Introduction

Hello dear readers! It is pleasant to realize that my meetings with you on the pages of the books of the I Attract Health series have become a good tradition. Traditional medicine is not only collections of recipes and useful tips, it is the age-old wisdom of the people, or, one might even say, peoples, collected bit by bit. Preserved by many generations, repeatedly subjected to persecution, it has nevertheless come down to us in its almost original form, in order to come to our aid in difficult times.

Our distant ancestors had no one to ask for advice, on their own they had to comprehend this world, fraught with many surprises. Using observation as one of the methods of understanding the environment, people made many important discoveries for themselves. So, observing animals, a person learned to identify medicinal plants. It is now known to everyone that a sick animal is looking for a healing plant, guided by the instinct of self-preservation. In those distant times, the fundamental principles of medicine were laid. It was then that most of the medicinal plants were discovered, which are successfully used to this day.

In this book, I want to tell you about one of these plants - knotweed, or knotweed. In the people it is also called goose grass, goose grass, grass-ant.

The medicinal properties of knotweed are very diverse. It is used as a hemostatic, as an anti-inflammatory, as an appetite enhancer, as a wound healing and as an anti-tuberculosis agent. For many animals and birds, both wild and domestic, knotweed is a nutritious food. Its first stems can be used as greens in the preparation of various dishes.

Knotweed can be used alone or mixed with other medicinal herbs for external and internal use. It is necessary to prepare a healing remedy from knotweed, depending on the purpose: in the form of a decoction, infusion or liquid extract. Now it has become very popular to remember the forgotten properties of herbs and flowers, and knotweed did not stand aside. Get to know him better, maybe he will be able to help you too.

Chapter 1

grass-ant

This grass from the very beginning of spring until late autumn grows on the streets of cities and villages, in forest glades, on the banks of small and large rivers. With the same success, it grows along roads, both carriageways and country roads. The plant is very unpretentious, and its habitat is unlimited. With all the outward tenderness and fragility, the adaptability of the familiar ant is simply unique. It survives in almost any land. On poor clay soils, it becomes almost leafless, like a tangled coil of wire, but does not die. If she got soft, moist soil, then she spreads out in a lush green carpet. The bushes of this grass grow especially strongly along the edges of abandoned fields, here one plant can spread over several square meters. All this happens thanks to a powerful root system, which helps the mountaineer to adapt to any soil.

Plants related to knotweed are widely distributed throughout the world and are very tenacious.

In Russia, the mountaineer is widespread everywhere. You can meet him in Siberia and the Urals, in the middle lane and in the subtropics. It grows equally in both dry and humid climates. It can equally absorb nutrients from the soil surface and from its depth. It can be described in two words: very resilient.

One old legend tells how knotweed one day was going to go to the mountains - to become a hermit, tired of everyone trampling on him. He slowly began to crawl towards the mountain river, but a wise old sorceress came across to him with bunches of magical herbs and roots. She listened to him and said: “In vain, knotweed, you climb here. In the mountains there are only rocks, but winds and frosts - you will completely disappear there. Better go to the people, to the valleys, and there you will avenge yourself. You will interfere with people, germinate everywhere. Knotweed obeyed the witch and returned to the people. But here's the bad luck, it can't interfere with people, no matter how much it grows everywhere. Herds graze on knotweed thickets, diseases are expelled by its grass, and blue paint (the same as indigo) can be made from its roots. And so he got used to slowly knotweed living with people.

Knotweed (Poeygonum aviculare), or knotweed, is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the buckwheat family, with thin, creeping or ascending stems reaching a length of 30 cm. The root of the plant is noticeably thicker than the branches themselves, it is pivotal, almost without lateral processes. Knotweed leaves are small, oblong-lanceolate, 1.5–2 cm long and 0.4 cm wide; they are attached to the stem with short petioles. In the nodes and axils of the leaves, you can see small membranous formations that look like white bells. Knotweed flowers are inconspicuous and very small, they are green-white in color, collected 1-5 in the axils of the leaves. Perianth simple, five-membered, about half incised, cracking at fruits. There are 8 stamens in a flower. The ripened fruit looks like a ribbed black trihedron.

Knotweed begins to bloom in early June and blooms throughout the summer. The fruits finally ripen in August-September.

The chemical composition of the mountaineer is rich and varied. It is considered a natural pantry of vegetable protein (17%), biologically active substances (44%), vegetable fiber (27%), ash compounds (8.9%), simple and complex sugars (2.5%), resin, wax, tannins.

In addition, such useful trace elements as calcium, phosphorus, zinc, and silicon were found in it. Rich in highlander and vitamins. For example, ascorbic acid, i.e. vitamin C, is present in knotweed 3 times more than in lemons, its content reaches 400 mg%, and carotene (provitamin A) - up to 118 mg%. The juice of the plant contains resins and tannins. In addition, naphthoquinone, tocopherol, bioflavonoids, and organic acids were found in all parts of knotweed. For this reason, knotweed enjoys the well-deserved respect of many physicians and nutritionists as a broad-spectrum medicinal plant.

But its useful qualities are not limited to this. Due to the large number of different chemical compounds contained in it, knotweed is no less popular with veterinarians as a fodder and medicinal plant. Hay made from pure knotweed is not inferior in its qualities to legumes - alfalfa, clover, rank. But, as a rule, the grass of the highlander bird is not subject to mass harvesting, but is used in the form of feed additives.

Properties

In many countries of the world, the beneficial properties of the highlander are widely used in pharmacology. Dried grass, along with flowers, is often used to treat many diseases: in Algeria - fever, in Austria - nervous exhaustion and general loss of strength. In the countries of Europe and America, according to the traditions of traditional medicine, with the help of water infusions of the bird mountaineer, they treat high blood pressure, tuberculosis, and stop bleeding. In Chinese medicine, highlander is most often used as an antipyretic. The old Russian "Zelniki" prescribed highlander bird from consumption and bruises. The healers ordered "to soar their feet from the tumor when they trample", hence another name for the herb - trample. And if you think about it and read old books, it turns out that the modest weed has many names, almost every province has its own name. The Penza peasants called it jackdaw buckwheat, because it is close relatives with buckwheat. In Voronezh, the knotweed was called the goose, the chariot is called in the Arkhangelsk places, the chicken-eater is called in Nizhny Novgorod. Among the Stavropol people, it became a developed grass and a pig burkun. In the Tambov region, this herb is known as murukh or samurushka. But still, most often we call the highlander bird knotweed. As you can see, this name comes from the verb “argue”, very quickly - quickly - in the spring it begins to grow, and it also multiplies quickly - each modest bush produces up to 200 seeds per year.

The list of all the medicinal properties of this well-known herb is quite large. Medicines prepared on the basis of the mountaineer have astringent properties, cause contraction of the uterine muscles, increase the rate of blood clotting, have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and diuretic properties, reduce bleeding of mucous membranes, moderately lower blood pressure, accelerate wound healing, increase immunity, increase the excretion of sodium and chlorine from the body, reduce the precipitation and formation of stones from mineral salts in the urinary tract. Crushed fresh grass can be applied to wounds and ulcers, as knotweed has a hemostatic and wound healing effect. Knotweed is one of the medicinal plants of the international market. Researchers believe that its main healing properties are due to the presence of flavonoids and tannins.

It is customary to prescribe a preparation from knotweed for herbal medicine in chronic diseases of the urinary tract, especially if they are accompanied by a violation of mineral metabolism in the initial period of urolithiasis and the period after the removal of stones. Indications for the use of knotweed are also inflammation of the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, liver disease, malaria, uterine and hemorrhoidal bleeding. Externally, it is used for various skin diseases, and, in addition, for the treatment of wounds, ulcers and bruises. Knotweed has been tested and studied by our scientists many years ago as one of the remedies used to treat tuberculosis. Tibetan healers usually use knotweed roots to compile potions and fees. Young stems and leaves are edible. You can use them to make salads with vegetables, eggs and butter, or season them with vegetable soups, as well as fish broths. Dry leaves are stored for the winter for the preparation of seasonings and decoctions.

Sporysh in bioenergy

The bird mountaineer has its own place in bioenergetic healing. It is believed that it belongs to the elements of the earth. According to legend, its esoteric meaning lies in the fact that it helps to remove the damage caused by envious neighbors and prevents it from taking root in the body.

In addition, the mountaineer bird has directly magical, or rather, cleansing properties. Fresh or dried, it can help you fight against negative traits in your character (of course, only if you yourself want it).

To do this, in the evening, on the waning moon, go alone in the field (not just on the street, but in the field, this is important), leisurely pick a few individual blades of bird mountaineer. After that, you need to take the plucked grass in your right hand, squeeze it in your palms. Now you need to bring it to your mouth and whisper softly all those negative qualities that you want to get rid of (for example: irritability, arrogance, anger, intolerance, greed, etc.). Now you need to dig a hole in the ground as deep and wide as your fist and bury the plant there. Nobody should see this. You can use the grass that grows near your house. But not necessarily in the yard, it is even better if the grass grows behind the hedge. This will help you dispel the views and thoughts of ill-wishers and successfully complete what you want.

Contraindications

There are few contraindications for the highlander bird. Due to the large amount of silicic acid, this plant is not recommended for use in severe forms of kidney and bladder diseases.

Chapter 2

We collect, we prepare, we receive

Starting the collection of knotweed, you need to know the plant itself well, be able to distinguish it from related species, know the ecologically clean places where it is most often found.

It is necessary to harvest knotweed only in good, dry weather. You can not put it together with plants of different species. It is impossible to litter the collections with various impurities, earth, sand, etc. It is necessary to collect only those parts of the plant that are indicated as medicinal.

Biologically active substances accumulate in various parts of the plant. Their content varies throughout the life of the plant. It is necessary to know in which parts of the plant and in what period the concentration of these substances is maximum.

It is recommended to collect knotweed at the beginning of flowering. It is cut with a sharp knife without coarse ground parts. It is unacceptable to pull out plants with a root - this leads to a decrease in their natural reserves and, in addition, clogs the raw material.

Immediately before drying, the collected medicinal raw materials are sorted and sorted, removing impurities and damaged parts. Thick roots and rhizomes should be cut into transverse or longitudinal parts. The main task of drying is to remove moisture from plants. The faster the drying is done, the better the raw material will be. Drying of the collected plants is carried out immediately after collection. They cannot be left in bags and baskets even for several hours, and even more so at night, since fresh raw materials laid in a thick layer quickly warm up, and fermentation processes begin in it.

It is not recommended to dry knotweed in the sun, as this destroys a significant part of biologically active substances. For drying, the grass is scattered in a thin layer on a newspaper, linen or plywood. So that the raw material does not overheat, it is turned over several times a day. Drying is done in the shade, under a canopy, or in well-ventilated areas. The finished raw material should be well dried, break with a crunch, but not crumble.

Dried mountaineer requires certain storage conditions. Store medicinal raw materials in a dry, dark and cool place, away from dust and insects. In no case should you mix different types of plants, they should all be stored in separate packaging: paper and cloth bags, boxes, jars.

The shelf life of finished medicinal raw materials is established by the Ministry of Health. Usually it is 1-2 years for flowers and herbs, 3-5 years for bark, roots, tubers.

Before use, the collected knotweed herb is subjected to appropriate processing, a drug is prepared from it, which is convenient for use.

At home, you can use various cooking methods. In this case, the preparation of preparations with the addition of poisonous and potent plants should be avoided. For medicinal purposes, juices, powders, infusions, syrups, decoctions, tinctures and ointments are most often prepared from knotweed.

To prepare juice, fresh knotweed is crushed with a grater, meat grinder, juicer. Alcohol can be added to the resulting juice for longer storage.

The simplest dosage form of knotweed is a powder.

Required: dried leaves and grass of the highlander bird.

Cooking. Grind raw materials in a mortar or coffee grinder.

Application. The powder is used both internally and externally - for powdering ulcers and wounds. In addition, it serves as an initial product for the preparation of tinctures and ointments.

Infusions are prepared from the loose parts of knotweed (young leaves, flowers).

Required: 1 st. l. herbs, knotweed leaves or flowers, 1 glass of water.

Cooking. Place the raw materials in an enamel bowl, pour boiling water, bring to a boil. Boil over low heat for 10-15 minutes, then leave for 2-3 hours, then strain and add boiled water to the original volume. Store in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days.

Application.

Decoctions are prepared from dense parts of knotweed (hard stems and the whole plant).

Required: 1 st. l. knotweed herbs, 1 glass of water.

Cooking. Place the raw materials in an enamel bowl, pour boiling water, bring to a boil. Boil over low heat for 30 minutes, then cool, strain and add water to the desired volume.

Application. Take 1 tbsp. l. 3 times a day.

For external use, infusions and decoctions are prepared from a double or triple dose of medicinal raw materials, i.e., more concentrated.

Syrups are thick, sweet liquids intended for ingestion.

Required: 100 g sugar, 60 ml water, 30 ml alcohol tincture of knotweed.

Cooking. Pour sugar into water. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool down. Strain. Add alcohol tincture of knotweed.

Application. Drink 1 tbsp. l. 2 times a day.

Tinctures - drugs prepared with alcohol with a strength of 70% or 40%.

Required: 100 g chopped herb knotweed, 1/2 liter of alcohol.

Cooking. Pour the raw material with alcohol. Close the container tightly. Insist in a dark cool place for 7-10 days. After that, filter the infusion. The finished infusion should be transparent and have the smell and taste of fresh knotweed. Keep refrigerated.

Application. Add 10 to 30 drops per 50-100 ml of water 2-3 times a day.

Ointments are dosage forms used only for external use. They are made from knotweed powder. Unsalted pork, goose, beef fats, petroleum jelly, vegetable oils are used as the basis for the ointment. You can prepare the ointment as follows.

Required: 1 st. l. mountaineer bird powder, 2 tbsp. l. fat base.

Cooking. Melt the ointment base in a water bath, constantly rubbing it, mix it with the powder of dry knotweed grass, then add the rest of the oil or fat to the required weight.

Application. Lubricate the affected areas of the skin.

For storage of ointments, jars with a wide mouth made of glass, porcelain, or plastic are used, with well-closing lids. Store the ointment in a dark cool place.

It should be emphasized the importance of observing the dosages of herbal preparations, especially in the treatment of children. You can avoid mistakes if you remember the following rule: for each year of a child's life, 1/20 of the adult dose is required. To determine the weight of medicinal plants, it is desirable to have a pharmacy scale.

Chapter 3

Sporish in the treatment of diseases

Arthritis

Arthritis is an inflammatory disease of the joints of various origins, in which articular tissues, bone and cartilage surfaces of the joint are affected.

The causes of arthritis can be infections, trauma, immune and metabolic disorders, tumors, hereditary predisposition, chronic focal infection, or pathological changes in the bone elements of the joint (for example, osteomyelitis, tuberculous osteitis).

The clinical picture consists of such characteristic signs as joint pain (arthralgia), swelling and effusion (accumulation of inflammatory fluid in the joint cavity), increased skin temperature, redness, and impaired function. Soreness on palpation usually extends to the entire surface of the joint, especially along the joint space.

In arthritis, having a subacute or chronic course, various anti-inflammatory drugs, both nonsteroidal and steroidal (hormonal), are widely used. The drugs of the last group are used mainly for local (intra-articular) therapy. When acute inflammatory phenomena subside in the joints, physiotherapeutic procedures (UV radiation, electrophoresis of analgesics, amplipulse therapy, hydrocortisone phonophoresis) are indicated, which help to reduce pain and residual inflammatory reactions, prevent the development of connective tissue and joint dysfunction.

For rubbing in the treatment of arthritis, it is advisable to use an alcohol tincture.

Required: 3 art. l. knotweed herbs, 100 ml of 70% alcohol.

Cooking. Grind the herb, pour it with alcohol, tightly close the lid and insist for 2 weeks in a dark, cool place. Strain.

Application. Rub the inflamed areas 2 times a day.

Required: 2 tbsp. l. knotweed herbs, 2 tbsp. l. lilac flowers, 200 ml of medical alcohol with a strength of 76%.

Cooking. Grind the herbs, pour in alcohol, tightly close the lid and insist for 3-4 weeks. After that, filter the tincture and insist again for 7 days. After the expiration of the prescribed period, filter the tincture again. And only after that it is ready for use.

Application. Drink 2 times a day before meals.

A good effect is given by an alcohol tincture, consisting of knotweed herb, common yarrow and calendula. Attention! An overdose of yarrow can cause dizziness and skin rashes. Follow the dosage carefully.

Required: 3 art. l. dry chopped herb knotweed, 2 tbsp. l. yarrow herb, 1 tbsp. l. calendula flowers, 250 ml of medical alcohol with a strength of 76%.

Cooking. Grass pour alcohol and leave for 2 weeks. Strain.

Application. Rub the painful joints with the finished tincture.

For the treatment of polyarthritis, the ointment of the following composition will help well.

Required: 1 st. l. knotweed herbs, 1 tbsp. l. yarrow herb, 1 tbsp. l. sage leaves, 30 g of vaseline oil or vaseline.

Cooking. Grind the grass to a powder state and mix with vaseline oil until a homogeneous viscous mass is obtained. Store the resulting ointment in a cool dark place.

Application. In case of pain, rub the sore spot.

The anti-inflammatory effect of these drugs, coupled with the analgesic properties of yarrow and the tonic properties of sage officinalis, will have a beneficial effect and a good therapeutic effect in diseases such as rheumatism, polyarthritis and sciatica.

Gastritis

Gastritis is an inflammatory or inflammatory-dystrophic change in the gastric mucosa. It can be primary (acute) and considered as an independent disease and secondary (chronic), accompanying a number of infectious and non-infectious diseases and intoxications.

Acute gastritis develops as a result of an acute intestinal infection (food poisoning, salmonellosis, escherichiosis, etc.); when using products that irritate the gastric mucosa (capsicum, mustard, cinnamon, vinegar, ethyl alcohol and its surrogates), certain drugs (salicylates, atofan, butadione, digitalis preparations, phenacetin, aminophylline, etc.). The cause of the disease can be an allergic reaction to foods, such as eggs, some varieties of fish, strawberries, citrus fruits, milk, or to drugs (antibiotics, protein hydrolysates).

In the clinical picture, the dominant symptoms are sharp cramping pains and a burning sensation in the epigastric region, an unpleasant taste in the mouth, belching, heartburn, nausea, repeated vomiting of acidic contents mixed with mucus and bile, which does not bring relief. Acute gastritis, and especially gastroenteritis of an infectious or allergic nature, occurring with repeated vomiting and diarrhea, may be accompanied by symptoms of dehydration (such as dry mouth, hiccups, increasing general weakness, often convulsive twitching of the muscles of the limbs), fever, impaired function of the heart vascular system. The tongue is dry, lined with white coating, there is a pronounced soreness when palpated in the region of the upper abdomen and navel. Acute gastritis can be complicated by toxic damage to the myocardium, liver and kidneys, and cardiovascular insufficiency.

In acute gastritis, outpatient or inpatient treatment is carried out. It depends on the severity of the patient's condition. The provision of medical care in most cases begins with washing the stomach with boiled water using a thick probe, which is pre-lubricated with vegetable oil. When radioactive substances enter the stomach, along with gastric lavage, adsorbents (activated carbon, white clay) and saline laxatives are prescribed. If it is impossible to insert a probe into the stomach, a probeless lavage is performed: the patient is given a large amount (1–2 l) of water to drink, then vomiting is caused by mechanical irritation of the root of the tongue and soft palate or subcutaneous injection of apomorphine. Gastric lavage is contraindicated in case of a sharp decrease in blood pressure and shock.

For pain, spasmalgon, bellalgin, analgin, anestezin or novocaine solution are prescribed orally, with a pronounced pain syndrome - atropine, fentanyl, droperidol, baralgin intramuscularly, in severe cases drugs are used.

Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum

This is a chronic relapsing disease in which, as a result of disorders of the nervous and humoral mechanisms that regulate the processes of digestion, an ulcer forms in the stomach or duodenum (less often 2 or more ulcers).

Negative emotions, prolonged mental stress, pathological impulses from the affected internal organs in chronic cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, and others are often the cause of the development of peptic ulcer. Among other factors, the violation of the production of digestive juices and enzymes is important. A certain role is played by hereditary constitutional factors (hereditary predisposition occurs among patients with peptic ulcer in 15-40% of cases).

The direct formation of an ulcer occurs as a result of a violation of the physiological balance between aggressive (this is active gastric juice, bile reflux) and protective factors (this is gastric and duodenal mucus, cellular regeneration, the normal state of local blood flow, the protective effect of certain hormones, as well as the alkaline reaction of saliva and pancreatic juice). In the formation of ulcers in the stomach, the decrease in the barrier function of the mucous membrane, the weakening of its resistance to the damaging effects of acidic gastric juice, are of the greatest importance. In the mechanism of the development of ulcers in the outlet section of the stomach and especially in the duodenum, on the contrary, the decisive factor is the increased aggressiveness of the acid factor.

Predisposing factors are eating disorders, abuse of spicy, rough, irritating food, constantly fast, hasty food, drinking strong alcoholic drinks and their surrogates, smoking.

Characterized by pain, heartburn, often vomiting of acidic gastric contents shortly after eating at the height of pain. During the period of exacerbation, the pain is daily, occurs on an empty stomach, after eating it temporarily decreases or disappears and reappears (with a stomach ulcer after 1/2 - 1 hour, duodenal ulcer - 1.5-2.5 hours). Frequent night pain. Pain is relieved by antacids, anticholinergics, thermal procedures on the epigastric region. Often peptic ulcer of the duodenum is accompanied by constipation.

The features of peptic ulcer are the nature of pain (hungry, after eating after a certain period of time, nighttime), a long course of the disease with periodic exacerbations in the spring and autumn periods, the presence of hydrochloric acid in gastric juice during the study.

For the treatment of diseases of the stomach, infusions, decoctions and extracts (both water and alcohol) from knotweed, as well as various fees, which include knotweed, are used.

Required: 2 tbsp. l. knotweed herbs, 2 tbsp. l. plantain leaves, 2 tbsp. l. cudweed herbs, 2 tbsp. l. centaury herbs, 1 tbsp. l. mint leaf, 1 tbsp. l. calamus rhizomes, 2 tbsp. l. cumin fruits, 2 tsp. yarrow herbs, 250 ml of water.

Cooking. 1 st. l. brew the chopped collection with boiling water, cover with a lid and leave for 12 hours, then strain the infusion.

Application. Drink 1/2 cup 4 times a day 1 hour after meals for gastritis with high acidity.

For the treatment of peptic ulcer, a decoction of knotweed inflorescences is suitable for you.

Required: 1 st. l. dry chopped herb knotweed, 200 ml of water.

Cooking. Pour boiling water over the grass, cover with a lid and leave for 15 minutes. Then strain.

Application. Drink 1/4 cup 3 times a day 20 minutes before meals.

Haemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids - an increase and ulceration of the glomerular vessels of the rectum, accompanied by bleeding, and sometimes their thrombosis and inflammation.

The disease is based on violations of the regulation of inflow and outflow of blood in the cavernous veins of the rectum, leading to stagnation of blood in them. This is facilitated by a sedentary lifestyle, constipation and inflammatory or tumor processes in the rectum and other organs of the small pelvis. Prolonged overflow of the cavernous bodies causes expansion, thinning of their walls and integumentary tissues, which are easily injured with the formation of small erosions and ruptures. As a result, bleeding occurs during the act of defecation or hygienic treatment of the anus. In addition, the formation of erosions and cracks in the integumentary tissues creates conditions for their infection and the development of inflammatory processes against the background of thrombosis of hemorrhoids (acute hemorrhoids).

With uncomplicated hemorrhoids, itching, a sensation of a foreign body, the release of drops or trickles of scarlet blood at the end of the act of defecation occur, anemia may develop. With complications, severe pain appears, the temperature rises, swelling and hyperemia occur around the anus, difficulty in defecation, and sometimes urinary retention. The course is often long with periodic exacerbations and complications up to severe anemia and purulent inflammation, with thrombosis and necrosis of hemorrhoids.

Knotweed, as we have said, is considered a cure for many diseases, including hemorrhoids. It is known that knotweed has an effective wound healing and hemostatic effect, and also serves as a sedative. Before you self-medicate, it is recommended to consult a doctor to make sure that this or that remedy is really suitable for you. Knotweed extract baths are the most common treatment for hemorrhoids.

Before taking a steam bath, you should cleanse your intestines with a regular enema. Then warm the anus area with steam.

Required: 5 st. l. knotweed herbs, 1/2 liter of boiling water.

Cooking. Grass pour boiling water and cook over low heat for 30 minutes.

Then strain.

Application. Pour boiling water into a small bowl and add 2 cups of knotweed broth. The duration of the procedure is 10-20 minutes.

Required: 2 tbsp. l. knotweed herbs, 1 liter of boiling water.

Cooking. Sporish pour boiling water, cover, and leave for 3 hours in a cool dark place. After that, strain the infusion.

As soon as the decoction for the steam bath is ready, it is necessary to cover the basin with some kind of lid, in which a small hole will be made to let the steam out.

Application. Sit over the steam for 30 minutes. This procedure must be systematically repeated, then the effect of the use of such a tool will be more pronounced and appear faster.

A pair of knotweed will help with its antiseptic and wound healing, as well as hemostatic effect, improve metabolism, and this will lead to an improvement in the defecation process.

Required: 300 g of alum, 2-3 cups of knotweed infusion, 3 liters of water.

Cooking. Pour alum with boiling water and add knotweed infusion there.

Application. Take a steam bath in the same way as described in the previous method. After performing the procedure, it is necessary to lubricate the anus with vegetable oil and take a laxative. This procedure should be done no more than 1 time per week.

Required: 2 liters of milk, 1/2 onion, 2 tbsp. l. knotweed herbs.

Cooking. In a small bowl, you need to pour milk boiled with onions and knotweed, close the liquid with a wooden lid with a hole.

Application. Sit over the basin for 20-30 minutes. This method of treatment is good for internal hemorrhoids.

Required: 3 liters of boiling water, 3 cups of knotweed decoction.

Cooking. Mix boiling water with broth and pour into a basin. Cool down to 36–38 °C.

Application. Take a sitz bath for 10-15 minutes. These manipulations should be done 2 times a day. It is also recommended to add a few drops of potassium permanganate to the water.

For the successful treatment of hemorrhoids, it is also recommended to use cleansing enemas with the addition of drugs. Enema will serve as a good prophylactic in the fight against this disease. To begin with, you should prepare a decoction based on blueberries and knotweed grass.

Required: 1 st. l. chopped herb knotweed, 1 tbsp. l. blueberries, 400 ml of water.

Cooking. Pour knotweed and blueberries with cold water and boil for 2 hours. Then cool the broth and strain, pour it into the enema container.

Application. The tip of the enema is best lubricated with vegetable oil or petroleum jelly so as not to injure the anus. This procedure is recommended to be carried out before going to bed for 2 weeks. This remedy is very effective in hemorrhoidal bleeding.

Treatment with infusions and decoctions used internally is also widely used. The method of their preparation is very simple, but one should not forget to adhere to the indicated proportions, and their failure to comply can lead to an undesirable result.

Required: 1 st. l. chopped herb knotweed, 2 cups of water.

Cooking. Grass pour boiling water. Then boil the liquid for 15-20 minutes over low heat, strain.

Application. Take orally 1 tbsp. l. 3 times a day before meals.

Required: 1 st. l. chopped knotweed grass, 2 tsp. aspen buds, 3 cups of water.

Cooking. Knotweed and aspen buds pour boiling water, cover and leave for 1 hour. Then strain.

Application. Take 1 tbsp. l. 6 times a day for a week.

An excellent therapeutic effect has a combination of nettle leaves and knotweed grass. This infusion is an excellent wound healing and antiseptic agent, which is very effective for treating small wounds of the rectum, which subsequently lead to the formation of hemorrhoids.

Required: 2 tbsp. l. nettle and knotweed herbs, 1 liter of water.

Cooking. Pour boiling water over the herb, cover with a lid and insist for 2 hours. After this time, strain the infusion.

Application. Drink 1/4 cup 3 times a day before meals.

Nettle without the advice of a doctor is not recommended. Preparations from this plant can harm people with increased blood clotting, patients with hypertension and atherosclerosis. Nettle should not be used for bleeding caused by cysts, polyps and other tumors of the uterus and its appendages.

Required: 1 st. l. knotweed herbs and crushed buckthorn bark, 1 tsp. nettle leaves, 800 ml of water.

Cooking. Pour boiling water over herbs and bark, cover and leave for 10 minutes. After that, strain the broth.

Application. Take 1 glass 3 times a day before meals.

Required: 1 st. l. knotweed herbs, 2 tbsp. l. crushed viburnum bark, 3 cups of water.

Cooking. Pour knotweed and bark with cold water and boil over low heat for 30-40 minutes. Then strain the broth.

Application. Drink 1 tbsp. l. 3 times a day before meals.

Due to the high content of purines, viburnum fruits can damage gout and kidney disease.

Required: 1 st. l. chopped grass knotweed and yarrow, 2 cups of water.

Cooking. Grind the herbs, pour boiling water, cover and leave for 1 hour. After the allotted time, strain the infusion.

Application. Take an infusion of 1 tbsp. l. 3 times a day before meals. It will serve as an excellent hemostatic agent in the initial stages of hemorrhoids.

Required: 2 tsp chopped herb knotweed, 1 tsp. crushed dandelion root, 250 ml of water.

Cooking. Knotweed and dandelion root pour boiling water, cover and leave for 30 minutes. After that, strain the infusion.

Acute hepatitis can occur as a result of radiation (radiation) damage, with extensive burns of the body, severe infectious diseases, and toxicosis of pregnant women. Alcohol use often predisposes to the development of acute hepatitis.

In mild cases, acute hepatitis is almost asymptomatic, being detected only during an accidental or targeted examination (for example, at work among people in contact with hepatotropic poisons, with household group mushroom poisoning, etc.). In more severe cases (for example, with toxic hepatitis), the clinical symptoms of the disease develop rapidly, often in combination with signs of general intoxication and toxic damage to other organs and systems. At the height of the disease, icteric staining of the skin and mucous membranes, whitish-clay-colored stools, rich dark color (“beer-colored”) urine, and small punctate hemorrhages on the skin are characteristic. The color of the skin is orange or saffron. However, in mild cases, jaundice is visible only in daylight, icteric staining of the sclera and mucous membrane of the soft palate appears earlier. Frequent nosebleeds, petechiae; patients are concerned about pruritus. How and when to harvest knotweed

Knotweed is harvested during flowering, which begins in June and lasts until autumn.

Knotweed is an annual plant with a branched recumbent (or ascending) stem that grows well to the sides. Leaves and stems are used for drying.

Knotweed is harvested in clear, dry weather, when the dew is completely dry on the plants. It is impossible to harvest knotweed in the fields where cattle are grazed, as well as near highways and garbage dumps.

The upper part of the plants is cut off with knives or mowed with sickles, and then transferred to a place of constant drying. By the way, the grass grows well after mowing, and therefore more than one crop can be harvested in one season. With extensive thickets, the grass is mowed with a scythe, and then a sample of other plants that have fallen into the collection is carried out.

How to dry knotweed

Harvested raw materials must be dried in the shade or in attics, laying out a thin layer on decking or on clean paper.

The drying area must be well ventilated. The raw material must be stirred frequently so that it dries evenly and does not rot.

High-quality raw materials should consist of gray-green stems no more than 30 cm long with light leaves and small, slightly colored flowers. The raw material should not contain browned, heavily crushed leaves, as well as the roots of the plant.

The smell of dried knotweed is weak. The taste is slightly astringent, slightly tart.

Store dried knotweed in paper bags, canvas bags in a dry, dark, cool place. Shelf life is about three years.

Knotweed has another common name - highlander bird. But when harvesting, this plant should not be confused with the knotweed, the peppery knotweed and the snake knotweed.

Distinctive features of other plant species knotweed from knotweed

Highlander serpentine (serpentine) is a perennial plant with a thick tall stem (up to a meter high). The roots are used for medicinal purposes. It grows in floodplains of rivers, along the banks of lakes, in wet meadows.

Knotweed (kidney grass) is an annual plant with a straight stem up to 80 cm high and with leaves up to 10 cm long. It grows in moist soils in the coastal zone.

Highlander pepper (water pepper) is an annual plant with a standing branched stem and leaves up to 8 cm long. It grows along the banks of lakes, rivers and ditches.

Culinary uses of knotweed

Knotweed has not only medicinal qualities, but is also used in cooking.

For the preparation of salads and soups, young shoots and knotweed leaves are suitable, which are harvested before flowering.

Knotweed salad. Rinse and chop 50 grams of knotweed leaves. Add the same amount of chopped green onions, one egg, green dill to taste. Salt, season with sour cream and mix.

Seeds of highlander bird, knotweed, TM OGOROD - 10 grams (6500 seeds)

An annual herbaceous plant 10-80 cm high, which propagates every year by self-sowing, a polymorphic species of the genus Highlander, a group of similar and difficult to distinguish species is united under a common name.

Popular names: knotweed, bird buckwheat, goose grass, grass-ant.

Medicinal plant, fodder (for poultry). Young leaves can be eaten in salads, soups, mashed leaves. In Dagestan, they are used for filling pies.

On well-fertilized soil, it grows violently, forming a continuous carpet (popularly called "grass-ant"), suppressing other plants. Dyes are obtained from the grass (blue from the roots). The Russian name "Sporysh" was given to the plant for its ability to quickly restore damaged shoots. In East Slavic mythology, knotweed is a symbol of fertility. Stem up to 60 cm long, strongly branched, erect, recumbent from the base, rarely ascending or prostrate. The nodes are strongly pronounced. After flowering, the stems become hard. The root is thicker than the branches, taproot, slightly branched. The leaves are small, alternate, elliptical or linear-lanceolate, 1.5-5 cm long and 0.4-1.5 cm wide with short petioles, entire, always without punctate glands, grayish green. Small whitish membranous bilobed bells 7-13 mm long are noticeable in the nodes. The flowers are small, with pale green, pink or white lobes along the edges. Bunches of 2-5 flowers are located in the axils of the leaves, the plates of which are much longer than the flowers. The perianth tube is equal to its lobes. Perianth simple, five-membered, about half incised, cracking in fruits, white or green with pink edges. Stamens 8, pistils 3. It blooms from April until almost the end of autumn, most intensively in July - August. The fruit is an almost black or brown trihedral opaque nutlet, almost equal in length to the perianth. The fruits ripen in July - September. It grows in trampled fields, wastelands, river banks, in yards, on paths, along roads, pastures, permanent dry pastures, on ramparts, near dwellings, etc. It is tolerant of trampling. It is very unpretentious, settles on any substrate, due to which it is distributed on all continents, it is not found only in the Arctic and Antarctica. In Russia and Ukraine it is found everywhere.

The chemical composition of knotweed.

Knotweed herb contains the flavonoid avicularin and quercetin, ascorbic acid - up to 0.9% by dry weight, vitamins: K, E, carotene, silicic acid and many of its soluble compounds, resins, bitterness, mucus, fats, carbohydrates, tannins - 0.35% and traces of essential oil.
Significance and use A good fodder plant, especially for poultry. Until the middle of the 20th century, the aerial part was used to make dye for fabrics and leather.

Pharmacological properties of knotweed.

Plant preparations have astringent properties, cause uterine contractions, increase the rate of blood clotting, have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and diuretic properties, reduce bleeding of mucous membranes, moderately lower blood pressure, accelerate wound healing, increase immunity, increase the excretion of sodium and chlorine from the body, reduce the crystallization of mineral salts in the urinary tract. In the treatment of knotweed in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, appetite improves and body weight increases.

Apply inside:

with chronic diseases of the urinary tract, especially with a concomitant violation of mineral metabolism with inflammation of the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the initial period of urolithiasis, as well as after removal of stones in liver diseases in the complex treatment of tuberculosis, malaria, with uterine and hemorrhoidal bleeding.

Externally for various skin diseases, as well as for the treatment of wounds, ulcers and bruises.

Knotweed preparation.

Medicinal raw material is the herb mountaineer bird (lat. Herba Polygoni avicularis). It is harvested in dry weather during the flowering period almost all summer, cut to a length of 40 cm. The plant should not be harvested in heavily polluted places and in grazing areas. Grass is separated from impurities and placed in bags. Dry in a ventilated room, in an attic with good ventilation, in the open air, in the shade or in a dryer at a temperature of 50-60 ° C, turning 2-3 times. The raw material is considered dry when the stems become brittle. Store in cloth or paper bags for 3 years.

The use of knotweed.

Knotweed infusion:

brew 1 cup of herbs with one liter of boiling water, insist, wrapped for 2 hours, strain. Store in a cool place for no more than two days. Assign a quarter cup 2-3 times a day before meals. Highlander bird is widely used in various medicinal collections mixed with other plants. For wounds, lotions from the steam of a fresh knotweed plant are used (soothes pain and promotes the development of granulations).
Contraindications Due to the high content of silicic acid, the plant is not recommended for acute diseases of the kidneys and bladder.

In the Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language by V. I. Dahl, the following definitions are given:

knotweed, sparrow-tongues, ants, coolant, kilnik, gryzhnik, fringed grass, brylen, chechina, frog, mustard, woman mustard, dog pepper, wild mustard, female hemorrhoid, swine pig, goose grass, goose, trample (grows where they trample ), pork burkun, cordial, black grass, makarshina, wine root, mountaineer, turtle dove, gourd, cinquefoil, snake, pistil, serpentine, already, dodder, birch, povitel, bitter male, frog, kidney, flea, kidney, male grass gemoroidal, sour, Bashkir cabbage, buckwheat, buckwheat, wild grouse.
Knotweed cultivation.

Like all annuals, knotweed reproduces by seeds. You can prepare them in August-September, when the knotweed on the paths turns yellow, and then turns red. At this time, flocks of sparrows constantly sit on it, pecking at its seeds. It immediately becomes clear why knotweed is called bird buckwheat. Knotweed bushes need to be pulled out, dried on a newspaper and the seeds threshed. They really look like unpeeled seeds, sometimes found in buckwheat, but many times smaller. They are sown immediately after collection, since knotweed requires a long, about five months, stratification. A site for growing knotweed is chosen in a bright place; it does not require fertilizers. Sow in furrows without embedding seeds in the soil. The distance between the rows is 25-30 cm. Knotweed sprouts very late, so you need to try to remove all perennial weeds in advance. So that until June, when knotweed shoots appear, weeds do not grow in the garden, you need to mark each row with 4-5 pegs for the winter, and immediately after the snow melts, very rarely sow a lighthouse plant (mustard, lettuce, radish) in the same row.

It is quite possible to designate a row with several bulbs of an ordinary onion. In addition to weeding, knotweed does not require any care.

100 grams (1 sachet) is enough for sowing 10 - 15 m2.
