The use of sodium thiosulfate is effective for poisoning with arsenic, lead, mercury, hydrocyanic acid, bromine, and iodine salts.

Oral and intravenous sodium thiosulfate is prescribed for allergies, arthritis, and neuralgia.

External use of the product is indicated for scabies. The anti-scabies effect of the product is possible due to the fact that in an acidic environment, sodium thiosulfate breaks down, forms sulfur dioxide and sulfur, thereby causing the death of the scabies mite and its eggs.

Sodium thiosulfate is also used in gynecology to treat infertility, tuberculosis, and eliminate cysts in the ovary.

Contraindications

In case of poisoning, the drug is taken orally 2-3g at a time in the form of a 10% solution. Sodium thiosulfate is administered intravenously in a dosage of 5-50 ml of a 30% solution. The exact dosage depends on the severity and type of poisoning.

In case of cyanide poisoning, according to the instructions, it is recommended to combine sodium thiosulfate with sodium hyposulfite and sodium nitrite. To treat scabies, a remedy is used in the form of rubbing in a 60% sodium thiosulfate solution. Rub the solution for 2-3 minutes in turn into the left and right arms, torso, left and right legs.
