Simple and delicious cocktails at home. Recipes and types of alcoholic cocktails

On the eve of Friday, I decided to compile the TOP of the most popular alcoholic cocktails

MOJITO

One of the most popular and favorite drinks. Its history begins in the 16th century, and the “authors” are considered to be the brave English pirates, who began to add lime and mint to their favorite strong alcohol (or simply moonshine). But it is difficult to establish the place of birth, because pirates never sat in one place, but still, it is generally accepted that it was in Cuba that Mojito “began his dizzying career.” By adding such components to a strong alcoholic drink, they made the drink not only taste good, but also useful (cholera prevention). The Mojito recipes that have come down to us are almost a hundred years old. There are different variations of this mix, but the most popular remains the classic recipe, where the main ingredient is Bacardi rum.

Where does this name come from? There are several versions... The name comes from words with similar pronunciation, which are translated from different languages as “slightly wet”, “little magic”, and there is also a similar name for Cuban sauce.

So, the cocktail includes:
Bacardi 50 ml
Half a lime
Peppermint leaves (at least 5-6)
Sugar syrup
Soda (carbonated water) 50 ml.
And, of course, crushed ice.

Mojito is served in a tall glass, garnished with mint leaves and drunk through a straw.

Pina colada

A favorite of the female half of all parties. Light and rich with tropical notes, it uplifts the mood, gives a unique sensation and pleases with its unusual appearance. There are alcoholic and non-alcoholic Pina Coladas. And what is very important, both options are equally tasty - this is a valuable property of the cocktail. A drink prepared in coconut or pineapple not only looks impressive, but is also the most delicious. The name of this drink translates as “filtered pineapple” and it came to us from Puerto Rico, where fresh strained pineapple juice was originally called this, later they began to add rum to it, and even later “Pina Colada” appeared in one of the bars. It immediately gained a ton of fans, became the pride of Puerto Ricans and the official drink of the country.

The classic Pina Colada cocktail is prepared in a blender and here are its components:
Pineapple juice – 90 ml
Coconut cream – 30 ml
Light rum – 30 ml

Add ice and shake. The drink is served in a glass, garnished with a “drunk cherry” or a piece of pineapple. There may be other cocktail options.

Blue Hawaii

The unusual color makes it stand out among other alcoholic drinks. The unique color and pleasant taste will leave an unforgettable impression after tasting this cocktail. It appeared in the middle of the last century, and was invented by a bartender at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. And the reason for the “invention” was an order from an alcohol company to promote the new Blue Curacao liqueur. After several options, it was decided to settle on this composition. And the name probably appeared thanks to a hit with the same name.

The taste of this cocktail is a tropical mix combined with rum and liqueur. All these ingredients give an amazing, intoxicating taste that has become loved all over the world and glorified the exotic island.

The composition of the cocktail is as follows:
Light rum – 20 ml
Coconut liqueur (Malibu) – 20 ml
Pineapple juice – 40 ml
Blue Curacao – 20 ml

Mix all the ingredients and crushed ice thoroughly in a shaker, pour into a glass, garnish with an umbrella, an orange slice or a cherry and... Enjoy! You can drink it at any time of the day; it perfectly refreshes and tones.

Sex on the beach

A relatively young and very popular cocktail. It first appeared under the name “Sand in Shorts” in the eighties of the last century, when there were times of hippies with crazy parties on the beaches.

Now you can find it in any self-respecting bar. It is always in the top, has a bright color and pleasant taste and is quite easy to prepare. The fair sex simply adores it for its pleasant fruity taste, and the name will leave few people indifferent, because it evokes pleasant thoughts. The characters of the series “Santa Barbara” brought incredible popularity to this cocktail all over the world, because in almost every episode the characters enjoyed it.

“Sex on the Beach” has gained such wild popularity in such a short time, but for various reasons: firstly, it is very tasty, secondly, there is almost no alcohol in it, thanks to fruits and berries, and thirdly, it is easy to use cooking, even at home.

Vodka – 60ml
Peach liqueur – 30ml
Cranberry juice – 60ml
Orange juice – 60ml

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake well. Strain the drink, pour into a highball with ice, garnish with an orange slice - and there you have it, “Sex on the Beach”!

B-52

One of the most famous cocktails! It is impossible to imagine a single club party without this drink, which has conquered all continents. In the middle of the last century, this three-colored sweetish drink was created in one of the Malibu bars. It was named after the American missile-carrying bomber Boeing B-52. There are other versions of the origin of this cocktail, but the version with a bomber is still considered the most real.

It is advisable to prepare the B-52 in the presence of the guest who ordered it, firstly, in order to impress with your knowledge and skills, and, secondly, it is imperative to explain how to drink this shot.

Of course, professional bartenders will make this cocktail better, but it’s also possible at home

To prepare you will need:
Coffee liqueur (Kahlúa) – 20ml – bottom layer
Then Cream liqueur (Baileys) – 20 ml
And the top layer will be Orange liqueur (Cointreau) – 20ml

The whole difficulty lies in evenly distributing the drinks so that they do not mix. Add liqueurs using the blade of a knife or the back of a cocktail spoon. This must be done slowly and carefully. When the drink is ready, you can simply drink it, or you can set it on fire. In the second case, you need to drink through a straw, lowering it to the very bottom layer and very quickly, so that the straw does not melt, and instead of the delicious taste of B-52, you do not feel the taste of melted plastic. It is not recommended to abuse the drink, as after 3-4 servings the euphoria may end and severe intoxication may occur.

Margarita

A legendary cocktail that almost everyone knows or has at least heard of. And, naturally, there are a huge number of versions about the origin of the name, and, of course, they are all connected with a girl named Margarita. But, in any case, this chic drink was born in Latin America somewhere in the period 1935-1940. And since then, “Margarita” has been walking around the planet and is the favorite drink of millions.

If you tried this cocktail in a restaurant and became a fan of it, you can prepare it at home yourself.

The classic Margarita consists of:
30 ml tequila
30ml lime
15ml orange liqueur
And the constant companion of any cocktail is crushed ice.

All this must be mixed in a shaker, shake everything well and pour into a previously prepared glass. And the preparation of the glass is as follows: the edges of the glass must be moistened and dipped in salt so that a delicate “crown” appears, then garnish with a slice of lime.

Cosmopolitan

The International Bartenders Association recognized this cocktail in 1986, and the cult television series “Sex and the City” brought it worldwide fame. After all, every evening on television, charming beauties enjoyed Cosmopolitan. Today, at almost every party, you can see chic ladies with stylish glasses in hand. And naturally, like any such popular drink, Cosmopolitan has a mysterious origin - there are several versions, and which of them is the most truthful is unknown... One of the versions - the cocktail was created as an addition (PR - promotion) to Absolut Citron lemon-flavored vodka. This drink with a mild taste and aroma of cranberries can be tried not only in bars, but also prepared at home!

Let's take:
45ml vodka (preferably lemon flavored)

Daiquiri

n appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century in a small town on Liberty Island. His story is quite prosaic. No one could have imagined that thanks to a simple chance and the ingenuity of a young man, a legendary and beloved cocktail would be born. When the bar ran out of gin, it was necessary to treat the guests to rum, but in order to like the drink, they had to add sugar and lime juice to it. This combination created a sensation among the guests, and the world received a new wonderful drink called “Daiquiri”!

The classic recipe for this cocktail looks like this:
White rum – 45ml
Lime juice – 20ml
Sugar – 5g
Crushed ice about 100g

In a chilled shaker, mix all the ingredients, mix everything very thoroughly and pour into a cold glass. It's simple, but the taste and effect are amazing!

Cuba Libre

“Por Cuba Libre!” This is exactly the toast that American soldiers made for a free Cuba. In the post-war period, Americans began to supply bottled syrup of their favorite drink to this country. And the favorite drink of Cubans has always been rum, of which there was a huge amount on Liberty Island. The Americans mixed two favorite drinks from two different countries, added a little lime - and here it is an exotic drink that very quickly found its fans not only in Cuba, but throughout the world. And since bars often toasted to a free Cuba, the cocktail got its name! And even during the time of Prohibition, Cuba Libre not only did not lose its position, but also became one of the most popular drinks. Now there are many different versions of this cocktail, we offer you a classic recipe.

White rum – 50ml

Bloody Mary

Such a legendary cocktail cannot have one, truly known history. So, many argue that the cocktail is named after the ardent Catholic Queen of England Mary I Tudor, because for her cruel reprisals she received the nickname Bloody Mary. Another version is associated with Ernest Hemingway, a lover of strong drinks, when he returned home “in joy” his wife, whose name was Mary, made scandals for him. The writer experimentally established that the components of “Bloody Mary” perfectly “remove” the smell of fumes and there is a chance to avoid a scandal... There were several more people who claimed authorship. And yet, Fernando Pita Petiot is considered to be the official author. Initially, this drink was considered an excellent “anti-hangover” remedy.

The first official mention of this drink said that it consisted of juice and vodka. And Fernando added other components, and the recipe began to look like this:
Tomato juice – 150ml
Vodka – 75ml
Lemon juice – 15ml
Salt, pepper, celery sprig.

And if you wish, you can add three drops of Tobasco and Worcester's sauces. The cocktail is served in a highball glass, garnished with celery, and drunk through a straw. There is a variant of a “two-tier” cocktail, when the first layer is red tomato juice, and the second is vodka, but red and black pepper and salt are still added there. This option is very popular in Poland, because in appearance it resembles the country’s flag. In Russia, many people prepare this option at home.

How nice it is to drink a glass of your favorite cocktail in the evening - alcoholic or not, it doesn’t matter, it all depends on your desire and taste. I must say a huge thank you to the person who first thought of mixing several ingredients, as a result of which the first cocktail was born.

Some argue that the word “cocktail” comes from the Spanish expression cola di gallo - the tail of a rooster. This is the name given to the root of one of the plants, which was used by a bartender from the town of Campeche on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico to mix the drinks he prepared because of its external resemblance. American sailors, who never missed a single bar, loved to visit this one in Campeche. When asked what kind of instrument he had in his hands, the polite bartender answered in English: “Cocktail” - “rooster’s tail.” There is another story that connects the origin of the “cocktail” with the “rooster’s tail”. This story belongs to James Fenimore Cooper. According to him, the first cocktail was prepared in the 70s of the 18th century by the canteen of General Washington's troops, Elizabeth Flanegan. One day she served the officers a drink of rum, rye whiskey and fruit juices, decorating the glasses with feathers from the tails of fighting cocks. One of the officers, a Frenchman by birth, at the sight of such decoration of glasses, exclaimed: “Vive le cog’s tail!” ("Long live the rooster's tail!"). Everyone liked this half-French, half-English phrase, and the drink began to be called “cocktail” - rooster tail.

Today there are many recipes for all kinds of cocktails. But among them there are those that are 100 percent present in any bar in the world, be it a French restaurant or an American eatery.

In many countries, a "screwdriver" is referred to by the English word "screwdriver" (pronounced skrewdriver), which also means "screwdriver". There is a variation of this cocktail with an inverse proportion of ingredients, which is called the "drivesrewer". The first written mention of the Screwdriver cocktail appears in the American magazine Time in the issue dated October 24, 1949.

There are 2 types of mojito: low alcohol and non-alcoholic. Originating from the island of Cuba, it became popular in the United States in the 1980s. There are several theories about the origin of the name "Mojito". One says that the word comes from Spanish. Mojo (moho, mojito - diminutive). Mojo is a sauce supposedly from Cuba and the Canaries, usually it includes garlic, pepper, lemon juice, vegetable oil, and herbs. Another claims that mojito is a modified mojadito (Spanish: Mojadito, d. from mojado), which means “slightly moist.”
A mojito traditionally consists of five ingredients: rum, sugar, lime, sparkling water and mint. Its combination of sweet and refreshing citrus and mint, which may have been added to the rum to "mask" the strength of the latter, made this cocktail one of the most popular summer drinks. In 1938, he worked at the Rancho La Gloria bar in Tijuana, where the aspiring actress Margarita once dropped in. Her blond curls and heavenly beauty inspired Carlos to create the first glass of cocktail - spicy and gentle at the same time.
But there is another story that tells about the Texas aristocrat Margarita Seims. Allegedly, one year around 1948, she gave a grand reception at her villa in Acapulco. She treated her guests to a new tequila cocktail of her own invention. The guests loved it, they slowly got drunk and had fun. So everyone would have drunk and forgotten the hostess’s creation, but among the guests was Tommy Hilton, owner of the Hilton hotel chain. Tommy, as a pragmatic businessman, realized that good money could be made from the bohemian lady’s invention. A couple of days later, the cocktail appeared on the menu of bars and restaurants in his hotels. It is not known whether he shared profits from sales with Madame Seymes, but he secured her copyright in the name of the cocktail.

Sometimes Triple Sec liqueur is added to it. When preparing this drink, it is important to strictly observe the proportions. If you realize that the bartender mixed the cocktail by eye, then you have every right to be indignant and refuse to pay for the drink.
According to the rules, a cocktail should be prepared from no more than 5 different ingredients, but Long Island is an exception. It contains from 6 to 7 ingredients. A common version is that the cocktail was first invented during the years of Prohibition, as it resembles ice tea (iced tea) in appearance and aroma. However, the cocktail is believed to have been first created in the 1970s by Chris Bendixen, a nightclub bartender in Smithtown, Long Island.

Tom Collins

This classic cocktail dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. Although no one will say about its exact origin, we do know that it was invented by a bartender named Collins at the famous Limmers Hotel in London. The original recipe used Dutch juniper berry spirit, similar to gin. Ultimately, this ingredient was replaced by the sweeter London dry gin, Old Tom, hence the name Tom Collins. In fact, the name "Collins" is now used for a variety of other cocktails that are made with soda, sugar syrup, lemon juice and a spirit ingredient. In the USA, the John Collins cocktail is made with Bourbon whiskey instead of gin. Other drinks called Collins are mixed using brandy, rum or Scotch whiskey. This cocktail is refreshing, stylish, elegant, with a rich palette of flavors: simply created to be enjoyed in sophisticated company by the pool.

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml dry London gin
  • 30 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sugar syrup
  • 90 ml soda

What to do: Fill the shaker halfway with ice. Add gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup. Shake well. Strain through a strainer into a tall glass half filled with ice and carefully top with soda. Stir gently to contain bubbles. Garnish with a cherry in liqueur or a slice of lemon, which can be placed directly into the drink or on the rim of the glass.

And one more cocktail, which also occupies a leading place in all bars and restaurants in the world.

Daiquiri

This cocktail is believed to be of Cuban origin. It contains lime juice, rum and syrup. In casinos, the most popular varieties of this cocktail are “Derby Daiquiri”, “Peach Daiquiri”, “Banana Daiquiri”, etc. Fruit pulp is added to them. The drink was invented in the town of Daiquiri at the beginning of the twentieth century. In 1896, a certain Jennings Cox (American mining engineer), cursing the heat, mixed the above-mentioned rum with lime juice for himself and his friends, and not just mixed, but poured these ingredients onto ice cubes. This is how the Daiquiri cocktail turned out. Ernest Hemingway promoted this invention in his novels; he was a big fan of this drink. And in 1893, during the celebration of Cuba's independence, an American army officer raised a toast to a free Cuba by mixing Bacardi rum, symbolizing Cuba's free spirit, with Coca-Cola, America's new drink. The slogan of those days was “Long live free Cuba!” forever preserved in the name of the Cuba Libre cocktail.
The Daiquiri's popularity skyrocketed when Francis Scott Fitzgerald mentioned it in his book Beyond Paradise, published in 1920. In an episode warning about drinking rum in moderation, a group of characters each order a double daiquiri as a harbinger of the "intoxicating evening" which ends in hallucinations.

Ingredients:

6/10 Bacardi or Havana Club white rum
3/10 lemon or lime juice
1/10 sugar syrup

What to do:
Pour ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake for 10 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass. You can get a Pink Daiquiri by adding a few drops of Grenadine.

A cocktail is usually called a drink, which by the way is not necessarily alcoholic, and contains several liquids at once. A distinctive feature of such drinks is their unique taste and the fact that when consumed they do not give such an intoxicating effect that a person loses the ability to control his actions.

Cocktails have a slight relaxing effect on the body, which is why they are so popular at parties in European nightclubs. So if you suddenly decide to arrange a get-together with friends at your dacha, then cocktails will help you create a warm, cozy atmosphere and at the same time avoid problems with drunken comrades.

Making cocktails at home is not at all difficult. I will tell you what recipes you can use for inexpensive alcoholic cocktails at home to prepare the most popular, widely known throughout the world, and completely unknown, but no less tasty drinks.

Mojito

For example, here is one of the most popular alcoholic cocktails, born in Cuba and conquering the whole world - Mojito. To prepare it, take a capacious glass, pour 2 teaspoons of sugar into its bottom and squeeze out the juice of half a lime, which can be replaced with not too sour lemon.

In principle, this should be enough for the sugar to dissolve completely. The remaining rinds with the remaining pulp after squeezing are also placed in a glass along with a few mint leaves. Then throw a few not very large pieces of ice into a glass and pour in 150 ml of soda water and 60 ml of white Cuban rum - the specific brand does not matter. The mojito is ready and all that remains is to decorate the glass by hooking a slice of lemon or lime onto its rim.

You can make a non-alcoholic mojito in the same way, but you will need to exclude the rum from its composition. This will hardly change the taste, and the drink will perfectly quench your thirst and give you energy, so in the summer heat it will be simply irreplaceable.

Margarita

Another cocktail originally from Latin America is no less popular all over the world – Margarita. The main ingredient in it is tequila, 60 ml of which is mixed with 40 ml of any citrus liqueur and 20 ml of freshly squeezed lime juice. Shake all this in a shaker for 10 seconds so that the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. If you don’t have a shaker, you can, of course, use a regular glass, but it will be difficult to mix drinks properly in it.

Margarita is served in a large glass, which is decorated with sea salt. This is done simply. The salt is poured onto a flat plate, the top edge of the glass is slightly moistened and briefly immersed in the salt. Then ice is placed in the glass and the contents of the shaker are poured out.

Although, as already mentioned, any citrus liqueur is suitable for a margarita, the most delicious cocktail is obtained using Triple Sec or Cointreau.

For those with a sweet tooth, here is a recipe for strawberry margarita. In this case, all ingredients and their ratio are preserved, but before mixing, 2-3 crushed strawberries are added to the shaker. Naturally, the salt in the strawberry margarita is replaced with sugar.

Orange cocktail

For those who find such cocktail recipes difficult to prepare, we and the editors of the site www.. Among the very inexpensive cocktails, for example, an orange alcoholic cocktail, for the preparation of which equal amounts of good vodka, orange liqueur, orange and lemon juice are mixed in a glass with ice . The standard amount of all ingredients is 20 ml.

After mixing, everything is poured into a cocktail glass, where 100 ml of champagne is added. The most spectacular stage of cocktail preparation begins when it is sprinkled with powdered sugar. The chemical reaction causes the liquid to foam, so you have to be very careful not to let it overflow.

Bim-bom

The Bim-bom cocktail is prepared in approximately the same way, only in a shaker and the composition of the ingredients is slightly different from the previous recipe. So, instead of ice, mix 20 ml of vodka, cherry liqueur and lemon juice in a shaker. Place several orange and lemon slices at the bottom of the glass, then pour the contents of the shaker into it and add 100 ml of champagne.

Bim-bom and orange cocktail can be prepared in a low-alcohol version - champagne is replaced with sparkling water.
