Make your own sunglasses. DIY sunglasses decor

Greetings, reader!
I present to your attention a review of the universal sun-protection lining for glasses.

The life of a near-sighted person in Siberia is full of insidious surprises and surprises.
It's summer outside, so let's look at summer tricks.

Basically the problem is the same...

Often, while driving, neither the sun visor nor ... the sun visor saves. Having asked about the cost of sunglasses with diopters in optics, I was a little depressed.

The price tag was very high.
Of course, as an option, you can wear ordinary, sunglasses (as I sometimes do) coupled with lenses. But, it is not always convenient and affordable. Besides, I don't really like lenses, to be honest.

So I drew attention to such an overlay on ordinary glasses. I remember once, in the early nineties, my father had similar ones. I ordered a couple, classic and aviators. The classics arrived faster, and I will write about it. The parcel went for almost a month. Ordered 06/10/15, received in Barnaul 07/09/15

The needle is in the egg, the egg is in the duck, the duck is in the hare, the HARE is SHOCKED!
In a pimply bag, a plastic bag, in which there is a case, in which the subject.
The yellow pimply bag is of no interest to anyone. He was almost instantly swallowed up by the urn. A plastic bag is also not a subject of delight.
The cover for the subject looks like this.

And here is the overlay itself, I will call it, for convenience, device

In this device, the mounting device has a slightly monstrous appearance, towering above the bridge of the nose.
But
We do not pursue style, functionality is important to us

This is what my glasses look like

Let's try the device on glasses o_o

Here you can see that part of the lens is not blocked from below. But, this is an insignificant point.

I need your clothes and motorcycle

If you need to improve the view, for example in a dark room, it is not necessary to remove the device from the glasses. You can, for example, bend them at an angle of 90 degrees, like a visor. The view is funny…

... or even bend 180 degrees

For what? Yes, the goblin knows him, probably there is no need, but there is such a possibility!

The device passed the simplest polarization test. When looking through it at the screen of a smartphone, the colors are distorted, when the device is rotated 90 degrees, the picture on the smartphone fades tightly.

The device was purchased at the most affordable price, "for trial". In general, everything suits. The “aviators” traveling to me have much more aesthetic fasteners and do not stick out so high.

Thank you for your attention!

PS: Dear readers. Thanks for the tips and warnings, but...
As I mentioned above, I have contact lenses (for different occasions). I have normal sunglasses.
I don't suffer and I don't suffer. Buying this device is a conscious choice based on a combination of factors that are more or less present in my life.
I do not intend to do laser vision correction, for a number of reasons that are of no interest to anyone but me.
The only polarization test so far available, I performed in front of the monitor, the overlay showed the same effect as ordinary sunglasses. As for UV400, I can’t tell you exactly, enlighten me, how to check? I will be grateful.
The price for spectacle lenses with a dimming effect, or just dark ones, coupled with all their parameters (astigmatism and other differences) has made them unaffordable for me yet. I have good lenses in everyday glasses, that's enough.
The device does not create additional load on the bridge of the nose. He is almost weightless.
The second ordered device has much more modest mounting hardware and a larger size that covers the entire lens of ordinary glasses. If I like it more, I will order more yellow ones, for evening and night driving. Gov Woe-xenon, headlights not configured according to the regulations and agro-tuning of fogs / DRLs shining in all directions are sometimes very annoying when driving in the dark.

I took care of protecting my eyes from the harsh high-mountain ultraviolet in the Himalayas back in the spring. The problem is that I wear prescription glasses all the time. I had to read a bunch of thematic forums before I finally decided on a choice. And there was plenty to choose from. I tried to collect all the options for protecting the eyes from the sun for bespectacled people.

1. Contact lenses and regular sunglasses

Pros:

  • You feel more comfortable with lenses than with glasses. And you can buy any UV400 glasses, even the most inexpensive ones (500-700 rubles). You can buy a set of ephemera for 1500 rubles and not suffer with liquid. Put it on in the morning, throw it out in the evening. 30 pieces is enough for a month.

Minuses:

  • If you have never worn lenses before (like me), then they can become a bit of a problem.

  • Eyes in lenses dry, especially at high altitudes - you need to have eye drops with you.

  • The liquid in which the lenses are located can freeze at sub-zero temperatures and therefore they must always be kept close to the body.

2. Your goggles and ski mask over

Pros:

Minuses:

  • It is not so easy to choose a special mask for bespectacled people.

  • In any case, the mask will touch the glasses and cause inconvenience, pulling them out of the right place on the nose.

  • Goggles under the mask may start to sweat.

True, there is another option with diopter inserts in the mask, and it seems to me quite successful.

3. Your glasses and regular sunglasses over

Pros:

  • As you were in your favorite glasses, so you remain in them.

Minuses:

  • The pyramid of glasses on the nose is still a pleasure.

  • In any case, sunglasses will not fit snugly to the face and there is a risk of “lighting up” the eyes with side rays and rays reflected from the snow.

4. Ordinary sunglasses with built-in custom-made diopter lenses with UV coating or photochromes ("chameleon").

Pros:

  • It would be the coolest option, if not for the minus.

Minuses:

  • He is one and the most important - the complexity of manufacturing special sports lenses.

Few people undertake to make them. To understand the problem, consider the position of the lenses in ordinary and sports glasses.

Fig.1. Ordinary glasses.

Fig.2. Sports glasses.

On fig. 1 shows that in conventional glasses the line of sight and the optical axis of the lenses pass through the center of the lenses and are perpendicular to the surfaces forming the lens. In the case of sports glasses (Fig. 2), the lens surfaces are inclined at a certain angle, depending on the angle of curvature of the frame, while the optical axis and the line of sight do not coincide. The angle of curvature of a sports frame can reach 25 degrees, while for medical frames the standard value is 4 degrees. The greater the angle of curvature of the sports frame, the greater the turn of the lenses relative to the eyes occurs in glasses and the greater the curvature of the lenses will be required for their correct installation in the frame.

If you insert ordinary lenses into a sports frame, then you will not be able to stay in such glasses for a long time - there will be a feeling that you cannot put your eyes together in any way. In general, not a single optician in Ulyanovsk undertook to make such glasses for me.

5. "Straight" sunglasses with leather shutters

A cool option that is actively discussed on the forums. Reference: numerous models of the company Julbo.

There is only one minus: the price. For the glasses themselves without diopters, you will pay from 6,000 rubles, plus about 4,000 rubles more for inserting lenses with diopters. But, if you plan to use them more than once, this is a worthy option.

6. Welding glasses

The forums often discuss the option of inexpensive welding glasses with inserted photochromic diopter lenses.

Pros:

  • Tightly run around the face, closing the eyes from the rays of any direction.

  • Ventilated to prevent fogging

I decided to try this option. I bought plastic glasses with dark green lenses for 600 rubles, gave them to an optician, and there they inserted round plastic photochromic lenses with maximum UV protection (80% of rays delay) for 4,000 rubles. Such a high price is due to the fact that these are the minimum thickness of the glass with my diopters. Thicker glasses simply would not fit into the glasses' sockets and the fixing black cover would not "catch" the thread.

The disadvantages of this option surfaced when receiving points. Due to the flexible bridge, the glasses were bent and caught the effect that I described in paragraph 4. It was impossible to look at the world for a long time in such glasses. I had to be smart to minimize the angle of curvature of the frame by placing a piece of foam rubber where they are adjacent to the temples. Now it seems to be bearable. Let's see.

7. Clip-on glasses

Almost a week before this post, I learned about "clip-ons" - special overlays for ordinary glasses. The clip-on is attached to the glasses with a clip and allows the dark lenses to flip up if necessary.

Pros:

  • Ease of use and versatility

  • Low price (500 rubles)

Minuses:

  • Glasses still do not protect from side rays.

I ordered clip-ons so that I would have an option for the hot climate of the tropics of Nepal. It would be unreasonable to start the route in welding goggles in 30-degree heat. Besides, I don't scare a lot of people on the track with my appearance in them.

These clip-ons have a polarizing effect and I will be happy to use them in everyday life. For example, driving a car.

Sunglasses are not only a stylish accessory, but also an important wardrobe item that will save your eyes from UV rays. What qualities should such glasses have?

The first thing you need to pay attention to when buying is protection from UVA (waves 320-400 nm long) and UVB (waves 290-320 nm long). This information must be indicated on the glasses label. Two options are allowed: "UVA and UVB Protection" or "UVA 400 Protection".

Do not buy glasses in unverified places. There sellers will not be able to guarantee you the protection. But do not rush to overpay for glasses to popular brands: even the most budgetary accessories have UVA and UVB protection.

Lens color matters a lot. Shading must be at least 75%. It is best to choose yellow and orange lenses. Blue and purple are a dubious option. According to ophthalmologists, lenses of this color provide less protection. But it is worth noting that the fluctuations in the indicators are not so great. Therefore, if you categorically do not like glass of warm sunny shades, feel free to take a different color.

By the way, if you wear contact lenses, we can please you: most of them already include UVA and UVB filters.

Here are some more tips to help you choose your glasses.

  • For driving, purchase glasses with plastic glasses. In the event of an accident, they are less traumatic.
  • Photochromic accessories are a great option for those who wear corrective glasses all the time. The lenses darken when sunlight hits them. Therefore, indoors you have regular glasses, and in the sun - sunglasses.
  • Buy a special cloth for cleaning glass - you should not use the edge of a T-shirt for this.

Glasses are not only the main summer accessory, they protect our eyes from harmful radiation, reduce fatigue and harmoniously complement the image. If, of course, you choose them correctly.

website I decided to figure out how to choose glasses specifically for your face shape and how to distinguish good lenses from bad ones. And at the end there is a bonus for you.

How to determine your face type

Take a washable marker, lipstick, soap or pencil. Stand in front of a mirror at arm's length. Without deviating, outline the contour of the face, starting from the chin and ending with the hairline. Take a step back and look at the resulting shape.

The task is to visually lengthen the face, so choose dark-colored frames. They narrow the face and bring it closer to the oval. To balance the proportions of your face, choose frames that are wider than they are tall.

Suitable for round face shape:

  • Pointed, rectangular, square glasses.
  • "Cat" frames.
  • Butterfly glasses.
  • Glasses with a narrow bridge.
  • "Aviators".
  • "Waifarers".

Not suitable for round face shape:

  • Round glasses.
  • Narrow frames.
  • Points with sharply defined corners.
  • Glasses in the form of geometric shapes.
  • Color contact lenses.
  • Glasses that cover the eyebrows.

The main task is not to violate the harmonious proportions of the face, so avoid too massive glasses. It is better if the width of the frame is equal to the width of the face or slightly wider. Make sure that the top of the frame matches the line of the eyebrows.

Suitable for oval face shape:

  • Frames of smooth shape: rectangular, oval, round.
  • Butterfly glasses
  • "Aviators".
  • "Cat" frames.

Not suitable for oval face shape:

  • Frames with sharp corners.
  • Too massive frames.
  • Too wide frames.
  • Narrow frames.

Rectangular or square sharp shapes will overload the face. Rounded frames will help visually balance and soften the proportions of the face.

Suitable for square face shape:

  • Big glasses.
  • Glasses with a frame that is as wide as the face.
  • Glasses with colored frames.
  • Oval, round, drop-shaped frames.
  • Rimless glasses.
  • "Cat" frames.
  • "Aviators".

Not suitable for square face shape:

  • Square frames with sharp corners.
  • Small, narrow and petite.
  • Glasses with frames wider than the face.

It should visually expand the face. Choose large, massive glasses. Transparent glasses - with a thin frame to match the skin tone.

Suitable for rectangular face shape:

  • Large frames.
  • "Aviators" (with a large frame).
  • Round frames.

Not suitable for rectangular face shape:

  • Narrow frames.
  • Small frames.
  • Bright colored frames.

The task is to balance the upper part of the face, making the lower part heavier. Massive ones will make the top even heavier, we don’t need this. Choose glasses the width of which is equal to the width of the face, preferably drop-shaped. Aviators are perfect.

Suitable for heart-shaped faces:

  • Rounded, round glasses.
  • Small frames with narrow bridge.
  • Low set temples.
  • "Aviators".
  • "Waifarers".
  • Rimless glasses.
  • Light and neutral color glasses.

Not suitable for a heart-shaped face:

  • Heavy and large frames.
  • Sharp forms.
  • Glasses that cover the eyebrows.
  • Butterfly glasses, drop glasses.
  • "Cat" frames.
  • Frames with vibrant colors.

If you have women's sunglasses that look good but are already tired, then the following tutorial will help you turn them into a fashion accessory! In addition, you can be sure that you will not meet a single “twin” of your glasses on the streets and will be absolutely original and unique. In this article, we will show you how to make a bright decoration of women's sunglasses using polymer clay flowers.

Materials and tools for decorating women's sunglasses

  • Work surface: glass or even ceramic tiles
  • Knife or scalpel
  • jar
  • Candle-pills
  • Rolling metal tube or pasta machine
  • Drop-shaped cutters
  • Liquid glue for plastic, for example, Kosmofen

Decorate glasses with polymer clay flowers

These are the usual glasses I wanted to change. To do this, I suggest decorating them with baked polymer clay flowers.

Take ready-made or mix the desired colors of polymer clay. I took the decor of glasses from fashion designers as a basis, so I tried to withstand the colors they suggested, of course, you can choose other options, for example, suitable for your favorite summer handbag.

Thinly roll out pieces of polymer clay using a pasta machine or by hand. The thinner the clay, the more natural our flowers will look.

We cut out a lot of flower petals with the help of special cutters. You need a large number of petals, which is why it is more convenient to use cutters than to cut them out by hand. In addition, in this way they turn out to be the same in size.

We need petals narrower and wider. We make blanks of all sizes at once.

Let's start making flowers. We will have two types of them, but the beginning is the same for everyone. We take a petal, gently make its edges a little thinner with our fingers and turn it into a tube, as shown in the photo.

We also make three petals of a contrasting color thinner at the edges and wrap the middle tube.

Flatten the tail with your fingers and cut off. All flowers need to be made the same height, then there will be no need to cut or grind after baking, and the finished product will look more neat.

We will bake on a small jar so that the base of the flowers turns out to be slightly curved, because the surface of the glasses is also not flat. We put three small flowers together, carefully place them on a jar, press our finger tightly against the glass so that the flowers stick to it, while trying not to damage the petals.

We give the leaves the desired shape and size using a cutter and blade.

Using a toothpick, decorate the flowers with leaves. Press them as tightly as possible. We need to make four groups of such flowers, three flowers each.

The second type of flowers for decorating glasses is roses, large and small. We start in the same way as with the previous type of flowers. Then add three large petals.

For greater resemblance to a real flower, gently squeeze the middle of the large petals.

Cut off the tail, add a couple of leaves and place on a jar.

For a large rose, after three large petals, add five more. We also carefully pinch the middle.

I decided to make symmetrical compositions, but you can make more colors on one side and less on the other. Imagine and try! I got two large white roses, two large and two small peach, two small beige roses and four groups of beige and lilac flowers.

We send the flowers to the oven to bake according to the instructions for polymer clay. After baking, let cool and remove from the jar.

Now with the help of glue we fix our flowers on the glasses.

You can experiment with the distance between the flowers. I chose something in between - not quite tight, but without large gaps. If you have long hair, do not forget that the ends of the temples will fall under the hair, and then the flowers can get confused and interfere.

So, quite easily and at no extra cost, our summer has become brighter with a new fashion accessory!
