Nutrition when recovering from binge drinking. How to quit binge drinking without a doctor: quick help at home

With prolonged abuse of alcoholic beverages, acute alcohol intoxication occurs, which is dangerous to human health and life. Therefore, it is important to know how to get out of binge drinking at home, give up alcohol for a long time, recover, and regain the joy of sober life. Withdrawal syndrome is not only a physiological problem, but also a psychological one, so treatment must be comprehensive, affecting all areas of an alcoholic’s life.

What is binge drinking

Prolonged intake of increased doses of ethanol into the body is considered a drunken state. Without motivation, the help of a doctor and the sincere desire of an alcoholic to quit drinking, it is difficult to effectively treat and can become chronic. There are four stages of alcoholism, and binge drinking is more typical for stages 3–4 of the disease. To remove the remnants of ethyl alcohol from the systemic bloodstream after drinking, you need to consult a narcologist, recognize the problem and begin intensive therapy.

The difference between withdrawal symptoms and hangovers

After a noisy feast, you should not consider yourself a binge alcoholic if you have a severe headache the next morning. This is a clear sign of a hangover, which is temporary and can be successfully treated with internal administration of analgesics and antispasmodics. As for withdrawal syndrome, there is a certain difference: the pathological condition consists of internal discomfort, painful and depressed sensations in the absence of a new dose of alcohol. A person turns into an addicted drug addict who can no longer imagine his life without alcohol.

If withdrawal symptoms appear after just one drinking session, we are talking about a serious internal disease that gradually progresses. The person does not realize this, but the immediate environment must clearly notice and take all necessary measures. When, after the first drink, withdrawal symptoms form and a person enters a dangerous state of binge drinking, the problem becomes widespread. In such a clinical picture, it is clearly impossible to do without additional treatment with official and alternative methods, but you can act only on the recommendation of a specialist.

Is it possible to quit binge drinking on your own?

In painful conditions after drinking alcohol, a person realizes that drinking is bad and mentally prepares himself for a sober life. In the case of chronic alcoholism, this is not easy to do, since ethanol continues to be absorbed into the systemic circulation in high concentrations. Vigilant relatives and timely access to a drug treatment clinic come to the rescue. You can get out of binge drinking yourself, but this requires good motivation (in other words, you need to find your own benefit).

Personal motivation

If a drinker is not able to completely give up drinking alcohol, he needs to be properly motivated. Otherwise, toxic addiction will continue to reduce the quality of life and decompose the once integral personality. To achieve radical changes in the consciousness of an alcoholic, you need to attract the following plans, dreams and aspirations:

  • the desire to preserve the family and respect of loved ones;
  • persistent desire to restore one’s good name in society;
  • plans for obtaining a new, promising job;
  • the desire to start a family and healthy offspring;
  • the desire to prove to the masses that an alcoholic is still worth something;
  • desire to move up the career ladder and achieve personal growth;
  • panic fear of death, incurable diseases.

What factors influence the success of the procedure?

The desire alone is not enough to quickly and effectively get out of this state without additional help from a doctor; it is necessary to realistically assess the prevailing clinical picture, taking into account the internal mood of the addicted person to quit drinking. Below are the main factors that can play a decisive role in the life of a binge alcoholic:

  • duration of exposure to ethanol (the more you drink, the harder it is to be treated and remove intoxication products from the blood);
  • daily doses of ethanol (the more alcohol consumed, the more serious the health complications of a binge alcoholic);
  • the presence of chronic diseases against the background of withdrawal syndrome (under the influence of ethanol, a relapse of the underlying disease progresses, and it is difficult for doctors to predict the health consequences);
  • previous head injuries (in this case we are talking about a concussion with loss of consciousness or short-term amnesia);
  • the quality of alcoholic beverages consumed (low-quality products significantly increase the risk of death).

How to get out of binge drinking on your own

To effectively remove acetaldehyde from the blood and stomach, action must be taken immediately, and without medical intervention, stable positive dynamics can be ensured at home. If the binge lasts no more than 2 days, it is important to strictly adhere to the following sequence of actions:

  1. Immediately stop the intake of ethanol into the body, i.e., stop further drinking alcoholic beverages.
  2. In the morning, you first need to take 1.5 liters of water orally, then drink 2 - 3 tablets of activated carbon (another sorbent). Drugs for the liver and stomach become an auxiliary treatment for visible symptoms.
  3. Afterwards, you need to drink high-fat broth and take a contrast shower to invigorate and stimulate systemic blood flow.
  4. Day and evening, it is important to repeat such procedures, starting with the intake of sorbents and ending with water sessions involving cold and hot water.
  5. Throughout the day, natural juices and berry fruit drinks are recommended, as well as increased physical activity in the absence of chronic fatigue.

If the question of how to get out of a binge without a doctor relates to alcohol intoxication that lasts longer than 2–3 days, the first step is to artificially induce vomiting. This is important so that the stomach can no longer adsorb ethanol with further distribution into the circulatory system. After introducing the remaining toxins, sorbents must be ingested, according to the weight category. In the future, carry out symptomatic treatment at home.

What is needed for treatment

Before quitting a binge without a doctor, you need to recognize the health problem. Then act according to the established scheme: first induce vomiting, then take sorbents, carry out symptomatic therapy. In such a clinical picture, it is necessary not only to take individual medications from several pharmacological groups, but also to individually correct nutrition, habitual lifestyle, and bad habits. Here's what you'll need to effectively treat binge drinking without the presence of a doctor:

Medicines. The main goals of therapy, how to get out of a long binge without a doctor, are to stop the effects of ethanol on the kidneys, heart and other important organs; accelerate the removal of toxic substances from the body and promote the restoration of organic resources. Representatives of the following pharmacological groups are welcome:

  • enterosorbents necessary to restore gastric mucosa damaged by ethanol and stimulate intestinal motility: Polysorb-MP, Enterosgel, Polyphepan, activated carbon;
  • antiemetics and saline solutions for removing intoxication products: Cerucal, Regidron;
  • heart medications to stabilize blood pressure, combat arrhythmia and tachycardia, provide a long-term effect without relapse for the myocardium and cardiovascular system: Corvalol, Validol, Valocordin, Valerian in the form of a decoction or tincture;
  • oral antispasmodics and analgesics to eliminate acute migraines, attacks of pain of unknown etiology, to alleviate general well-being: No-shpa, Analgin, Ibuprofen, No-shpalgin;
  • diuretics internally are necessary for the productive removal of ethanol residues from the drinker’s body, normalizing the functioning of the kidneys and kidneys: Furosemide, rosehip decoction;
  • sedatives and tranquilizers to calm and relax the nervous system, eliminate cravings for alcohol, combat depression: Phenazepam, Metronidazole, Tiapride, Diazepam, Aminalon;
  • multivitamin complexes a complete treatment course for quickly relieving muscle and emotional tension, strengthening local immunity, for example, Pikovit, AlfaVit, Duovit;
  • injection solutions for drip administration to restore the water-salt balance, rid the organic resource of intoxication products, symptoms of long-term binge drinking.

Foods that help detoxify the body. To help get out of binge drinking, you need to change the drinker’s menu, enrich it with valuable sources of water, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Such adjustments speed up the process of getting rid of withdrawal symptoms and have a tonic and restorative effect. The following food products have proven themselves to be effective:

  • citrus fruits, rich in acetylsalicylic acid to remove toxins and free radicals;
  • sour berries or berry fruit drinks to increase the permeability of vascular walls and strengthen the vessels themselves, increase appetite;
  • low-fat dairy products which, during binge drinking, removes harmful, toxic substances from the body;
  • beef or chicken broth to tone the whole body, reduce the severity of signs of alcohol intoxication;
  • mineral water or brine, which not only quench thirst during hangover symptoms, but also have bactericidal properties;
  • light porridge, which do not overload systemic digestion and normalize intestinal motility.

How to deal with short-term binge drinking - the three-day method

If the patient has finally decided to quit drinking, and has enough willpower due to the specific nature of his character, he can use the “three days” method of getting rid of toxic addiction, which is effective in practice. This technique is appropriate in the early stages of alcoholism, if we are talking about a short-term drunken state. You can implement it at home, the main thing is to follow the proposed sequence of actions, the chronology of the required stages, you can involve a course of massage.

The first day

The first step is to completely give up alcoholic beverages and eliminate their presence at home. It is necessary to vigilantly check that there is not a drop of alcohol left. The main task of the patient at this stage is to refuse the hangover after waking up in the morning, to show willpower and the desire to quit drinking forever. It will not be easy, since you may encounter symptoms such as dizziness, excessive sweating, internal chills, temperature changes, painful sensations in the head, and confusion. These symptoms are bedridden.

To normalize the general condition, an alcoholic needs to sleep and drink more, completely give up physical and emotional stress, and switch his thoughts from drinking alcohol. To accelerate positive dynamics, it is necessary to take sorbents such as Enterosgel and activated carbon. This is important for the productive removal of toxins, pain relief, calming and relaxing a tense nervous system. You need to drink 1.5 liters of water and take 2 - 3 tablets of activated carbon, then drink fatty broth and sleep.

Day two – intensive detoxification

The next day of an alcoholic should begin with a cup of sweet, strong tea, since the intake of glucose into the body has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the cardiovascular system and provides the organic resource with the necessary energy. Do not drink coffee and do not smoke under any circumstances, since caffeine and nicotine negatively affect the condition of the vascular walls.

In addition, after a long binge, be sure to drink more liquid, for example, chicken broth, herbal infusions, and berry fruit drinks. If necessary, in order to neutralize the effects of toxins, it will not hurt to take sorbents, a contrast shower and get more rest. Gradually introduce fermented milk products, lean cereals, and natural vitamins into the therapeutic diet.

Day three - restoration of body functions

The recommended intake of fluid into the body is 2–3 liters, but we are not just talking about water. The intake of herbal decoctions, berry fruit drinks and natural juices with a high content of vitamin C is encouraged. The patient's appetite significantly increases, and pronounced signs of fever and alcohol intoxication disappear. To speed up the natural healing process, you can not only increase physical activity, but also adhere to a therapeutic diet. To restore liver function, oral administration of hepatoprotectors is necessary, as an option - Gepabene, Essentiale Forte.

What to do if the binge lasts 7 days or longer

During a long-term binge, a patient should not be overtired; he must strictly adhere to bed rest. Restoring general well-being at home will not be easy, but solving the main problem of how to get out of binge drinking without a doctor is almost impossible. An alcoholic can be given ammonia to drink, which must first be diluted in water. The second option for a painless recovery is to eat sour cabbage soup or a whole lemon. You can eat a raw egg or drink milk and honey. Mustard plaster on the back of the head or a contrast shower help.

The main goal is to avoid dangerous health consequences and hospitalization in such a clinical picture (with a week-long binge), and restore normal liver function. It is possible to use medications in the form of infusions to perform droppers (administration of the medicine is indicated very slowly, by drip). When answering the question of how to get out of binge drinking without a doctor, difficulties immediately arise, since not everyone can install such a system at home.

Gradual reduction in alcohol dose

Doctors report that if you quickly quit drinking, the patient may be overtaken by a state of deep depression. But this is not the worst of the complications, since in addition to mental balance, physical health is also significantly impaired. Among the potential consequences of abrupt ethanol withdrawal, doctors identify the following unpleasant symptoms:

  • alcoholic delirium;
  • disorders of the cardiovascular system;
  • visual and auditory hallucinations;
  • emotional instability;
  • extensive brain damage;
  • tendency to aggression (anger at the whole world);
  • symptoms of angina, arrhythmia, tachycardia;
  • complaints about vision loss;
  • major heart attack, stroke;
  • tremors and cramps of the limbs;
  • symptoms of withdrawal (in advanced clinical pictures);
  • pathologies of the pancreas, pancreatitis.

Neutralization of toxins

Before quitting a binge without a doctor, you need to think several times. The body is in a state of acute intoxication, so delay in this matter can cost a person’s life. There are many medications available at the pharmacy, but only a knowledgeable specialist can prescribe the most effective and safe ones. Below are medications to combat hangover syndrome that can neutralize the effects of toxins in the body:

  1. Activated carbon. Prevents the absorption of ethanol from the gastrointestinal tract.
  2. Glycine. Restores injured nerve cells and prevents the destruction of healthy ones.
  3. Succinic acid (in tablet form). An important component of energy metabolism, it is necessary to speed up the cleansing process.
  4. Alkazeltzer. Effervescent tablets in the fight against acute intoxication of the body are sold in any pharmacy.
  5. Aspirin or Paracetamol. Accelerates the removal of toxins from the body, has a positive effect on local immunity, and thins the blood.
  6. Enterosgel. Additionally, it has hepatoprotective properties and has a systemic effect in the body.

Taking medications

When deciding how to quickly get out of binge drinking without a doctor, it is important not to forget about the help of drug therapy. The first step is to carefully read the instructions for use of each medication and eliminate potential medical contraindications:

  1. Limontar. It is necessary to dissolve 1 tablet in a glass of water, add baking soda on the edge of a knife. It is advisable to take it before a meal and the question of how to get out of binge drinking will be resolved after 2 - 3 days.
  2. Glycine. It is important to take such small tablets, one 4 times a day, to quickly regain consciousness and eliminate nervous attacks. You can purchase the drug at a pharmacy without a prescription.
  3. Afobazole. This is a sedative with a maximum daily dose of 5 tablets (it even successfully treats psychosis). It is advisable to take the pills between meals; you can supplement your treatment with a relaxing bath or contrast shower.
  4. Donormil. When solving the problem of how to quickly get out of a binge without a doctor, this remedy is not suitable, since it is sold in a pharmacy strictly according to a prescription. There are contraindications and side effects.
  5. Anaprilin. This medication is necessary when blood pressure rises above 150 mm. rt. Art. and pulse from 90 beats. per minute The medicine is not compatible with alcohol, so it only intensifies the symptoms of acute intoxication of the body.
  6. Engilok. This is a complete analogue of the drug described above, which can be purchased without a prescription. To regulate blood pressure, you need to drink 1 tablet three times a day.
  7. Cavinton. This medicine is appropriate for surges in blood pressure and flushing of the face. Doctors recommend taking pills before a noisy feast to significantly reduce the intensity of a hangover.
  8. Gepabene. It is a hepatoprotector that can restore impaired liver functions. The drug is not harmful, can participate in the discussion of the topic of how to get out of binge drinking without a doctor.
  9. Essentiale Forte (Essliver Forte). Another hepatoprotector of plant origin, necessary to support liver functions. Capable of breaking down ethanol and facilitating the work of the “human filter”.
  10. Phenibut. A drug with anxiolytic activity in the form of tablets for oral administration. The recommended dose is 1 pill three times a day for 10 to 14 days, depending on medical indications.

Traditional methods of combating alcohol poisoning

Alternative medicine methods also provide stable positive dynamics during long-term binge drinking. They must be used in combination with official medications, but after gastric lavage against the background of digestive upset. This is a good way to recover faster and significantly reduce the list of potential health complications. Below are time-tested recipes for health:

  1. Calendula. It is necessary to prepare a decoction according to the classic recipe - 1 tbsp. l. raw materials for 1 tbsp. boiling water Infuse, strain, use instead of tea. Calendula can be replaced with chamomile; it also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
  2. Motherwort root. Grind the dried raw materials, then in the amount of 1 tbsp. l. powder pour 1 tbsp. boiling water and simmer over moderate heat for 15 - 20 minutes. Infuse, strain, take a third of a glass orally three times a day until the withdrawal syndrome completely disappears.
  3. Marigold. You need 1 tsp. crushed raw materials, pour 0.5 liters of boiling water, leave for 10 minutes. Use the strained and slightly cooled composition instead of tea, thereby suppressing unbearable gag reflexes.
  4. It is recommended to eat a whole lemon, having previously divided it into slices. Vitamin C quickly restores vascular tone, has a positive effect on systemic blood flow and local immunity. You can replace lemons with carrot or apple juice, which is even good for a hangover.

Normalization of nutrition

It is important to know how to get out of binge drinking without a doctor, so that, if necessary, you can apply such knowledge in practice. For example, you can dilute glycerin with water and take it orally or use ammonia. In addition, it is important to radically reconsider the daily diet of an alcoholic and make certain adjustments to it. Below are valuable recommendations on a given topic:

  1. As soon as the symptoms of the addiction pass, the addicted person develops a strong appetite. It is advisable to start the treatment menu with small portions of chicken broth, gradually introducing low-fat fermented milk products (kefir, yogurt, whey).
  2. Among the methods of how to quickly get out of binge drinking without a doctor, it is important not to forget about the benefits of sour cabbage soup, sauerkraut, tomatoes and cucumbers. Such food ingredients must be included in the menu of an alcoholic; bread kvass is also useful.

Video

Briefly: Narcologist Maxim Kirsanov tells how to restore the body after a long binge: he talks separately about the stage of withdrawal syndrome, and separately about the next stage - asthenic. The article pays special attention to caring for the heart, stomach and intestines, nervous system - as well as how to restore the ability to fully live and work after the binge has ended. Medicines, remedies are listed and separately indicated what should not be done during treatment so as not to harm the body.

To restore the body after binge drinking, you need to:

  1. In the first week:
    • drink plenty of liquids (mineral water, compote, tea);
    • eat gentle food (jelly, low-fat broth);
    • lower blood pressure (magnesia, adelfan, etc.);
    • compensate for the lack of potassium. Take Panangin (asparkam) or Kalinor. There are dried apricots, honey, apples, bananas, oranges, etc.;
    • relieve anxiety, relax. Take glycine, afobazole, carbamazepine, grandaxin or mebicar.
  2. In the second week:
    • to sleep more. For insomnia, take Finlepsin or Phenibut;
    • eat foods rich in proteins and vitamins (meat, eggs, cottage cheese, vegetables, fruits);
    • walk in the fresh air and do a little physical exercise.

First, you need to divide the recovery period into two stages. The first is the actual withdrawal syndrome. Its duration is usually within 7-10 days. Mistaken by most people for a hangover, the acute phase of withdrawal syndrome actually lasts 2-3 days. This phase is felt by a person and experienced by him. But the body takes about a week to come to its senses, as they say. During this time, the work of most vital organs and systems stabilizes.

In the second stage, we will fight low performance, which is scientifically called asthenia or “asthenic symptom complex.” The duration of this stage can reach a month. Let's analyze each stage separately.

In addition, read the article “How to restore the body after alcohol” - about how to help the body recover not after a binge, but with a hangover after a one-time drinking session, as well as how you can restore the health and functionality of organs damaged by alcohol.

1. Withdrawal syndrome

To replenish potassium deficiency Panangin (asparkam) and Kalinor are indicated. Healthy foods include dried apricots, honey, viburnum, bananas, apples, avocados, oranges, and tangerines.

Other, more serious disorders (heart rhythm disturbances, deterioration of blood supply to the heart muscle, cardiovascular failure) should be treated exclusively in a hospital setting!

Work of the gastrointestinal tract

Most often, a person who is in a drunken state loses his appetite. That is, the stomach is forced not to receive the substrate that it must digest. However, the production of gastric juice does not stop, and it contains hydrochloric acid. The conclusion is extremely simple - the stomach begins to corrode itself, its mucous membrane becomes inflamed. Hence the frequent problems of drinkers in the form of gastritis and stomach ulcers.

When a person comes out of a binge, you need to start little by little, in small portions, but definitely have. Perhaps at first you even force yourself to do it. Drink jelly: they coat the wall of the stomach, preventing further irritating effects of gastric juice.

With the aim of replenish lost proteins It is good to use non-fat, non-concentrated chicken broth (fat in this state is practically not absorbed, causing stool disorders - diarrhea, which can already accompany recovery from binge drinking). And protein deficiency has an extremely negative effect on the condition of cells, primarily the brain. With a low protein content, they begin to swell, causing disorders of consciousness, severe memory impairment, and a decrease in the ability to perceive reality.

Milk has a positive effect, but problems can also arise with it. In adults, as a rule, the number of enzymes that break down the proteins and fats contained in it decreases significantly. Milk itself can cause bowel problems in adults. Therefore, if you don’t tolerate it well even in everyday life, then there is no need to burden your body.

Do not eat smoked meats, pickles and marinades, hot, spicy, fatty foods, sandwiches, all kinds of tonic and synthetic drinks (Cola, Sprite, Pepsi, Fanta, energy drinks and others).

As mentioned above, eat small portions, preferably more often. The benefits of fermented milk products are controversial. As an exception, you can eat yoghurts (without flavorings) and children's curds.

Anxiety after binge drinking. central nervous system

The main companions of the withdrawal state can be called irritability, insomnia, groundless anxiety after binge drinking.

The first thing we can recommend is to try to somehow distract yourself (although it will be difficult) from your poor health. A good effect is obtained by watching light programs that do not strain the brain, films, music videos, cartoons and the like. It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to read a book, even fiction. At first, after a long binge, it is unlikely that you will be able to go outside due to the anxiety that often arises after binge drinking. But if you succeed, then it’s better to spend time somewhere in a park, forest park, where the sounds of civilization are not heard, in a company or alone - it’s up to you to decide.

Internal trembling, irritability, and agitation will help relieve either a warm bath or a warm, pleasant shower.

Glycine, afobazole, finlepsin (carbamazepine), grandaxin, mebicar will help you cope with anxiety after binge drinking. To combat severe sleep disorders, phenazepam is used in drug treatment practice, in a dosage of no more than 0.1 - 0.05 mg at night for 2-3 days, but it can only be obtained by prescription.

2. Performance

As a rule, the main functions of the body by this time (7 - 10 days after binge drinking) have already returned to normal. The heart calmed down, blood pressure stabilized, appetite and intestinal function were restored.

Restoring the body after binge drinking

For those who like to drink occasionally, a pressing problem is: how to recover from binge drinking? Any drinking session will end sooner or later. A severe hangover will follow. You will learn right now how to properly recover from alcohol abuse.

What to do?

After drinking, a person will experience unpleasant symptoms:

  • He will have a headache.
  • Your face will swell.
  • Your arms and legs will begin to tremble.
  • He will constantly feel sick.

The root cause of this unpleasant condition is poisoning with alcoholic breakdown products. No more than 5% of toxic substances are eliminated by the body through sweat, urination, or exhalation of alcohol. All remaining toxic compounds continue to be in the bloodstream, poisoning the body. Therefore, it is first required that all functions of the internal organs be restored.

Recovery from binge drinking with uncomplicated symptoms can be carried out at home. This requires:

  • Cleanse the body of alcoholic breakdown products.
  • Treat yourself with medications.
  • Follow a special diet.
  • Change your lifestyle.

How to help the body?

After prolonged drinking of alcohol, all organs are poisoned, but most of all damage occurs to the liver, pancreas, other organs of the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and central nervous system. It takes a long time for an alcohol-dependent patient to recover health. This depends on many factors, because each human body is individual. Each organ recovers over different periods of time.

After the patient has begun to lead a sober lifestyle, he will feel good only after 2 or 4 months, which will have a positive effect on his appearance. Brain cells will renew themselves in at least 12 months. To eliminate vitamin deficiency, the patient is prescribed a complex of vitamin preparations, and to improve health, one should drink citrus juices. When an alcohol-dependent patient stops drinking alcohol, he is in a stressful state. At this time, he needs to be treated with medications and supported psychologically.

Let's restore the liver

To restore the body after binge drinking, you need to normalize the body's functioning. To do this, you first need to restore liver function. The liver is capable of regenerating. The regeneration process will occur only after stopping drinking alcohol. In order for regeneration to take place quickly, salted, smoked, fatty and fried foods are excluded, as well as foods rich in flavor enhancers, dyes, preservatives, stabilizers and other chemical additives.

Natural foods rich in vitamins and plant fiber (vegetables and fruits) are indicated. To normalize liver function, the doctor will prescribe treatment with Karsil, Hofitol, Ursofalk, Essentiale, Gepabene, Liv 52. At home, liver function can be normalized if the patient drinks olive oil and lemon juice no more than one teaspoon in the morning.

Let's help the kidneys

With binge drinking, kidney function is impaired. They are heavily overloaded, removing alcohol metabolites from the body. To normalize kidney function, the patient is recommended to increase physical activity.

The following should be excluded from the diet:

  • salt;
  • onions and garlic;
  • legumes, smoked meats;
  • coffee and chocolate;
  • canned food and pickles;
  • fatty meats.

To quickly remove ethanol compounds from the body, you need to drink water that does not contain gas, since alcohol causes the body to become dehydrated. Liquid evaporation also occurs when a person sweats. The renal zone is painful, metabolic processes are disrupted, urine becomes dark in color, and its volume is reduced. The skin dries out, the patient always feels tired, drowsy, and the activity of the heart is impaired.

In order to prevent dehydration, a person must drink up to 2 liters of plain water per day. The diet should include vegetables, fruits and dairy products. To cleanse the kidneys of alcohol toxins, it is recommended to take dill, juniper, rose hips, sage, and nettle decoction. Oregano, black elderberry, and birch leaves are also suitable for decoction.

Help your brain

Regenerative processes of the brain are activated on the 20th day after the patient refused to drink alcohol. The brain is most sensitive to alcohol intoxication. Without timely therapeutic measures, the patient:

  • Movements become uncoordinated.
  • Cerebral blood flow is disrupted.
  • Inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • The level of intelligence decreases, amnesia develops, and conscious activity is impaired.

To restore brain functions, long-term complex therapeutic measures are necessary. For this, vitamin preparations and medications that normalize cerebral blood flow and eliminate pain are indicated. Treatment with nootropic, antidepressant and sedatives is also indicated (treated with Melaxen, Mexidol, Neuromultivit, Glycine).

Diet will help the pancreas

To restore the pancreas after alcohol abuse, you need to eat right, otherwise this organ will be overloaded and its dysfunction will increase. The combination of acidic and fatty foods, protein and carbohydrate compounds is unacceptable. Spicy, fatty and fried foods are excluded. It is recommended to eat salads with olive oil.

If the heart is naughty

Often, many patients have increased heart rhythms, tachycardia, and greatly increased blood pressure. These conditions are eliminated with the help of β-blockers. But you need to know that these drugs are not used for low blood pressure. As a rule, they are treated with: Anaprilin, Bisoprolol, Atenolol, Propranolol. If arrhythmias are caused by a deficiency of potassium and magnesium, then they are treated with Panangin, Regidron or Asparkam.

About medicines

To regain strength after a week of alcoholism, you can treat yourself at home with medications:

  • Activated carbon or Enterosgel. These products have an absorbent effect, which will help rid the body of toxins. If signs of intoxication are displayed on the face, then taking sorbents on an empty stomach is indicated.
  • Alka-Seltzer. This remedy neutralizes hydrochloric acid in the gastric mucous membranes. Pain will also be eliminated.
  • Zorex. The product eliminates intoxication symptoms and protects liver cells from toxins.
  • Aspirin. The remedy will eliminate pain and trembling of the body, and improve microcirculatory processes.

What else will help after binge drinking?

The body's recovery after binge drinking will be faster if you follow simple rules. In the morning you need to stand under a contrast shower. This perfectly tones the blood vessels. Cool and hot water alternately constricts and dilates blood vessels, as a result of which blood flow is activated and metabolic processes are stimulated. The removal of toxins from the body will occur faster.

In order for a person to return to normal faster, it is necessary to rinse the stomach. But often you don’t need to do this. To prepare a saline solution, take 1 teaspoon of table or sea salt per 1 liter of boiled water. Such water is drunk in large volumes, and vomiting is caused faster. The procedure is repeated until the secreted stomach contents are translucent. After this manipulation, you need to eat and drink green tea.

A cleansing enema will help relieve a hangover. For the procedure, potassium permanganate or the juice of ½ part of a lemon is used, which is diluted in 1 liter of water. If signs of dehydration are observed, then you need to drink purified water every 15–17 minutes, and brines will replenish the mineral balance. To tone yourself up and stop your headache, you need to squeeze the juice out of an orange, grind a lemon, add a little honey and one yolk of a raw chicken egg. All ingredients are whisked and drunk in one gulp.

A decoction of cinnamon will help eliminate nausea. To prepare it, take ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, which is diluted in a glass of hot water. Drink until symptoms disappear. Exercise will help you get back into normal shape. Exercise vigorously for no more than 15–17 minutes. But if the patient has heart problems, then it is better not to risk it.

About the benefits of intravenous infusion

Thanks to the dropper, you can quickly eliminate the manifestations of intoxication, which will bring relief to the patient. There are many advantages of intravenous infusion. The patient does not need to take many different tablets, since all medications are added when the IV is administered. Medicines penetrate immediately into the bloodstream and tissue structures, where they will have a therapeutic effect.

When the solution is infused, the blood thins. This reduces the load on the heart and blood vessels, reducing the likelihood of complicated conditions. The drugs that make up the drip will clear alcohol metabolites, restore the balance of electrolytes, and the volume of intravascular fluid.

Each patient's body recovers individually after binge drinking. It depends on the duration of the drinking period and how susceptible the person is to alcohol, how much alcohol he drank, and what quality it was. If a person is unable to give up alcohol, then he should at least try to eat more snacks and drink clean water. The best option is to completely abstain from alcohol, then the person will have fewer problems.

How to effectively recover from binge drinking

High-quality recovery after binge drinking is the key to good health without complications.

Only 5% of toxins formed as a result of drinking alcohol are eliminated from the human body naturally: exhaled air, sweat, urine. The bulk of toxins are retained in the body. The speed of recovery directly depends on the duration of the binge, the age of the drinker and the length of addiction.

How to recover after binge drinking? To do this, you must follow several rules.

  1. Have a desire to get out of the binge.
  2. Set aside one day to follow possible procedures.
  3. No contraindications: stomach ulcer and gastric bleeding, uncontrollable vomiting, delirium tremens, psychosis.

On the second day after drinking, you should take a contrast shower. You need to turn on cold water first, then hot water. The procedure should be carried out carefully. Beginners in this business should start with cool water, and as they harden, with cold water.

Next, you should overcome dehydration caused by binge drinking. When drinking alcohol along with liquid, sodium and potassium salts, which are important for the normal functioning of the muscular and nervous systems, are washed out of the body, resulting in body aches and headaches. It is necessary to drink plenty of water to replenish moisture: 1 glass every 15 minutes. The best option in this case would be to use brines and mineral (still) water, which will replenish the loss of salts.

If you suffer from weakness, headache, nausea and vomiting, then you need to prepare an infusion of peppermint or salted tomato juice. It is recommended to prepare a restorative cocktail: take freshly squeezed orange juice and add lemon with peel, raw egg yolk, honey. Beat all ingredients well in a mixer.

If you suffer from severe nausea and weakness, then a decoction of cinnamon will help. Preparation: half a teaspoon of cinnamon is diluted in a glass of hot water. Take 1 glass until symptoms disappear.

How to cleanse the body after drinking? You can drink some sweet drink, since sugar promotes urination, thereby removing intoxication products.

You can recover with an enema. A weak solution of potassium permanganate or the juice of half a lemon is diluted in one liter of water.

There are biological additives that can help bring the body back into order: royal jelly, kudzu extract. They reduce the craving for alcohol and restore normal metabolism. This further improves the performance and general well-being of the patient.

You can alleviate suffering using publicly available methods. The most effective is sleep after a binge and a walk in the fresh air.

Eating after a binge

You can restore your body after drinking with the help of a certain diet. Accidental snacking is completely excluded. You should eat porridge, borscht, soup, hot chicken or beef broth.

To compensate for potassium deficiency, you should eat a few bananas. Beekeeping products are suitable for these purposes. Honey is considered the most important product in the fight against this problem.

B vitamins and ascorbic acid will compensate for the lack of vitamins.

How to restore the body after binge drinking.

What to do after a binge to quickly restore the body? The attending physician knows this and can install a “double drip”. The “quick sobering up” technique is also used, but it is not suitable for eliminating long-term binge drinking, but is intended for recovery after a heavy one-time libation.

Within 2-4 hours the narcologist will return the patient to normal condition. The procedure is carried out with the help of certain medications that can quickly restore the body after drinking. Such a dropper helps to overcome the possible consequences of binge drinking, restore body functions, and return the patient to working capacity. In this case, injections of neurostimulants, vitamins, and drugs that normalize the cardiovascular system are used.

Restoring health after drinking is quite difficult. The correct way out of binge drinking determines the length of remission. People who quit drinking may experience the same problems again.

Dependency problems

There are two problems with alcohol addiction:

  • that occur when drinking alcoholic beverages. This is the physical condition of a person who abuses alcohol. The more he drinks, the worse his body becomes;
  • masquerading as alcohol.

As a rule, on the second day after binge drinking, emotional distress occurs. A person feels various troubles in life, emptiness, discomfort, and his nerves become more frayed.

The duration of the next abstinence from alcohol depends on the correct organization of exit from binge drinking.

  1. As previously mentioned, it is necessary to organize a certain diet, which is based on a simple diet. Avoid coffee and other energy drinks.
  2. It is necessary to create physical activity for the body. It is she who relieves emotional stress and allows you to relax.
  3. To get rid of stress, various activities are welcome, for example: yoga, qigong. Good things to do: hiking, basket weaving, fishing. To quickly restore your depressed morale, it is recommended to visit massage, phototherapy, and acupuncture.

Prolonged drinking causes absolute alcoholic insomnia, which is a short-term and sensitive sleep with hallucinations. The patient imagines various calls, calls, and sensations of falling. To restore sleep after a binge, you will have to take vascular, sedative and psychotropic drugs prescribed by your doctor. You are prohibited from choosing them yourself.

In order to avoid getting into this situation, you should distract yourself. The ideal option is to go on a long trip to a place where alcohol is prohibited or where it is difficult to get. You need to make new acquaintances who are not associated with alcohol, visit a good psychotherapist or psychiatrist who will help you get on the right path. The main thing is to have a desire to quit alcohol, because without it all efforts are in vain.

How to effectively restore the body after prolonged alcohol consumption

Alcoholic drinks cause serious harm to the body. Heart, liver, brain, kidneys - all vital organs suffer. Therefore, when decisively abandoning the harmful addiction, it is important to take measures aimed at removing ethanol breakdown products.

Recovery of the body after alcohol will be more successful with an integrated approach to solving the problem.

It includes treatment through medications, “grandmother’s” methods and psychological influence. But even in this case, you should not expect a quick effect.

Full rehabilitation of the patient requires a long period of time. The treatment regimen is selected individually by the attending physician. Few people who drink are able to cope with addiction on their own, so you should not neglect the help of specialists.

The effect of alcohol on the body

Ethyl alcohol is a weak poison, the negative effect of which appears gradually. Its main danger is that it has a strong toxic effect. As a result of alcohol abuse, the nervous, cardiovascular, endocrine, genitourinary and digestive systems suffer.

After drinking alcohol, brain cells die, the liver is destroyed, personality degradation occurs, and kidney failure develops.

The list goes on for a long time. By recognizing the problem, a person takes the first step towards recovery. At the first stage it will be more difficult for him than during other periods of treatment. This is due to the presence of withdrawal syndrome. It occurs already in the second stage of alcoholism.

Its symptoms include:

  1. Heart rhythm disturbances.
  2. Severe headaches.
  3. Convulsive syndrome.
  4. Trembling of limbs.
  5. Hallucinations.
  6. Excessive sweating.
  7. Sudden change of mood.
  8. Problems with the gastrointestinal tract.
  9. Weakness throughout the body.
  10. Insomnia.
  11. Arterial hypertension.

To restore the body after alcohol, you will need to muster all your willpower. During this period of time, the body rebels against the therapy, since acetaldehyde and other breakdown products of ethanol have not yet been eliminated.

Stages of treatment

The body's recovery after quitting alcohol occurs over several stages. Each of them requires supervision of the attending physician. When alcohol abuse occurs, the human body functions in critical mode. During the detoxification period, the patient must remain in a hospital. Otherwise, alcoholic psychosis is possible.

If purification from the breakdown products of ethyl alcohol occurs at home, then the likelihood of successful treatment is significantly reduced. Self-selection of medications aggravates the current situation.

After seven “sober” days, the patient notes a noticeable improvement in his condition. No dizziness, problems with sleep and digestion. After another week, shortness of breath disappears, blood pressure normalizes and the brain is activated.

A month without alcohol is marked by the complete liberation of the body from ethanol, which has a positive effect on the functioning of the reproductive system and psycho-emotional state. The craving for alcoholic beverages is practically absent.

Drug therapy

How to restore the body of an addicted person after prolonged use of alcohol?

First you need to clean it. Excess toxic substances are removed using a cleansing enema and medications.

Purification is carried out using drugs from the group of sorbents. Activated carbon is considered the most accessible. Take it in the calculation: one tablet per ten kilograms of weight. The use of diuretics is also recommended. They help remove toxins and waste after drinking alcohol.

Natural products are often used as diuretics. Similar properties are characteristic of cherries, melons and watermelons. In addition to adjusting your diet, you will need to adhere to the drinking regime.

A specialist usually prescribes the use of alkaline mineral water, preferably without gas. They may prescribe rehydron. In case of dehydration, a drip with saline and glucose is placed.

As a result of detoxification, there is a shortage of substances such as B vitamins; Ca; Mg and K. To restore the balance, asparkam, pentovit, multivitamin complexes, and ascorbic acid are prescribed. Oxygen starvation is prevented with glycine and Corvalol.

All medications prescribed after drinking alcohol are divided into four groups, including:

  1. Medicines for recovery. They contain essential phospholipids, which promote the regeneration of hepatocytes.
  2. Regenerating and activating drugs. Their main element is folic acid. Its effect is complemented by the effect of biologically active compounds that are designed to stimulate the growth of new cells.
  3. Medicines for cleansing. They will help avoid the consequences caused by intoxication.
  4. Compositions that strengthen hepatocyte membranes. These substances will help stabilize the condition of the kidneys and block the effect of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

If the patient's condition is alarming, he is hospitalized. Alcohol intoxication can cause coma and death. Therefore, you should not go to extremes. The help of a toxicologist will be most welcome. It is easier to recover from addiction by quitting smoking.

Nicotine is an antagonist that provokes dysfunction of blood vessels, so smoking even a few cigarettes a day will significantly reduce the positive effect of the measures taken.

Vitamins, nootropics, antidepressants, hepatoprotectors - all of them are present in the therapeutic regimen when restoring the body of a person who abuses alcohol. Be sure to follow the prescribed dosages.

Alternative medicine

How to cleanse your body after alcohol at home?

You can stop the process of destruction of brain cells after drinking alcohol using herbal medicine.

Useful infusions are prepared from:

  1. Milk thistle.
  2. St. John's wort.
  3. Sporysha.
  4. Daisies.
  5. Immortelle.
  6. Coltsfoot.
  7. Yellow gentian.
  8. Rose hips.

To help the body, you need to take ½ glass of a cooled drink daily before meals.

You can restore the functioning of damaged cells through herbal remedies. After drinking alcohol, taking a decoction made from dry knotweed, nettle, motherwort and hawthorn berries is useful.

The ingredients are taken in equal proportions, mixed in a thermos, and poured with a glass of boiling water. Add a tablespoon of buckwheat honey to the resulting composition. You should drink this folk remedy twice a day on an empty stomach. A single dose is 8 tablespoons.

Recovery after binge drinking at home is possible with the help of sorrel and rowan (proportion 3:2, respectively). The mixture is steamed with 6 glasses of boiling water. Take the infusion three times a day half an hour before meals.

Horsetail juice has the ability to restore the functioning of the brain and other internal organs. To get it, you need to pass the medicinal herb through a meat grinder. The healthy drink is squeezed out using gauze. To preserve it for a long time, it is mixed with honey in a 1:1 ratio. Keep the prepared composition in the refrigerator.

How many days will it take for the body to recover after drinking alcohol?

Therapy carried out at home gives maximum effect after a month. Long-term herbal treatment is characterized by a cumulative effect. People suffering from alcoholism should not interrupt prescribed therapy, as this may negatively affect the result.

Natural ingredients gently cleanse the body and restore the lack of nutrients such as vitamins, trace elements and minerals.

With alcoholism, the digestive system takes the brunt. As a result, failures occur. After drinking alcohol, the gastrointestinal tract is restored by following the prescribed diet.

Meals after binge drinking are scheduled daily, initially it is adjusted depending on the pathological changes. More fruits and juices are introduced into the diet. You should start your day with them, they will help cleanse the body. Grapefruits, apples, bananas, citrus fruits are “live” vitamins that are necessary to activate brain activity and stabilize metabolic metabolism.

The following products will also be useful:

The gastrointestinal tract is restored thanks to fractional nutrition. To alleviate the condition, doctors refuse to eat fatty, fried, spicy foods, and marinades. To reduce the load on the pancreas, “heavy” combinations should be eliminated. It is not recommended to eat meat and sweets, fatty and sour foods at the same time.

It is allowed to consume small amounts of lard, fish, and butter. They contain animal fats necessary for the body. It is mandatory to adhere to the drinking regime (2-3 liters of water per day).

Preventive measures

After excessive drinking, the human body is cleansed through physical activity. Active recreation has a beneficial effect on health and mood. Walking in the fresh air, jogging in the morning or regularly walking your pet - there are many options. Don't forget about eating the right foods.

Eliminating alcohol addiction and the consequences caused by it is possible only if you strictly follow the recommendations of a specialist. This applies to all treatment methods included in the selected complex. Your doctor will tell you how to recover at home.

How quickly will the first results appear, and how long will it take for the body to recover?

This depends on the degree of damage to the brain and other internal organs, the duration of the drinking period, the general state of health, and previous alcohol consumption.

It takes a strong incentive to stop drinking quickly. It also takes time and patience to get rid of drunkenness. It’s worth drinking once and all the efforts made earlier will become wasted time. Treatment and prevention will help if a person gives up alcohol for life.

Recovery after binge drinking

As a result of prolonged and excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, ethyl alcohol, which is included in their composition, can destroy human organs and systems from the inside. The main task of the patient is to recover after a period of heavy drinking, namely the most important organs and systems: liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular and nervous systems.

The system of recovery manipulations after binge drinking includes the following procedures:

  • use of drug therapy;
  • cleansing the body of toxic elements from the breakdown of ethyl alcohol;
  • use of dietary nutrition;
  • giving up alcohol;
  • maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Manipulations to restore organs and systems

This is the first organ that suffers from the harmful effects of ethanol, since it acts as a kind of filter that has the ability to deactivate toxic substances that enter the body. With the abuse of alcohol-containing liquids, liver tissue can degenerate, fatty degeneration, cirrhosis and hepatitis develop.

To cleanse the liver after binge drinking, you can take 1 tbsp. l. olive oil with the addition of lemon juice in the morning, namely on an empty stomach.

Drug therapy includes the use of essential phospholipids (Essentiale forte N, Enerliv), thus, liver recovery occurs faster. The mechanism of action of phospholipids is to restore damaged liver cell membranes. During this period, you should adhere to dietary nutrition, namely, you should refrain from fatty, salty, fried and spicy foods. It is best to eat fiber-rich foods, fruits and vegetables in season.

Almost all toxic substances, including alcohol, leave the body through the kidneys, so they cannot avoid negative effects. Also, with excessive consumption of alcohol, a person loses a large amount of fluid, which in turn leads to dehydration and increased stress on the kidney.

If the patient has a history of kidney pathologies, then it will not be possible to quickly restore them; you only need the help of a doctor. But if there have been no problems with this organ before, then you can use the following recommendations:

  • Drink a sufficient amount of liquid before meals: clean water, rose hip decoction, cranberry juice, mineral water.
  • Avoid eating fatty and spicy foods.
  • Quit cigarettes temporarily.
  • During the recovery period, avoid salty foods.
  • Start doing light exercise.
  • The diet should consist of fruits, vegetables and vegetable oil.

Gastrointestinal tract

The gastric mucosa is subject to severe irritation when drinking alcohol, and problems arise in the functioning of the pancreas. As a result, the following pathologies may develop: inflammation of the pancreas, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, gastritis and other diseases that disrupt normal digestion.

The process of recovery after binge drinking is impossible without the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, since the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract ensures the timely removal of decay products from the body of a sick person.

Proper nutrition and inclusion of certain foods in the diet will help your stomach function, namely:

  • fruits and vegetables help get rid of toxic substances;
  • dairy and fermented milk products have the ability to neutralize toxins;
  • sufficient fluid intake: cranberry juice, green tea, mineral and pure water, natural juice.
  • Every day the patient should consume broth, porridge and soup.

The cardiovascular system

The following changes are observed in the cardiovascular system: increased blood pressure, tachycardia and potassium deficiency.

An attack of tachycardia is stopped by sublingual administration of nifedipine. In some cases, propranolol is added, but only under the strict supervision of the attending physician.

To reduce blood pressure, it is necessary to use antihypertensive drugs (adelfan, magnesium sulfate) with the addition of diuretics (lasix, triampur compositum and acetazolamide).

Panangin and asparkam will help compensate for the lack of potassium in the victim’s body. It is worth adding viburnum, honey, dried apricots, bananas, oranges, apples and tangerines to your diet.

The development of complications such as disturbances in heart rhythm, the development of cardiovascular failure and impaired blood flow in the area of the heart muscle is possible. But all of the above changes in the functioning of the cardiovascular system can only be treated in a hospital setting and under the supervision of a cardiologist.

Nervous system

It is necessary to direct all efforts to restore the functions of the central and peripheral nervous system, which are inhibited under the influence of alcohol-containing liquids. The most severe consequences can occur when the brain is involved in the process, namely, memory impairment, coordination of movements, the patient becomes irritable and aggressive towards others.

Of course, the first thing a victim should do for their body is to completely stop drinking alcohol, since they can hide most of the painful sensations associated with various diseases. In any situation related to alcohol, a person must himself realize the seriousness of the situation, and the severity of the addiction, and go to treatment himself.

Many people suffering from this addiction are trying to find a “magic remedy” that will relieve hangover symptoms and eliminate withdrawal symptoms. In reality, there are remedies that help cope with withdrawal symptoms. What to drink after a binge to eliminate tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), dizziness and severe muscle weakness is described in this article. Here is information about what to drink after a binge to make it easier to endure the torment of withdrawal. All medications should be taken only on the recommendation of the attending physician. The best advice for a person coming out of a long-term binge would be a recommendation to go to a drug treatment clinic. Unfortunately, severe intoxication can be quickly stopped only with the help of intravenous administration of a large amount of special fluids. The basics of what to drink after a long binge are presented in this material. But it is always worth remembering that taking any pharmacological drugs without medical supervision is dangerous to life and health.

What to drink after drinking

Alcoholism leads to profound changes in the psyche. Hippocrates also expressed the knowledge of his contemporaries about alcohol with the words: “Drunkenness is voluntary madness.”

Alcohol abuse leads to social and psychological consequences, a person changes his environment, since people who do not abuse alcohol make him feel guilty for his own addiction. This does not lead to the cessation of drunkenness; rather, on the contrary, he begins to look among sober people for those to blame for his addiction.

Hangover– a vivid and unforgettable manifestation of the body’s processing of alcohol.

The widest range of symptoms, affecting all systems of the body and causing you to suffer, comes as soon as the level of alcohol in the blood begins to decrease and develops to its maximum when it approaches zero. Suddenly, even controlled studies were carried out, establishing that general weakness, thirst, headache, a feeling of dizziness or lightheadedness, fatigue, decreased appetite, nausea, abdominal pain and a feeling of increased heartbeat - this is it, a native alcoholic hangover, and what -Some of the symptoms, such as sleep disturbances and gastrointestinal disorders, relate to reactions to related substances. Drowsiness and decreased mental function are the main ones.

Having carefully looked at the mechanisms of the action of alcohol on the body and the reasons for subsequent ill health, we are already armed with knowledge when analyzing various kinds of advice and “folk remedies”. This is important - both for maintaining health, and for quickly getting rid of a hangover, and for the subsequent effective cleansing of the body and restoration of health. Now let’s begin to study the question of what to drink after a binge, in more depth and detail.

An analgesic will relieve a headache, but will not eliminate its cause - it will only hide it deeper, just as drugs for the liver will not recreate a damaged organ, but will only replenish the supply of vitamins. Hot spicy foods will only reduce the unpleasant sensation in the mouth. However, some old remedies - such as baking soda - improve well-being because they restore the acid-base balance in the body. We have already said that a hangover consists of three main ailments (the presence of toxic substances in the body; loss of essential minerals and vitamins; abnormal state of brain cells), and each of them requires treatment.

If you have a hangover, you should be careful even when using remedies from your first aid kit. Each apartment has a first aid kit, where next to the adhesive plaster and iodine there are medications familiar to everyone - aspirin, analgin, activated carbon, No-Spa and others. Many of us are accustomed to swallowing them without reading the instructions and for any reason. What of this “habitual set” cannot be combined with a hangover and alcohol in general?

Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) behaves very capriciously against the background of alcohol, although it is often recommended by “experts” as a sure cure for a hangover and a “blood thinner.” Thus, in relation to the elimination of pain, inflammation and fever, the effect of aspirin against the background of alcohol is enhanced. At the same time, at the level of the capillary network, these substances turn out to be antagonists: alcohol creates the prerequisites for the formation of blood clots - aspirin destroys them. But in terms of irritating effects on the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, aspirin and alcohol enhance each other - which is dangerous.

Analgin enhances the anti-inflammatory effect when taking alcohol, but at the same time the danger of the toxic effect of analgin on the bone marrow increases.

Activated carbon can be combined with alcohol without serious consequences.

“No-spa” (drotaverine) reduces the absorption of alcohol, but together with alcohol already in the blood, it enhances the relaxing effect on smooth muscles. The antidepressant effect of alcohol in the presence of “no-shpa” decreases.

What to drink after a binge and vomiting

Popular wisdom gives us a huge amount of advice and sayings to combat and prevent hangovers. This is understandable - the topic in our folklore is very topical. All advice is divided into two large groups: how to avoid a hangover and how to get rid of it.

To prevent a hangover, it is traditionally recommended to: drink within the “individual norm”, “do not mix”, “do not lower the degree” (by the way, the British have a completely opposite opinion!), eat a large snack, drink more water, etc. The effectiveness of some of the We have already looked at these recipes - think about the rest for yourself.

Recommended for getting rid of hangover: hangover (but in moderation!), brine (cucumber or cabbage), strong broth or something like “khash”, bathhouse, sauna, contrast shower, sleep, sex and physical activity. We will consider the use of special medications for this purpose and the “off-target” use of other medications separately.

“Hangover pills” and inappropriate use of medications do not help cope with withdrawal symptoms. But what to drink after a binge while vomiting is worth knowing, since this symptom can manifest itself in liver and kidney failure. Therefore, you need to drink simple clean water. As many as possible.

Due to the popularity of hangover, pharmaceutical companies could not miss such a “tidbit”, so anti-hangover drugs (they are simply “hangover pills”) are produced in a wide range by pharmaceutical companies, both ours and Western ones. They can be purchased at pharmacies and even found at supermarket checkout counters. “Miracle pills” contain different combinations of drugs aimed mainly at detoxification (removal of toxic substances). Also in their composition you can find painkillers and tonics and, heaps of vitamins. Here we will briefly look at the mechanisms of action of these drugs, as well as other drugs whose effect on a hangover will be useful to us. Further in the text, the drugs are listed in alphabetical order, and not in accordance with the degree of effectiveness.

Alka-Seltzer consists of aspirin, baking soda and citric acid.

Aspirin has an analgesic effect on hangovers, and the manufacturer honestly writes about this in the instructions. But this is a fight against symptoms, and not against the main causes of a hangover.

Baking soda helps balance the acid-base balance in the body. It also neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which reduces the harm from aspirin.

When a tablet of the drug is dissolved in water, soda in combination with citric acid gives a violent reaction, which leads to the formation of bubbles. Carbonation gives a tonic effect and increases the rate of absorption of the drug components - and therefore brings the onset of action closer. At the same time, citric acid is the only component that acts on the main cause of a hangover, joining the breakdown cycle of organic acids (Krebs cycle) and promoting the processing of toxic breakdown products of alcohol.

Recently, the manufacturer has been promoting a special version of alko-Seltzer called “Wake-up Call”, designed to relieve hangover symptoms. In addition to aspirin, it contains caffeine.

Received several responses. They write that at least something is written in the article on the merits. At least some advice. I, too, like other readers, looked through what was written on the Internet on this issue. Well, what kind of nonsense they publish.

It is immediately clear that the one who wrote has a very vague idea of what binge drinking is, why it is so difficult to stop, and naturally, what can and should be done to at least slightly alleviate his unenviable condition and restore the body. I know that only those who have experienced the delights of drunkenness can fully understand me. I read “good” advice on websites about what to do after a binge to make it easier:

"Take a hot bath." Well, not idiocy. What hot tub? Firstly, the pressure in this state is often higher than normal. So what, take a hot bath? And from the bathtub, already clean, straight to the morgue, so as not to wash it there. Shower at optimal temperature, maybe even room temperature. It somehow makes my brain brighten. This is definitely useful.

But to take a swim while coming out of a drinking binge, I will say, is on the verge of courage. And to shave and not cut yourself is simply a feat. Even if you pour water from a kettle into a glass, it’s a whole problem. In addition, the water seems so disgusting that just touching it makes you shudder. It feels like vegetable oil.

The trick is that during the “recovery”, as people call the exit from their binge, the sensations are terribly distorted. The brain gives false information in all directions. Multiplying a two-digit number by a one-digit number, for example, is very difficult. It doesn't multiply, that's all. In general, if you need to do something that requires more than two simple actions, you need to strain all your strength. When coming out of a binge, the brain becomes, in the full sense of the word, chicken-like.

When you go outside, the first thing you feel is the hostility and danger of the world. On the sidewalk you can hardly pass anyone normally, it seems that everyone is deliberately rushing right at you. It is impossible to understand which person should be avoided from which side. What people do mechanically correctly in their normal state turns out to be impossible in principle when they recover.

And crossing the road on which cars drive. This is a whole epic. I can’t figure out whether to cross or stand. Information about whether there are cars or not is not processed in the brain. Like a frozen computer. You can see the road normally, everything is clearly visible, but you can’t understand whether it’s finally possible to cross. I think this is almost impossible for a normal person to imagine.

If you are trying to read something, you can pronounce what is written, and the meaning of each individual word seems clear. But the whole sentence stubbornly refuses to be filled with meaning. What I mean by all this is to give complex advice on how to get out of binge drinking to a person who the only thing he can do is lie on the couch, flinch from sudden sounds and movements, curse everything in the world and swear.

Strong tea or coffee can also make things worse. These drinks will definitely not help you recover. They will only cause unnecessary excitement. Activated carbon, which is recommended everywhere, in my opinion, does little, although someone claims that it helps. Then it’s better to drink white coal and enterosgel. It's more effective.

Often bile collects in the stomach; if you manage to vomit it, it becomes temporarily noticeably easier. Baking soda also provides significant relief. There is no need to be afraid of it; in principle, it cannot do any harm, but will provide some benefit. There is also such a thing, picolax, it can help when you can’t go to the toilet several times.

Taking a tablet in the morning and evening for constipation will not hurt. You just need to take into account that it begins to act 6-12 hours after administration. In the morning you drank, in the evening the result and vice versa. Of course, one cannot but agree about the recommended positive emotions. It’s difficult to read when you’re tired, but TV or demotivational videos on the Internet will help you distract yourself.

The hardest thing about withdrawal is terrible fears and causeless anxiety, reaching the point of panic. Moreover, these fears are associated with everything, no matter what you think about. TV, of course, can be a distraction. I turned it on just to make something chatter. He does not allow obsessive thoughts to swirl in his head.

I also came across this stupidity, in my opinion:
“When recovering from a binge, you should not drink strong drinks, preferably weak ones, or dilute vodka with water.” What head was it taken from? I am convinced that when recovering with small doses of 30-35 grams/hour, you should only drink vodka, and not make things up. If you start diluting the vodka, you’ll be able to control how much you drink.

I tried it all. Nonsense. An important point, you need to have a little snack. Almost no matter what. Only a little. Maybe not the first glasses. But you definitely need to switch to snacking. And first get as much sleep as possible. How to achieve this? Try not to get too drunk the night before. Continue to drink, but less so that you can figure out what you are doing.

Take time, the longer the better. Maintain tone with alcohol. Then there will be at least some semblance of sleep. Hold out for, say, a day, preferably with evening ahead. And in the morning drink, well, maybe even 100 grams, after half an hour a glass of 30-35g, and that’s it, if you want to stop the nightmare, the next glass is only an hour later.

I also consider advice to listen to how you feel and catch up as needed as idiotic. The need will always be the same - to pull the glass. Therefore, strictly by the hour. And don't back down. After some time you will feel more confident. By the end of the same day for sure, or maybe in a few hours. Even if you continue in this spirit the next day, the panic horror will not return to you. In general, if you try, you can get yourself in order after a binge without nightmarish torment.

Why does this work? I answered this question in one of the responses to a reader’s comment. But since not everyone reads the comments, I’ll write here. I gave an example of a swimming pool from a school problem. Water flows into one pipe and flows out through another. The question is, how long will it take for the pool to fill?

You simply cannot exceed a certain concentration of alcohol in your blood. If alcohol does not fill your body faster than it is released from it, you will not notice how you come to your senses. I’ll tell everyone a secret that I came out of my last binges with virtually no panic or much stress.

I brought it to such perfection for myself. I don’t drink now not because I’m afraid of breaking out of the binge like before, but I simply don’t have time to deal with nonsense anymore. I still have maybe 45-50 years left to live. (Now I’m exactly 50, and I don’t plan to live more than 100 years. Just kidding. I plan, of course.). There is still a lot I want to accomplish and understand.

But if you use wine to soften and reduce the withdrawal symptoms, you can try it with diphenhydramine. The wine is real, even homemade, homemade, but not a store-bought surrogate, which is not wine. It's basically diluted vodka, just colored to look like wine. But diphenhydramine does not work that way with vodka.

Why, to be honest, I don’t know. It’s been a long time since I’ve listened to what pundits think about this, but I’m sharing what I’ve checked myself several times. I found out, thought, read, compared, and checked again. I had enough time.

Psychotherapists can help you stop drinking. And the results are usually good. I advise everyone that if you decide to stop drinking, contact a psychotherapist. Better, of course, is serious treatment with an integrated approach to the problem. The cost is almost the same as, but the effectiveness and reliability are higher.

Of the medications that really help you calm down and are compatible with alcohol, besides diphenhydramine, you can name Barboval. It can be used as an emergency remedy for severe hangover fears. True, in larger doses than what is written in the instructions. Phenibut is also praised. The thing is really worthwhile.

An additional advantage of phenibut is that it reduces cravings for alcohol. In Ukraine it is better to buy bifren, the same thing. but twice the price. I wouldn't risk it with other potent drugs. There are examples of very unpleasant personal experiences.

During binge drinking, sleep is greatly disturbed. Sometimes melatonin puts everything in its place very well. You need to drink it once a day in the evening, 1-2-3 tablets. After taking it, go to bed half an hour later.

Let me add one more point. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen. After a binge, when everything seems to be normal, attacks of acute pain in the solar plexus occur. It was as if a stake had been stuck. Most likely, it is the pancreas that reminds itself of itself. When talking about alcoholism, the liver is always remembered, but the pancreas is forgotten. And she suffers no less. So, the attacks of pain can be very strong, you get scared, well, that’s it, it’s over...

Of course, there is something to seriously think about. You can remove such pain quickly enough with baking soda. Just drink half a teaspoon of water. If you grabbed it on the street, then buy half a liter of any soda. It doesn't matter whether it's Pepsi or just water. I don't know of any faster-acting methods. All sorts of problems in this case are down to one place.

I've been meaning to add this for a long time, but I keep forgetting. Now I decided to write while I remember. About cramps... Many people are familiar, I think, when, seemingly out of the blue, a cramp grabs the caviar and no sweetness. When it’s already bad enough, and then you get a leg injury, it’s a complete finish.

For a long time I could not understand when cramps occur and what to do with them in the end, so that it is effective. As always, there is no information anywhere. So, as soon as it starts to grab, you need to pull the toe of your foot towards you, not with your hand, but simply, as if you were standing on your heels. Lets go instantly. That's the whole recipe.

And avoid pulling out the toe. Cramps in the calf muscles usually appear when the toe is extended. Therefore, they are not uncommon when swimming. By the way, it is generally useful to do such an exercise. For example, in the morning, while still lying in bed. Toe towards you, heel away from you. At least ten times with each leg.
