now focused on the retina as expected.

Stages of laser correction of myopia

(from left to right and top to bottom).

The choice in Ukraine is small; there are only 3 companies engaged in laser correction. They are approximately the same in scale, and the number of branches is also approximately the same. The examination is paid, about $60.

(.missed: failed order attempt.)

An hour later they called me back and it was nice female voice I asked at what time it would be convenient for me to make an appointment, what I was complaining about in advance, and so on. Since I do not live in Kyiv, but 240 km from it. I signed up for Saturday - a day off. It was interesting and a little scary, because the examination was supposed to last several hours, I could not even imagine that it was possible to study the eyes for several hours

Survey

On Saturday I arrived for examination. First of all, I noted that I was there, I had to wait a little. They just got me a card. entered passport details and other information. 10 minutes later I was called into the office. Drops were immediately placed in both eyes. and again released into the corridor. The procedure was repeated 3 times with an interval of 10 minutes. As far as I understand, this was done to dilate the pupils.

After that, they began to call me one by one to different rooms where the examination was carried out. Everything was measured - eye diameter, fundus shape, eye pressure, temperature, and many other parameters. This all took about an hour and a half.

At the end of the process, I was invited to see the doctor. A middle-aged woman explained what was wrong with my eyes; it turned out that in addition to myopia, I also had problems with the retina. Several treatment options were proposed, but the main one was undoubtedly laser correction as the fastest and most reliable. I agreed. After this, an agreement was concluded with the company that I would undergo preparatory and main vision correction surgery. Since the interval between interventions should be at least two weeks, the preparatory operation was scheduled for 2 weeks in advance.

Excimer laser

Preparatory operation

2 weeks have passed. I came to Kyiv again, checked in at the reception again, and waited a little again. They put drops in my eyes again several times, but now they invited me to another office. There they generously smeared my eyes with some kind of compound, installed my head in a cunning device so that it would not move, and tied it with a strap. After this, the procedure began. This is called a preparatory operation. it consists in “welding” the retina to fundus. Why is this being done? Most nearsighted people have related problem- retinal detachment. During the main operation, the eye experiences significant stress, and to guarantee the result, the retina is “strengthened”.

The essence of the operation is that microscars are created on the retina using a powerful green laser. which, after healing, are “attracted” to the fundus. The duration of the operation is about 15 minutes. The procedure itself is not painful, but quite unpleasant. since they shine pulses of bright green light into your eye, but you can’t blink - a special lens hood prevents you from doing this - something like a watchmaker’s loupe, but larger.

As far as I understand, this operation is called photocoagulation and is performed when there is a threat of retinal detachment. Myopic people are more susceptible to the development of retinal detachment due to elongation of the eye and overextension of all its membranes. Detachment leads to blindness and disability. Therefore, using a laser, microburns are created on the retina in certain places, which, when healing, are replaced by connective tissue and protect the tissue from delamination.

A variant of a device that prevents the eye from blinking.

Retinal detachment due to myopia is characterized by its sudden onset. notice an unexpected deterioration in vision - clouds, fog before the eyes, limitation of the field of vision. Often a patient with myopia indicates exactly which side this blurring appeared on. Often, with myopia (myopia), before vision deterioration due to retinal detachment, flashes appear in the form of sparks, lightning, as well as a mass of floating dots in the form of soot flakes, floating lace, a black curtain and until the field of view is completely darkened, curvature, vibration of objects, followed by sharp decline objective vision, sometimes vision of colored, fiery circles, etc. These phenomena appear especially clearly during eye movements. They can be observed not only with retinal detachment, but their appearance in myopia (myopia) obliges the doctor to perform a thorough ophthalmoscopic examination in order to timely establish a diagnosis of detachment.

The most interesting thing began after. Everything around was bright pink for half an hour. The doctor explained that this was due to the “overload” of the eyes with bright light, and would soon go away. And so it happened.

During the first preliminary operation, the doctor did not have time to do everything (a certain amount of the retina can be “sewn on” at one time), so after two weeks the procedure was repeated.

Laser vision correction

After that, I was booked in two weeks for the main operation. It was necessary to have replaceable shoes, dark glasses and two certificates with you - about the absence of syphilis and hepatitis. The inquiries were successfully made, the dark glasses were found, the shoes were prepared. I was ready for action.

By the way, this is not a lyrical digression. About money. All procedures are pre-paid and can be paid by credit card. The payment procedure is arbitrary - you can pay the entire amount at once, or in parts. The basic rule is that everything must be paid on the day of the operation. about which a corresponding note is made in the patient’s card.

Two weeks later I came to Kyiv again. Now the wait was a little longer, after which I was called to surgery department. There were already 7 people sitting there, I was the eighth. Everyone wore surgical gowns with ties at the back, shoe covers and special caps. Special drops were dropped into the eyes. We started to wait. After 5 minutes they instilled it again. Once again. The purpose of the drops remained unclear to me - visual acuity did not change, and there was no analgesic effect either. Most likely it was an antiseptic. Anyone who wanted it was offered a sedative. I wasn't scared, so I refused.

After some time, the patients began to be taken out one by one. When it was my turn, the nurse led me down the corridor and into a small room. There were 4 people there - a laser operator, his assistant and two nurses. The device itself is a medium-sized cabinet, under which a couch with a patient slides. They put me on a couch and put on a special mask. leaving access to only one eye. The couch slid smoothly under the device. After this, a painkiller was dropped into the eye. It’s an interesting feeling – one drop and your eye feels like rubber. The nurse checked with a special stick with cotton wool, I don’t feel anything. The doctor began to give instructions, which made me understand what they would do. First, they applied something like a ring with air to the eye. After pumping the air out of it, the ring pressed tightly against the eye. At that moment I no longer saw anything, I only heard. There was a strange sound, like a drill. This is a special scalpel - microkeratome - removed upper layer cornea. but not completely, forming something like a flap, and folded it back. After this, the eye adapted to the pressure, and I saw a very blurry spot. The doctor said to look at it for 20 seconds, and at that time the infrared laser itself started working. correcting the shape of the cornea. It turned out to be completely painless.

After correction, the flap was placed in place, and eye drops were placed into the eye. a large number of healing solution. which was very pleasant to feel - like a chill, only on the eye.

The same operation was performed on the second eye. After that, I left the machine, and the nurse helped me out and took me to the waiting room. At this time I already saw more clearly than before, only everything was in a fog.

After the operation, I was prescribed eye drops, several times a day for a week. The next day it was necessary to come for examination. It confirmed that my vision was 100%. Subsequent checks - in the second week, a month later - confirmed this value. So now I see fully and am very grateful to the company for the good work.

Why did I write this article? When I decided to have surgery, I was interested in talking to someone who had already done it. But in our small city of 400,000 people, I never found like-minded people. Perhaps this article will help you make up your mind, or will remove some questions that are stopping you. Don’t be afraid, it doesn’t hurt, and the result will exceed all your expectations - I say this with full responsibility.

I wish you health and 100% vision!

Currently receiving wide use a new non-surgical method for correcting myopia in adults and children called orthokeratology. The technique involves the patient regularly wearing special contact lenses during sleep ( OK lenses, night contact lenses). The essence of orthokeratology is that OK lenses put more pressure on the corneal epithelium in the center than on the periphery, which gradually causes thinning of the cornea in the center to a minimum value of 20-30 microns, which is sufficient for significant improvement daytime vision. The use of OK lenses is indicated for adults and children from 7 to 40 years old with myopia up to &minus6 diopters and astigmatism up to &minus1.5 diopters. True, the effect of orthokeratology is reversible. After stopping the use of OK lenses, vision gradually becomes the same as before the correction.

Laser vision correction. Has anyone done it? How did you feel during and after the operation? What anesthesia? Are you satisfied with the result?

I did it in August last year. Satisfied is not the right word! Vision - 100%.

There is no anesthesia at all, the eyelids are fixed with a clamp and you need to watch the glare on the device. At this time, the surgeon removes the outer shell, corrects the lens, puts the laser back in place and the laser secures everything.

Svintus Oracle (86033) 3 years ago

A friend of mine did it, but a long time ago. 13 years ago))) my vision stopped deteriorating. There was general anesthesia, the bandage lasted for about 3 days

Ingrid Bjorn Enlightened (34486) 3 years ago

Made in 2003 by the Fedorov Institute.

Myopia was very good. high - 11.5 and 12. Now (since the operation) 1.5 each, this is very good. Fine.

Anesthesia is just drops in the eyes. Afterwards it doesn't hurt anymore. Unpleasant moments Of course there is, but everything is more than tolerable.

After laser exposure, a special flap. the instrument is pressed back, smoothed, several times during the operation. times moisturize the eye.

For some people, such surgery is not indicated at all - this is decided by the doctor.

But the most unpleasant thing began later, about an hour after the operation, the anesthesia wore off and my eyes began to hurt wildly, it felt like there was sand in my eyes and it was impossible to get it out. the first night I slept sitting, with my head bowed on my chest... only in this position could I more or less endure painful sensations. Here.

Quote message from Irina

Frankly speaking, the feeling is not very pleasant. Of course it doesn’t hurt, but at the same time you realize that someone is picking at your eye. -) When an incision is made, the sound is like a dentist’s drill, and the laser smells very strongly of burnt hair. To be honest, at some point I thought I was going to lose consciousness. When they did one of my eyes and asked how I was feeling, I answered that I was leaving.

Laser vision correction - myths and reality

Only those who have spent their lives captivated by dependence on glasses, lenses, containers and other accessories will understand the full value of vision without additional optics. The appearance of the so-called “Fedorov notches” partially solved this problem, but was fraught with serious postoperative complications. Only the advent of the excimer laser in the early 80s allowed millions of people to give up glasses and contacts without fear of the consequences of correction. Today, in 53 countries around the world, more than 1 million people a year get rid of glasses thanks to laser correction.

However, Ukrainians are still afraid to let modern technologies into their lives. Maybe because laser vision correction has become overgrown with countless myths. We asked the person who was the first in Ukraine to perform laser vision correction to confirm or refute these “facts”. This is a candidate medical sciences, member of the European and American Societies of Refractive and Cataract Surgeons Georgy Yakovlevich Parkhomenko. Today he heads the most experienced team of doctors at the Novy ZR clinic.

Laser correction vision is a modern procedure that allows painless and in a fast way decide problems of myopia, astigmatism, farsightedness.

Despite minimal risk such a procedure after it may arise unpleasant consequences and complications, most often associated with non-compliance with specialist recommendations.

Restoring vision after laser correction

To restore vision as quickly as possible it is necessary to strictly adhere to all doctor’s recommendations. So, on the first day it is forbidden to touch your eyes, and to avoid accidentally touching them at night, you need to use special occluders. In the clinic where the LKZ was performed, the patient will be given an antibiotic and an “Artificial tear” solution: they need to be instilled every two hours, waiting between drops interval is 5 minutes.

On the second day A secondary eye examination is performed, after which the doctor prescribes a suitable medication regimen. Antibiotics are usually prescribed for a week, drops and tears at least for a month after LKZ.

In the first seven days strictly prohibited alcoholic drinks, since they reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics.

However, patients can continue to familiar image life, without limiting oneself either physically or visual loads (the exception is cases of performing retinal coagulation before LKZ).

On the second day After surgery, with the permission of the attending physician, you can gently rinse your eyes, trying not to put pressure on them. And, within the first two weeks it is necessary to minimize any contact with patients with acute respiratory viral infections, colds, flu, try not to overcool, hide your eyes from cold air, which can lead to inflammation.

Risks of complications, possible medical errors

Despite the fact that LKZ is considered quite safe procedure, complications may arise after it - Most often they are caused by medical errors.

Keratoectasia

Considered the most serious complication, which manifests itself as a gradual protrusion of the corneas of the eye, which can cause severe itching, reduce visual acuity.

Photo 1. Keratoectasia after laser vision correction. With it, the cornea takes on a cone-shaped shape.

Most often, keratoectasia occurs in case of problems with the biomechanics of the cornea - this may be due to incorrect or incomplete diagnosis. That's why it's so important that diagnostic measures were carried out in full.

Another reason is the wrong choice of diagnostic method.. For example, patients at the initial stage cannot undergo LZK - only PRK (photorefractive keratectomy).

It is also possible secondary keratoconus— a complication that is quite problematic and requires urgent cross-linking.

Corneal flap detachment

Another possible complication which can occur after laser vision correction.

Attention! Any corrective measures for such a complication imply further giving up sports.

Detachment occurs due to the peculiarities of the LKZ procedure.

To perform the procedure, a “lid” is cut in the upper corneal layer: it is folded back for laser ablation, and then returned to its original position.

It is connected to the cornea by a thin bridge and a narrow layer of skin. After the procedure, the flap does not grow completely- it is held together only due to the presence of a piece of surface epithelium.

As a result, the corneal flap is detached.

Halo effect

So they call it "halo" that is visible around a light source at night. It all depends on the size of the correction area. Typically, the size of the correction zone is 7 mm however, in some people the pupil opens in complete darkness up to 8 mm- a millimeter difference leads to the appearance of a “halo”.

Keratitis

Quite a serious complication, which is inflammation of the cornea as a result of infection.

Solution - usage medical supplies, or surgery(on late stages).

Photo 2. Keratitis as a complication after laser vision correction. It causes inflammation of the cornea.

Inconveniences are usually caused by minor mechanical damage to tissues, individual reaction body. Therefore, with complete healing, which usually takes about two weeks, the inflammation goes away without a trace.

What happens after LKZ: possible side effects for myopia

After laser vision correction for myopia, other complications arise.

Red eyes

Redness of the eyes in the first few days- a variant of the norm, since these are the consequences of the operation. However, if the problem does not go away even after 1.5 months after correction, this may be caused by conjunctivitis or other inflammatory process(allergic or infectious nature).

One or both eyes hurt, feeling dry

If pain occurs in 1-1.5 months after LKZ one can assume the appearance of dry eye syndrome - dry eye syndrome.

Photo 3. Dry eye syndrome after LKZ. When it occurs, the organs of vision become red and pain occurs.

The reason may be a violation of the stability of the tear film. In such cases, it is recommended to conduct a study of the condition lacrimal apparatus, may prescribe moisturizing drops.

Does vision deteriorate after correction, what to do if I can’t see well up close

Deterioration of vision, or more precisely, the progression of myopia, can also be observed after the correction. This complication usually occurs in people at a young age whose eyes will still grow - in this case, the eliminated the problem may return or even get worse. Additional vision correction is necessary.

Whatever problem the patient faces, you should see an ophthalmologist, which will avoid more serious vision complications.

Disadvantages and long-term consequences of the LKZ

Long-term medical supervision after the LKZ required for timely detection possible problems and consequences.

Any sensations in human body, both external and internal, are possible only thanks to the functioning nerve tissue, the fibers of which are found in almost every organ. The eyes are no exception in this regard, therefore, when destructive processes begin in the optic nerve, a person faces partial or complete loss of vision.

Definition of disease

Atrophy optic nerve(or optic neuropathy) – the process of dying nerve fibers, which occurs gradually and is most often the result of a malnutrition of the nervous tissue due to poor blood supply.

Transmission of images from the retina to visual analyzer in the brain occurs along a kind of “cable”, consisting of many nerve fibers and packed in “insulation”. The thickness of the optic nerve is no more than 2 mm, but it contains more than a million fibers. Each section of the image corresponds to a certain part of them, and when some of them cease to function, “silent zones” (image disturbance) appear in the image perceived by the eye.

When nerve fiber cells die, they are gradually replaced by connective tissue or nerve auxiliary tissue (glia), which is normally designed to protect neurons.

Kinds

Depending on the causative factors, two types of optic nerve atrophy are distinguished:

Classification is also carried out according to the location of the lesion:

Also distinguish the following types atrophy: initial, partial, complete and incomplete; one-sided and two-sided; stationary and progressive; congenital and acquired.

Causes

The frequency of various pathological processes in the optic nerve is only 1-1.5%, and in 19-26% of them the disease ends complete atrophy and incurable blindness.

The cause of the development of optic nerve atrophy can be any disease that results in swelling, compression, inflammation, damage to nerve fibers or damage vascular system eye:

Whatever the reason for the onset of optic nerve atrophy, the nerve fibers die irrevocably, and the main thing is to quickly diagnose it in order to slow down the process in time.

Symptoms

The main sign of the onset of pathology can be a steadily progressive deterioration of vision in one or both eyes, and the usual ways it cannot be corrected. Visual functions are gradually lost:

The onset of symptoms may last several days or months, depending on the severity of the lesions, but without a timely response it invariably leads to complete blindness.

Possible complications

The diagnosis of “optic atrophy” must be made as early as possible, otherwise vision loss (partial or complete) is inevitable. Sometimes the disease affects only one eye - in this case the consequences are not so severe.

Rational and timely treatment the disease that causes atrophy allows in some cases (not always) to preserve vision. If the diagnosis is made at the stage of an already developed disease, the prognosis is most often unfavorable.

If the disease begins to develop in patients with vision indicators below 0.01, then treatment measures will most likely not give any result.

Diagnostics

Targeted ophthalmological examination– the first mandatory step if a disease is suspected. In addition, consultation with a neurosurgeon or neurologist may be required.

The following types of examinations may be performed to detect optic nerve atrophy:

To clarify the diagnosis and additional data, it is possible to conduct studies: CT, nuclear magnetic resonance, laser Dopplerography.

Treatment

If the nerve fibers are partially damaged, treatment must begin quickly and intensively. First of all, the efforts of doctors are aimed at eliminating the cause of the pathological condition in order to stop the progression of the disease.

Drug therapy

Since restoration of dead nerve fibers is impossible, therapeutic measures are taken to stop pathological process by all known means:

  • Vasodilators: Nicotinic acid, No-spa, Dibazol, Eufillin, Complamin, Papaverine, etc. The use of these drugs helps stimulate blood circulation;
  • Anticoagulants: Heparin, Tiklid. The drugs prevent blood thickening and the formation of blood clots;
  • Biogenic stimulants: Vitreous body, Aloe extract, Peat. Increase metabolism in nerve tissues;

Heparin ointment is used in the treatment of optic nerve arthritis

  • Vitamins: Ascorutin, B1, B6, B2. Are catalysts for most biochemical reactions, occurring in the tissues of the eyes, just like amino acids and enzymes;
  • Immunostimulants: Ginseng, Eleutherococcus. Necessary for stimulating regeneration processes and suppressing inflammation in infectious lesions;
  • Hormonal agents: Dexamethasone, Prednisolone. Used in the absence of contraindications to relieve symptoms of inflammation;
  • Improving the functioning of the central nervous system: Emoxipin, Nootropil, Cavinton, Cerebrolysin, Phezam.

Dexamethasone is used in the treatment of optic nerve osteoarthritis.

In each specific case, treatment is prescribed individually under the supervision of the attending physician.

In the absence of contraindications additional effect can be achieved using acupuncture, as well as physiotherapeutic treatment methods:

Such procedures can have positive effect in case of incomplete loss nerve cells its functionality.

Surgically

TO surgical methods resorted to when there is a threat of complete blindness, as well as in other situations requiring surgical intervention. The following types of operations can be used for this:

Various techniques for surgical treatment successfully practiced in clinics in Russia, Israel and Germany.

Folk remedies

Optic atrophy should be treated medications under the guidance of a qualified physician. However, such therapy often takes place long time, and in this case the means by folk recipes can provide invaluable help– after all, the action of most of them is aimed at stimulating metabolism and increasing blood circulation:

Use in treatment folk remedies should only be done after consulting an ophthalmologist, since most herbal ingredients have an allergenic effect and may have an unexpected effect in the presence of certain systemic pathologies.

Prevention

In order to avoid optic nerve atrophy, it is worth paying attention to preventive measures not only for eye, but also for systemic diseases:

  • Treat ocular and systemic infectious diseases in a timely manner;
  • Prevent eye and traumatic brain injuries;
  • Do preventive examinations in an oncology clinic;
  • Limit your consumption or eliminate alcohol from your life;
  • Get your blood pressure under control.

conclusions

Optic nerve atrophy is an almost incurable disease in the later stages that threatens the patient with complete blindness. However, partial atrophy can be stopped, and the main direction before developing medical tactics should be extensive diagnostics - after all, it is this that will allow us to establish the cause of the changes and try to stop them.

Therefore, try to pay special attention not only to the health of your eyes, but also to the health of your entire body. After all, everything in it is interconnected, and diseases of blood vessels or nerves can affect the quality of vision.

How is recovery after laser vision correction?

All basic information is perceived by a person through vision: shades, shapes of objects and their distance. If vision deteriorates, this ability weakens and gradually disappears. And, than worse person sees that worse quality his life in general. This explains the huge demand for vision correction procedures.

The most common method is the laser method, due to the least trauma to tissues and their rapid healing. This technique appeared relatively recently. At the beginning it was less effective, however, later scientists greatly improved it. Now, after such an operation, only five percent of patients experience problems in the form of complications or the need for additional procedure. This operation It is not suitable for everyone and has a number of individual contraindications:

  • pregnancy,
  • glaucoma,
  • cataract,
  • fundus changes,
  • diabetes,
  • arthritis,
  • AIDS, etc.

The first few hours after such an operation are the most critical. The healing of the operated eye depends on this. Therefore, the main task for the patient is not to harm his health, so that the recovery period goes faster. Self-treatment and the correct regimen are not a difficult task, and careful compliance with the doctor’s instructions guarantee a quick recovery.

Postoperative period

After this operation, you must follow all instructions from your doctor, including:

  1. Do not touch your eye until your first examination after leaving the clinic.
  2. For the first few days after surgery, you should not wash or take a bath.
  3. Avoid exposing your eyes to bright light and staying in cold or hot air for two weeks.
  4. Completely eliminate the use of cosmetics.
  5. Do not rub the operated eye too much.
  6. Do not visit the solarium, sauna or swimming pool for about 3-4 weeks.
  7. Apply drops exactly as scheduled.
  8. Avoid alcohol completely!
  9. Before instilling drops, your hands must be clean.
  10. You should not wear clothes with a tight neck.
  11. Protect your eyes from any mechanical injuries.
  12. Direct sunlight should be avoided.
  13. In sunny weather you should always wear sunglasses.
  14. Swimming in the pond is prohibited until treatment is completed.

The attending physician may impose additional restrictions depending on the general condition the patient’s health and the nuances of the operation performed and should be strictly observed. Whenever unpleasant sensation in the eyes or vision impairment, you should immediately consult your doctor. If the operation is performed without any complications and positive postoperative period come back to ordinary life It will be possible in a month.

Possible complications

Any surgical intervention has its complications. Laser correction is no exception. However, almost all of them are curable.

The possibility of their occurrence occurs in one eye out of hundreds of those operated on. However, before carrying out this procedure, you should find out everything about the possible consequences. Typically, this problem faces patients who have a high degree of plus and minus vision. The list of complications in this case is quite large, but in reality they are very rare:

  1. Insufficient or greater myopia or farsightedness. Even very careful preparation does not guarantee the absence of complications.
  2. Changed position of the flap or its complete loss. This usually occurs during or after the LASIK procedure due to touching the eye, poor connection between the cornea and the flap, or mechanical trauma to the eye. This can be corrected by returning the flap to the desired position and covering it with a lens, or by applying several sutures. In this case, there is a risk of deterioration of the resulting vision. If a flap is lost, recovery takes much longer.
  3. Laser center shift. This is possible if the patient shifts his gaze during the procedure. Therefore, when choosing a clinic, you need to find out what equipment it uses. The latest equipment has a special system that monitors every movement of the eye and quickly stops at any, even the slightest movement. Large offset can impair vision and cause double vision.
  4. Epithelial defects. Typically occurs during the LASIK procedure and is characterized by a sensation of a foreign object in the eye, severe tearing, and pain in bright light. Lasts about five days.
  5. Clouding of the cornea of the eye. May appear exclusively with PRK due to possible development in the cornea connective tissue due to inflammation. This problem can be solved by laser resurfacing of the cornea.
  6. Increased fear of light. Possible after each operation and disappears on its own after about one year.
  7. Different vision depending on the time of day. It is extremely rare and adapts after a certain time.
  8. The occurrence of infection. It is also very rare. Possible in case of non-compliance with the necessary instructions after the operation, also due to insufficient immunity or an existing infection in the body before the operation. Occurs in approximately 5% of patients and lasts up to a year. Treated with special drops.
  9. Double vision. It is also a rare occurrence.

Recovery time depending on the type of surgery

There are several methods of laser vision correction, which explains the different duration of rehabilitation after surgery.

Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is the very first of all laser correction methods. After this operation, the cornea of the eye is restored within three days. The process is quite unpleasant, since a new optical curvature may appear. If correction is necessary in both eyes, the second one can be operated on only after full recovery first eye.

Laser assisted keratomileusis (LASIK). This technique makes it possible to perform surgery on both eyes on the same day. Recovery after it occurs without any discomfort and lasts about 24 hours. There is another type of LASIK: when only the epithelial layer of the cornea is separated, which is why its deeper layers are not affected. This significantly reduces the risk of possible complications.

Each method is prescribed by a doctor strictly individually, depending on the indications.

Good day to all!

Today, almost 2 months after laser vision correction (LVC), I want to describe my story, results, my sensations and feelings that I experienced after the operation. I hope that for those who are about to make a decision to do or not to do LKZ, my long and detailed review will be useful.

HOW I DECIDED...

To be honest, I didn’t even think about doing laser vision correction. The mere thought that they would interfere with my eyes and do something there terrified me. In addition, the unknown consequences that could occur after the operation were frightening.

One of my close friends had such an operation and strongly recommended that I take the plunge, but I long and stubbornly rejected this idea until...

...one day, somewhere on the Internet, I read an article about LKZ and found out that after 40-45 years it is no longer done, due to age-related changes eye. And then something clicked inside me! I'm already 38! Another couple of years and I'll never be able to see well their eyes! And here I had a HUGE desire to make LKZ!

My vision at that time was -4.75 and -4.5 plus astigmatism. With such vision, I always wore glasses, but in them I saw only 80 percent, it annoyed me, astigmatism did not allow me to correct my vision to the proper level. And the special glasses were expensive and the optician never recommended them to me. I tried wearing contact lenses, but I felt uncomfortable wearing them, so I preferred glasses.

On the recommendation of my friend, I decided to have surgery in Interregional Laser Center (ILC) Tolyatti. I chose Togliatti because, firstly, it is the closest city to the village where I live, and secondly, there are reviews from real people I personally know who had vision correction done there and were satisfied with the result.

The center has its own official website. , where you can find all the information you are interested in.

I carefully studied all the necessary information, read all the reviews about this operation on Airek and other sites, and after hesitating for a while, weighing all the PROS and CONS, I decided!

First, it was necessary to undergo diagnostics costing 2000 rubles. At that time, the ILC had a promotion: if you have surgery within a month after the diagnosis, the money for the diagnosis will be returned.

DIAGNOSTICS

It is needed to determine the condition of the eyes, whether it is possible to have surgery at all, and to choose the method of the operation to be performed. The method is determined by the doctor.

My eyes were checked using various machines and instruments, my visual acuity, corneal thickness, retinal condition and a bunch of other indicators were measured.

The doctor said that there were no contraindications to the operation, only the retina needed to be strengthened in the right eye. I was prescribed laser coagulation of the retina. Without this procedure, LKZ surgery cannot be performed.

After diagnosis, the doctor prescribed surgery using the MAGEK method.

MAGEK (contact lens protected superficial keratectomy using mitomycin) is a modification of superficial techniques using a special drug "Mitomycin-S".

MAGEK is an improved knifeless laser correction technique. MAGEK is technically no different from PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), but there is a significant difference in the drugs used. After laser exposure, as a result of which parts of the collagen layer of the cornea evaporate, the cells begin to regenerate, which may manifest itself in the form of a slight regression (deterioration of the initial result) of your vision after surgery. With MAGEK, before applying a protective contact lens to the eye, the perimeter of the laser exposure is processed with a special drug Metomycin-C, which stops the regenerative processes of corneal cells, and thereby eliminates visual regression after surgery. Vision remains stable forever.

The main difference between MAGEK. from the LASIK method is that the rehabilitation process after surgery takes longer.

Cost 40,000 rub. on both eyes.

The diagnosing doctor immediately warned me that vision in the right eye would be restored by 100%, and in the left - 90%. Those. I will be able to see the last 10 and 9 rows on the check table respectively. (By the way, without glasses, I didn’t even see the largest line with letters Sh And B) They promised to remove the astigmatism completely. The effect of the operation should last a lifetime.

PREPARATION FOR OPERATION

Before the operation, all patients are given such a leaflet, which describes in detail what and how to do, what are the requirements before and restrictions after the operation.

Before surgery:

  • the patient must be completely healthy (no runny nose, cough, fever, herpes on the lips). If rescheduled colds- after complete recovery, 14 days must pass so that there are no residual effects at the time of surgery.
  • do not wear lenses 2 weeks before surgery
  • take a shower beforehand, wash your hair
  • on the day of surgery, do not use deodorant, eau de toilette,
  • do not drink alcohol 48 hours before surgery
  • 3 days before surgery do not use eye cosmetics
  • wear non-woolen clothes (preferably cotton)
  • take sunglasses with you

DAY OF OPERATION

Was I scared? Of course yes! I was tormented by “vague doubts” whether it was in vain that I agreed to all this. Vision is no joke.

While waiting for the preparatory events, I was sitting in the corridor and saw a guest book on the table. I managed to read it all, there were quite a lot of reviews. After reading it, I felt much calmer: I received so much positive emotions from these reviews! So many happy people described their delight at what they had purchased excellent vision that my last doubts disappeared and I became more confident in the correctness of my decision.

There were 6 of us (patients). We were previously examined by a doctor; on the day of the operation everyone should be healthy, without residual signs of illness, so as not to cough or sneeze during the operation.)))

After the examination, everyone was taken to the preoperative ward. They gave us a set of disposable clothing: a robe, shoe covers, and a cap. They told us to turn off our phones because... they may adversely affect laser performance.

Ophthalmology

Are there any injections to help you relax?

No injections or pricks during surgery. During the examination, the doctor talks with the patient, he tells him about all stages of the operation in order to psychologically prepare the patient. Therefore, patients are already fully aware of what will happen and how. They are already calm and confident that there will be no painful sensations there won’t be any, there won’t be any injections, nothing terrible will happen.

Will it be hot or cold?

It won't be hot or cold. We do not influence cold or hot objects. The patient lies down on the operating table, we treat the eye, create a flap, either using a microkeratome or using a femtosecond laser.

We treat the eye - is it just disinfecting the surrounding area? Or are you taking pain relief?

We disinfect, rinse, pain relief initially occurs, we instill anesthetic drops, the patient does not feel any discomfort.

For example, if you didn’t bury them, would they still be there?

If they are not instilled, even the operating table will not save you, because the patient will run away. The cornea has a lot of nerve fibers and is very well innervated. Even when a speck gets into our eye, it hurts quite a lot. Not to mention any manipulation.

What about lidocaine drops? Or some such substance?

No, there is another substance, a special anesthetic.

Reliable?

Ophthalmological, which allows the patient to comfortably endure all stages of the operation and not experience any problems.

Do your eyes move at the same time?

The eyes do not move.

So they freeze, or do you have to control it yourself?

There is no eye movement because we ask you to look at certain objects that are specifically included in the laser. That is, the patient looks at certain points. It's quite easy because you only need to look at them for a short time. The entire operation takes approximately 10 minutes per eye. That is, the patient operates on 2 eyes on average for 20-30 minutes.

Look at one point for 10 minutes!

No, the time when you need to look at 1 point comes down to seconds. That is, it is up to 30-40 seconds. The rest of the time he just looks in that direction. Even if he slightly averts his eyes, it’s okay, because at this time we are performing those manipulations that do not affect accuracy or quality. The patient should not be afraid of this. Everything is quite easy to carry. Children whom we operate according to indications also tolerate this operation calmly. They don't require general anesthesia because it's really painless procedure, which does not give any acute undesirable moments. So, we put the patient on the table, treated the eyes, put in a blepharostat - this is the thing that keeps the eyes open so that he cannot blink for centuries. Eyelid speculum. We rinse the eye, add additional anesthetics, then create a flap using either a microkeratome or a femtosecond laser, then blot the eye from tears.
