The drug Procto-glivenol is used as a means of conservative treatment of internal and external hemorrhoids in patients with mild and moderate severity of the disease.

In addition, the drug can be used to treat patients with severe hemorrhoids, if for some reason surgical treatment is impossible, including treatment of severe hemorrhoids that developed during pregnancy.

Mode of application

Procto-glivenol is used rectally. Before using the drug, it is recommended to wash your hands thoroughly.

Adults with acute hemorrhoids are usually prescribed 1 suppository or 1 application of cream 2 times a day (morning and evening) until acute symptoms disappear. After the clinical picture improves and pronounced clinical symptoms disappear, they switch to using 1 suppository or 1 application once a day.

Adults with internal hemorrhoids are usually prescribed the drug in the form of suppositories or cream according to the standard regimen, and the cream is recommended to be administered into the rectum using a special applicator.

Side effects

Procto-glivenol is usually well tolerated by patients; in isolated cases, when using the drug in the form of suppositories or cream, patients experienced the development of local allergic reactions, including skin itching. In isolated cases, when using the drug, patients experienced a burning sensation in the anal area.

Contraindications

• Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug;
• the drug is not prescribed to women in the first trimester of pregnancy;
• Due to the lack of reliable data on the effectiveness and safety of the drug Procto-glivenol in children, the drug is not recommended for use in pediatrics.

Pregnancy

The drug Procto-glivenol is not used during the first three months of pregnancy. In the second and third trimester, the drug Procto-glivenol can be prescribed by the attending physician if the expected benefit to the mother is higher than the potential risks to the fetus.

The drug can be used during lactation as prescribed by the attending physician.
