Inhalipt is an antibacterial spray developed and produced in the USSR since 1969. This is one of the oldest local antiseptics for the throat.

Currently, a drug with an identical composition and name is produced by 6 pharmaceutical manufacturers in Russia. Let's look at the instructions for using Ingalipt spray, and also summarize the reviews of patients who have used it.

Composition and form of Inhalipt in the form of an aerosol

Inhalipt is produced by various manufacturers in the form of an aerosol with a volume of 15, 20 and 30 ml. The release form does not affect the antiseptic activity of the drug, which is determined by the following components:

  • sulfathiazole;
  • thymol;
  • eucalyptus oil;
  • mint oil.

Auxiliary components of the spray:

  • alcohol;
  • glycerol;
  • sweetener;
  • water;
  • stabilizer.

The drug contains nitrogen as a propellant, which creates pressure in the cylinder.

The instructions for using Ingalipt aerosol draw attention to the fact that the medicine has a pronounced menthol taste.

Instructions for use of Ingalipt spray for adults

Inhalipt aerosol is sprayed by pressing the spray tip. The drug is sprayed in small doses, i.e. as long as finger pressure is applied. The bottle is equipped with a removable spray tube for more convenient application of the drug to the throat mucosa.

Follow the instructions for using Inhalipt:

  1. Rinse your mouth and throat with water.
  2. If there is plaque on the mucous membrane (purulent, necrotic) that cannot be removed with water, it should be removed with a cotton swab.
  3. Remove the cap from the bottle.
  4. Place the spray nozzle from the product kit onto the valve stem.
  5. Hold the can vertically, bottom down.
  6. Insert the spray tube into your mouth and direct it to the area to be treated.
  7. Press and hold the spray nozzle for up to 2 seconds.
  8. Remove the tube from your mouth.
  9. Remove the spray tip, blow it out, or place it in a glass of water.

After spraying the medicine, you should avoid drinking liquid or food for 20 minutes.

Apply the drug to the mucous membrane of the throat 3 times a day - every 8 hours.

Ingalipt for children

In accordance with the instructions for use, Ingalipt spray is indicated for children with bacterial respiratory infections.

The spraying algorithm is similar to that described above for adults.

There is no such thing as childhood inhalipt. When spraying the drug, children should use a standard bottle, but reduce the time they press the spray nozzle to 1 second.

Spraying frequency is three times a day.

From what age can it be used?

Instructions for use of Ingalipt spray limit the use of the product to those aged 3 years. This restriction is largely formal in nature and applies to all throat aerosols.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers who compose instructions for their drugs do not take responsibility for use in children. This is explained by the fact that before releasing a drug onto the market, it is tested on animals and humans, and the consequences of using a particular product, including those delayed over time, are analyzed. However, for certain categories of patients, which include children and pregnant women, such tests are not carried out for obvious reasons.

However, children under 3 years of age need to be treated with something. Ingalipt throat spray is superior in its antibacterial effectiveness. Some 20-30 years ago, pediatricians prescribed sulfonamide drugs very often. Today - much less frequently, but the spray in question continues to be attributed to children, including those under 3 years of age.

How to use for children under 1 year of age

In all likelihood, for children under one year old, Ingalipt is not the best choice. The drug has a pronounced menthol taste, which, in most cases, causes a negative reaction in infants. Moms should look for an alternative: today there are tasteless and odorless antiseptics on sale.

As a general rule, for infants the spray is sprayed “behind the cheek” or on the nipple. You can use the natural curiosity of a baby, who at this age has the habit of putting everything in his mouth, to your advantage. The spray wand tends to be of interest to children.

Application for children 1, 2, 3 years old

In connection with the question of whether Ingalipt is suitable for children under 3 years of age, it should be noted that sulfonamides are absorbed from the mucous membrane, bind to blood proteins in small quantities, and have not only a local, but also a systemic effect.

Systemic exposure allows you to better fight microorganisms and prevent further development of the infectious process. This is of fundamental importance when we are talking about one-year-old children, as well as children aged 2 and 3 years, because respiratory infections during this period develop sharply, rapidly, and are fraught with complications.

Provided the child reacts calmly to the menthol taste, this drug is the right choice for the treatment of respiratory infections.

Ingalipt during pregnancy 1st, 2nd, 3rd trimester

Sulfonamides are contraindicated during pregnancy in any trimester.

Instructions for use of Ingalipt inform consumers that up to 14% of streptocide and up to 55% of sulfathiazole enter the systemic bloodstream and pass through the placenta.

They undergo transformation and are excreted by the kidneys. The half-life, i.e. the time during which the pharmacological effect of the drug remains practically unchanged is 10 hours for streptocide, and up to 2 hours for sulfathiazole.

When breastfeeding

What does Inhalipt help with?

Indications for the use of Inhalipt are respiratory diseases of bacterial causes:

  • inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa;
  • tonsillitis;
  • inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa.

In addition, the spray is indicated for the treatment of bacterial inflammation of the oral mucosa.

The duration of treatment with the drug should not exceed 10 days.

For sore throat

Inhalipt does not contain painkillers in its composition. The vegetable oils included in the preparation have a mild anti-inflammatory effect. Additionally, mint creates a refreshing effect, due to which, after spraying the aerosol, the severity of pain in the throat is reduced.

When coughing

It should be kept in mind that a cough is often a symptom of a viral infection, including the main symptom of the flu. Inhalipt is not effective for respiratory disease caused by a virus. Sulfonamides only affect bacterial cells.

When coughing, especially if it is accompanied by a rise in body temperature and is not accompanied by a runny nose, it is advisable to start treatment with antiviral drugs. In most cases, immunomodulation allows you to cope with a viral attack and prevent bacterial complications. This means that, if we talk about adults, the use of Ingalipt cough spray is most often not justified.

The situation is fundamentally different for children. The infectious process develops rapidly: a viral infection can become complicated by a bacterial infection in the morning by lunchtime. This means that for respiratory symptoms in children, antibacterial therapy should begin as early as possible at the first signs of illness.

Ingalipt for sore throat

  • stabilizes cellular structures;
  • promotes regenerative processes;
  • relieves swelling;
  • has a mild analgesic effect.

Ingalipt does not have all of these advantages. In general, we can say that Tantum Verde is better, but also much more expensive.

Miramistin or Ingalipt

Of course, Miramistin is an antiseptic today that has earned the title of the best.

Advantages of Miramistin:

  • neutral taste and smell;
  • high efficiency, including effects on microorganisms resistant to other agents;
  • approved for use by pregnant women and children;
  • does not cause irritation.

The lack of menthol taste makes it a product that can be used without problems even by the youngest children.

The cost of Miramistin is comparable to the price of Ingalipt when comparing bottles of the same volume.

Ingalipt or Lugol

The active ingredient of Lugol's is iodine, which has a bactericidal effect (i.e., leads to the death of microbial cells). Let us remember that sulfonamides act bacteriostatically.

Iodine is a substance that the body requires in minimal quantities. The use of iodine is safer than sulfonamides.

At the same time, Lugol often causes a burning sensation at the site of application and has a very specific taste and smell.

What is best is for the patient to choose. However, it is a fact that Lugol is cheaper and no less effective.

Condition for dispensing from the pharmacy: Without a prescription

Compound

Per thirty milliliters of aerosol in a can there are 0.75 g of liquid norsulfazole and sulfonamide, 0.015 g of eucalyptus and peppermint oils and thymol, 2.1 g of glycerin, 1.5 g of sugar, 0.9 Tween (as an emulsifier), 1, 8 ml of ethyl alcohol, the rest is distilled water and nitrogen gas.

Medicinal properties

Sulfanilamide (white soluble streptocide) and sodium norsulfazole actively affect the lesion. They enter the protein of the microbial cell, where they displace para-aminobenzoic acid, which is a condition for metabolism. The microbe dies. Streptocide is eliminated from the body in 20 hours, and norsulfazole in 3. Additional substances of plant origin (mint, thymol and eucalyptus) have an antiseptic, cooling and calming effect.

Indications for use

It is advisable that Inhalipt be prescribed by a therapist. It should be taken for diseases of the nasopharynx and larynx: sore throat, laryngitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis. But with the same success it treats ulcers and stomatitis (including aphthous) in the oral cavity.

Average price from 50 to 120 rubles.

“Ingalipt” aerosol and “Ingalipt” spray

“Inhalipt” aerosol is supplied in aluminum cans with a capacity of 30 ml. Its spraying occurs under gas pressure and is uncontrollable in volume.

“Inhalipt” spray comes in 20 ml glass bottles with a dispenser - the amount of medicine can be strictly controlled.

The drug is a liquid with a yellowish tint. After use, an aftertaste with the aroma of mint and thyme is felt.

The average price is from 50 to 80 rubles.

Methods of application

Both forms are convenient for local spray application. The medications taken for the nasopharynx and oral cavity are somewhat different. In both cases, it is necessary to rinse your throat or mouth with boiled water. But in the nasopharynx, the dispersion flow is directed directly to the inflamed area, while in the mouth the medicine can be retained (about 5 minutes).

You need to spray 3-4 times a day, but the treatment time should not exceed one week.

Treatment of young children is carried out in a special way, since “Inhalipt” for children 1-3 years old is dangerous because, in addition to allergies, it can cause laryngospasm (stop breathing). For a child after 1 year, if there are no other analogue drugs, but treatment is needed, for a sore throat it is given as follows: drop on the tip of the tongue; if nothing unusual happens, apply it to the cheek, and from it, due to saliva, the product gradually penetrates into the throat. You can do it not by the cheek, but on the tip of the nipple.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

It is categorically not recommended to use “Inhalipt” during pregnancy during the first trimester, and during the second and third trimester it is not recommended unless absolutely necessary. But it is safer not to use Inhalipt at all during pregnancy.

It is also undesirable for mothers to use Inhalipt when breastfeeding due to possible negative consequences. Some doctors believe that the drug is not absorbed into the blood, and milk does not contain it during lactation. But it is better to interrupt breastfeeding when taking medication during lactation.

Contraindications

Allergies, changes in taste, other side effects, as well as increased sensitivity to individual ingredients are a signal that the body does not accept the medicine.

Interaction with other drugs

No chemical reactions or inhibitory (increasing effects) properties were found with other drugs, so it can be taken in combination with other necessary medications.

Side effects

Not always and not for everyone, taking the drug goes without leaving a trace. Side effects may occur, such as:

  • Allergies with itching and skin rashes
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Impaired sense of taste.

Overdose

The same consequences are observed in case of drug poisoning. To make things better, you need to cleanse your gastrointestinal tract. Any of these methods are suitable: artificial vomiting, gastric lavage, saline laxatives, enemas, as well as symptomatic treatment to combat specific signs of individual manifestations of poisoning.

Conditions and shelf life

Keep the medicine away from children. The air temperature should not exceed 25°C. After 3 years of storage, the drug is not used and is destroyed.

Analogues

These are not exactly analogues; their active group is different. They are similar in method of application and results of exposure. These include:

“Kameton”

Pharmstandard-Leksredstva OJSC, Russia, etc.

“Cameton” contains chlorobutanol with a powerful analgesic function. “Cameton” does not treat stomatitis, but copes with rhinitis.

  • Efficacy in the initial stages of treatment
  • Cheapness of the drug

“Tantum Verde”

A.K.R.A.F. S.p.A., Italy

In “Tantum Verde” the main active ingredient is benzydamine, which is why “Tantum” easily reaches the site of inflammation through the mucous membranes.

  • For Tantum Verde, pregnancy in all trimesters and breastfeeding are not contraindications
  • Effectively relieves pain
  • “Tantum Verde” has somewhat low injection pressure - you have to press it several times.

“Hexoral”

Famar Orleans, France

“Hexoral” has hexetidine as the main active ingredient with an antiseptic effect, and essential oils of mint, anise, and cloves as an antimicrobial agent.

  • The effectiveness of Hexoral is high - it copes with germs, fungi and colds.
  • It is undesirable to use Hexoral as a children's drug due to the high content of ethyl alcohol.

Lugs: eucalyptus lugol for throat

Iodine-based preparations are widely known antiseptics. They have found their application in ENT practice. For a long time, doctors recommended Lugol's solution for treating the mucous membrane, but the pharmaceutical industry introduced a more convenient and advanced medication in terms of dosage form and composition - Lugs. Anyone who wants to get acquainted with information about it should look at the instructions.

Characteristics

Eucalyptus Lugol - this is also the name of the drug. And this is due to its composition. The active ingredient is free iodine, which is found in a concentration of 0.01%. Among the auxiliary ingredients, it is necessary to highlight potassium iodide, eucalyptus tincture, glycerin and purified water. The medicinal solution has a red-brown color and a specific odor (iodine-eucalyptus). The drug is available in the form of a spray - in a 20 ml bottle equipped with a spray nozzle.

Action

Lugs belongs to the antiseptic group of drugs. Iodine has a detrimental effect on various bacteria (both gram-positive and gram-negative):

It has a bactericidal effect by destroying the proteins of the cell membrane of microbes. Thanks to the elimination of the infectious agent, the pathological reactions initiated by it are suspended, and recovery is approaching. And the inclusion of eucalyptus in the composition provides additional antibacterial, disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Distribution in the body

The drug is sprayed onto the mucous membranes, but part of it is swallowed and absorbed into the bloodstream. Systemic absorption is negligible. Excretion occurs in various ways: with urine, feces, milk, and sweat glands.

Indications

As an antiseptic, Lugs is widely used in the practice of ENT doctors and dentists. The scope of use of the drug is the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases with damage to the mucous membranes and tonsils:

That is, we are talking only about local pathological processes of the pharynx and oral cavity. The drug is not suitable for mucous membranes of other localizations and skin.

Lugs is an iodine-based antiseptic with the addition of eucalyptus tincture in spray form. This allows it to be used for infections of the pharynx and oral cavity.

Application

Only a doctor can prescribe eucalyptus Lugol. And although it can be freely purchased at a pharmacy without a prescription, no self-medication should be allowed. First, a diagnosis must be made first. And secondly, therapy cannot be limited to just an antiseptic. Therefore, you still have to see a doctor.

Method of use

Lugs is intended for irrigation of the mucous membrane. Before the first use, you need to turn the nozzle up and press the dispenser several times so that the solution enters the sprayer. For diseases of the pharynx, it is inserted into the mouth, covered with the lips, breathing is held, and two pressures are made: one irrigation on the right, and the second on the left. Lugs is used once or twice a day. The course of treatment is determined by the doctor individually.

Side effects

It must be remembered that iodine has an irritating effect on the mucous membrane. When using it, side effects are possible in the form of allergic reactions (swelling, itching, redness, rash), which require discontinuation of the drug. As the instructions indicate, Lugs throat spray with long-term treatment can lead to systemic reactions in the form of so-called iodism:

  • Metallic taste in the mouth.
  • Increased salivation.
  • Swelling of the larynx and eyes.
  • Dyspeptic disorders.
  • Skin rashes.
  • Pulmonary edema.

Such phenomena are observed in case of overdose if a large amount of solution is swallowed. In such cases, symptomatic correction is carried out, which consists of gastric lavage, taking sorbents, drinking milk and sodium thiosulfate.

When using iodine-based medications, it is worth considering the risk of negative effects on the body. However, this most often occurs when the doctor’s recommendations are violated.

Restrictions

Treatment must be not only effective, but also safe. Therefore, iodine-based antiseptics should be used only after excluding concomitant diseases or other factors that could affect the final result.

Contraindications

No disease can be treated without taking into account contraindications. For the drug Lugs, the instructions contain mention of the following conditions that require monitoring when examining the patient:

  1. Individual intolerance.
  2. Hyperfunction of the thyroid gland.
  3. Severe renal and heart failure.
  4. Treatment with radioactive iodine (or diagnostics using it).
  5. Pregnancy and lactation period.
  6. Children's age (up to 8 years).

The drug is used with caution in patients with inflammation of the larynx (risk of laryngospasm), tuberculosis and hemorrhagic diathesis.

Interaction

Interactions with other substances and medications are also important when prescribing treatment. Lugs cannot be combined with other antiseptics. In addition, iodine is not compatible with essential oils and ammonia.

Lugs is a preparation containing iodine and eucalyptus tincture. Thanks to this combination, an increase in the antiseptic effect is observed, which is important in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory pathologies of the pharynx and oral cavity. But patients taking the drug on their own may experience various unpleasant phenomena. Only a doctor can provide safe and effective therapy.

The manufacturer is great after all.

A good time-tested medicine. Helps well in the early stages of the disease. When I started my sore throat and purulent ulcers formed in my throat, Ingalipt could not cope with them. I really don’t like the taste; it always makes my face warp. When I treated my daughter for the first time, I thought the roar was about to start, and I prepared for half an hour of consolation. And she liked it and asks for more :)

The manufacturer is great after all.

Inhalipt

Latin name: Inhalypt

Active ingredient: Essential oils

(eucalyptus, peppermint) + thymol +

Manufacturer: Vips-Med Pharma,

Pharmstandard OJSC, Altaivitamins, Russia, etc.

Condition for dispensing from the pharmacy: Without a prescription

Composition of the drug

Per thirty milliliters of aerosol in a can there are 0.75 g of liquid norsulfazole and sulfonamide, 0.015 g of eucalyptus and peppermint oils and thymol, 2.1 g of glycerin, 1.5 g of sugar, 0.9 Tween (as an emulsifier), 1, 8 ml of ethyl alcohol, the rest is distilled water and nitrogen gas.

Pharmacological properties of the drug

Sulfanilamide (white soluble streptocide) and sodium norsulfazole actively affect the lesion. They enter the protein of the microbial cell, where they displace para-aminobenzoic acid, which is a condition for metabolism. The microbe dies. Streptocide is eliminated from the body in 20 hours, and norsulfazole in 3. Additional substances of plant origin (mint, thymol and eucalyptus) have an antiseptic, cooling and calming effect.

Indications for use of the drug

Methods of using the drug

Analogues of Ingalipt

Effective sprays and aerosols for sore throat

For people prone to respiratory diseases, throat sprays have long become a must-have medicine in the home medicine cabinet.

30 years ago, the Soviet pharmaceutical industry offered consumers only Kameton for the treatment of throat inflammation. Today in pharmacies you can find 2 dozen types of throat sprays and choose the one that is most suitable in terms of action and price.

Advantages of throat sprays

A spray or aerosol is a form of medicine that allows you to spray it directly onto the desired areas. Actually this is the advantage of this dosage form. Sprays allow you to apply the drug to those places that are considered difficult to reach in everyday life: on the back of the throat, on the tonsils

Theoretically, the visible part of the throat mucosa can be lubricated with the medicine using a small cotton swab. This is done, for example, if the required drug is not produced in the form of a spray. However, firstly, this procedure is not the most pleasant. Secondly, it takes time and is more labor intensive. The advent of drugs in spray form has greatly facilitated the local application of drugs for sore throats.

When should you use throat sprays?

Throat sprays come in the following types:

  • Antiseptics (local antibiotic);
  • immunomodulators;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • combined with an anesthetic.

Rules and method of using aerosols

  • Before spraying the spray on the mucous membrane of the throat, it is advisable to take 2-3 sips of water.
  • When using, the aerosol bottle is held vertically with the bottom down.
  • Depending on the characteristics of the spray system, the release nozzle is pressed once (metered spray) or held down while independently dispensing the drug (non-metered spray).
  • After applying the spray to the mucous membrane of the throat, you should refrain from drinks and food.

List of popular and effective sprays

Hexoral

Antibiotic throat spray - Hexoral - is produced by a French manufacturer. Peculiarities:

  • The active ingredient – hecatidine – is effective against bacteria, fungi and viruses;
  • comfortable long nozzle;
  • allowed for use during pregnancy (with caution in the 1st trimester);
  • safe for children.

An important advantage of the drug: due to the enveloping effect, the effect lasts for a long time, which allows you to take the medicine no more than 2 times a day.

Inhalipt

A domestically produced drug based on a sulfonamide antibiotic – streptocide. Indicated for sore throat, laryngitis, bacterial pharyngitis. Streptocide is a very old antibiotic. During its use, some bacterial strains have become resistant to it.

The advantages of Inhalipt include, first of all, its low cost.

Derinat

A Russian-made immunomodulatory drug based on sodium deoxyribonucleate.

Derinat stimulates the immune system:

  • Increases the body's resistance to infections;
  • the immune response to viral, bacterial and fungal antigens improves;

In addition to immunostimulating, the drug has a complex effect:

  • Anti-inflammatory;
  • antitumor;
  • antiallergic;
  • detoxifying;
  • antioxidant.

Like all immunomodulators, Derinat is a fairly expensive medicine.

Iodinol

Traditionally, iodine is used as an antiseptic. And although, as a rule, its main purpose is external treatment of the skin, local application on the throat mucosa also shows itself to be no less effective than modern antibacterial substances.

The undoubted advantage of Iodinol is the safety of its use (with a short course in compliance with the dosage) in contrast to other antiseptics, the side effects of which are not yet fully known.

There are also disadvantages: restrictions on use in children, pregnant and lactating women, and thyroid diseases. Before use, consult a doctor.

A little-known Czech-made drug. Has a complex effect:

  • Antiseptic (iodine, alcohol);
  • anti-inflammatory (allantoin).

Contains a mild analgesic component - levomenthol.

Active against bacteria, fungi, viruses.

Kameton

A drug based on chlorobutanol is well known to Russian patients. Also includes:

The last two components give the preparation a specific minty-bitter taste.

In addition, the spray has an anesthetic and refreshing effect.

Cameton is one of the most affordable aerosol remedies for the treatment of pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and laryngitis.

Lugol

Lugol's spray is another throat spray with iodine. Main characteristics:

  • Has a specific iodine odor;
  • has a bactericidal effect;
  • effective against fungi;
  • contraindicated during pregnancy.

The undoubted advantage of Lugol is its moderate price, which, when compared with iodine-containing Yox, is 3 times lower.

Spray Maxicold Lore

A Russian-made drug that competes with the French Hexoral and the Czech Stopangin.

Advantages of Maxicold spray:

  • effective antiseptic based on hexethidine;
  • has an enveloping effect, due to which the active substance remains on the mucous membrane for a long time
  • reasonable price compared to similar products.

Miramistin

Miramistin, perhaps, can be considered one of the best antiseptic throat sprays. Has activity against:

  • Bacteria, including resistant strains;
  • fungi, including those resistant to chemotherapy;
  • viruses, including influenza, herpes, HIV, etc.

Positive aspects of the drug:

  • There is no taste or smell;
  • well tolerated by patients;
  • approved for use in pregnant, lactating women and children;
  • very reasonable cost.

Novosept

A unique drug from a Dutch pharmaceutical company that has no analogues in composition. Contains 3 active ingredients that have a complex effect:

  • Broad-spectrum antiseptic;
  • anesthetic;
  • immunomodulatory.

Novosept is an effective throat spray with an antibiotic. However, it also has consumer disadvantages:

  • Contraindicated in certain categories of patients;
  • interacts with a number of drugs, incl. with separate ones - incompatible;
  • must be applied every 2 hours;
  • often causes irritation of the mucous membrane.

Novosept is a spray for treating the throat in adults; it is contraindicated in children.

Anti-angina

Close to Novosept in its pharmacological properties is another Dutch-made spray - Anti-angina. It contains not 3, but 2 active ingredients that have:

  • antiseptic effect (chlorhexidine);
  • anesthetic effect (tetracaine).

Unlike Novosept, Antiangin does not have a local immunomodulatory effect, which is why it may be somewhat less effective in some patients. However, the cost of Antiangin is lower, which makes it more accessible.

An Italian-made drug based on ketoprofen. When applied topically, it has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Does not contain antiseptics: it does not fight the cause of respiratory disease, but only relieves painful symptoms: sore throat, swelling of the mucous membrane. Like all anti-inflammatory drugs, it masks the infectious process. For this reason, it is not the drug of choice for infectious diseases of the throat and can only be used as an additional remedy.

The medicine has numerous contraindications, incl. periods of pregnancy and lactation.

Octenisept

Antibacterial throat spray Octenisept is produced by a German pharmaceutical company in the form of a solution for topical use. The bottle is equipped with a spray nozzle. The antiseptic effect is caused by two substances:

It has good antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal activity. Can be used by all groups of patients without restrictions.

Propolis

Propolis spray is a Russian-made homeopathic remedy based on the waste product of bees. Has wound-healing and antimicrobial effects. Propolis contains microelements and amino acids: it has a slight immunostimulating effect.

Ambassador

Another product based on propolis. It contains a standard that gives the spray antiseptic properties. The main effect of Proposol is regenerative. The main area of application is diseases of the oral mucosa, accompanied by violations of its integrity (wounds, ulcers, bleeding). For throat diseases, it is not the drug of choice, but can be used as an additional remedy.

Stopangin

Aerosol Stopangin is a direct analogue of Hexoral discussed above. Belongs to the list of effective sprays for sore throats with an antibiotic. Also effective as a spray for laryngitis in adults and children. It has no special contraindications. Can be used at any age, provided that the child can hold his breath when spraying the product.

Strepsils Plus

Strepsils Plus anesthetic throat spray is produced by Dutch and British manufacturers.

Composition and action:

  • The antiseptic complex amylmetacresol + dichlorobenzyl alcohol has good activity against bacteria, viruses and fungi;
  • lidocaine provides a pronounced anesthetic effect;
  • Levomenthol and mint oil help prolong the analgesic effect.

The drug is contraindicated in children, pregnant women and during breastfeeding.

Tantum Verde

An Italian-made drug based on benzydamine (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). Has an antiseptic effect, incl. prevents the reproduction of fungi. Indicated for inflammatory diseases of the throat, including children over 3 years of age, pregnant and lactating women.

Hexasprey

The French antiseptic Hexasprey, despite containing ethyl alcohol, has proven itself in the treatment of both children and adults. The secret of this medication is its constituent biclotymol, which, in addition to the direct antimicrobial effect characteristic of all throat antiseptics, has an additional effect:

The complex effect of Hexasprey makes it one of the best and effective drugs for the treatment of pharyngitis, along with such a favorite spray as Tantum Verde.

Theraflu LAR

The Swiss-made aerosol contains:

Theraflu LAR destroys the microbial wall, causing the death of bacteria, viruses and fungi. The spray has a pronounced analgesic effect, supported by menthol and mint oil included in its composition.

Chlorophyllipt

Chlorophyllipt spray is produced in Ukraine. Its active ingredient is eucalyptus extract. Demonstrates highly targeted antimicrobial activity: destroys staphylococci. The mechanism of action on microbes is not completely clear, but the instructions for use indicate that even antibiotic-resistant species of staphylococci are sensitive to Chlorophyllipt.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus (as Eucalyptus rodentum leaf extract or oil) is contained as a main or excipient in some of the sprays discussed above:

Orasept

Spray made in Greece based on phenol. This drug is not registered in the Russian Federation, but is sold, for example, in Ukraine and in many other countries.

Whether to be treated with phenol or not is a matter of individual choice. However, it should be borne in mind that this substance is toxic not only to bacteria, but also to humans. Phenol is absorbed by the mucous membrane and enters the systemic circulation.

However, judging by the reviews, Opasept spray is effective in suppressing the bacterial microflora of the pharynx and oral cavity and can be used for all infectious respiratory diseases.

Antibiotic throat sprays

Antibiotics are included in most throat antiseptics:

  • Hexoral, Stopangin (hexetidine);
  • Inhalipt (streptocide);
  • Yox, Lugol (iodine);
  • Cameton (chlorobutanol);
  • Miramistin (benzyldimethyl);
  • Novosept (cetylpyridinium chloride);
  • Octenisept (octenidine + phenoxyethanol);
  • Strepsils (amylmetacresol + dichlorobenzyl alcohol);
  • Theraflu (benzoxonium chloride).

Pain relieving throat sprays

Sprays for sore throat with a pronounced anesthetic effect:

  • Strepsils, Theraflu (lidocaine);
  • OKI (ketoprofen);
  • Novosept forte (tetracaine).

Sprays for sore throat with a mild analgesic effect, including for children:

Throat sprays for children

All aerosols can be divided into those that are contraindicated for children due to their composition, and those that are permitted. Approved drugs, despite the restrictions specified in the instructions for them, can be used at any age. Pediatricians and ENT doctors often prescribe medications based on this rule.

The main requirement is that the child must:

  • Understand the meaning of the procedure;
  • be able to hold your breath;
  • do not be afraid of inserting the spray tube into your mouth;
  • Spraying of the drug is well tolerated.

List of children's throat sprays (approved for use by children):

Sprays for newborns and children up to one year old

Aerosol-type sprays are not allowed to be used by children in the first year of life. If they enter the respiratory tract - larynx, trachea, bronchi - any finely dispersed medicinal suspension, in contact with the mucous membrane, can cause spasm. As a result, the air ducts narrow, up to complete blockage and the impossibility of breathing.

In exceptional cases, if there are indications for this, children under 1 year of age can use sprays with a mechanical sprayer with caution. With this method of spraying, the medicine is released in larger particles, which settle on the mucous membrane of the mouth and pharynx and do not penetrate the lower respiratory tract.

Sprays for children 1, 2, 3 years old

Miramistin and Octenisept can be used with caution in children under 3 years of age.

If the child can hold his breath when spraying the medicine, the following aerosols can be used:

Throat sprays for pregnant women

Aerosols act locally. Active substances, as a rule, are not absorbed by the mucous membrane, do not penetrate into the blood and do not affect the fetus. The exception is aerosols with an anesthetic component, which are certainly contraindicated during pregnancy.

What throat sprays can pregnant women use:

Sprays for sore throat, laryngitis and sinusitis

All antiseptics discussed in this review are indicated for angina in adults and children. They are also effective for laryngitis.

Universal sprays with antibiotics for sinusitis - Kameton, Ingalipt. However, people with chronic sinusitis, as a rule, review them as ineffective remedies. In all likelihood, this is due to the fact that the bacteria have become resistant to these antiseptics. There are more convenient nasal sprays with antibiotics for sinusitis: Isofra, Polydexa.

Cheap and effective sprays

The optimal throat spray in terms of price and effectiveness is Miramistin.

Other cheap sprays:

However, many patients do not find the above throat sprays to be effective.

When not to use throat sprays

As a general rule, throat aerosols are not used in cases of individual sensitivity to the components of the drug. Some sprays have additional contraindications. Therefore, before use, read the instructions for use.

Useful video

The feeling of a sore throat is familiar to everyone from early childhood. A sore throat can be a manifestation of a variety of diseases, ranging from a swallowed bone to a blood disease. Specialists in the video help to understand the causes of a sore throat:

Conclusion

Today it is possible to use various throat sprays: aerosols with antibiotics, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and also in combination with an analgesic effect.

The best spray in terms of cost and effectiveness is Miramistin.

The best sprays for sore throat in adults are Strepsils Plus, Theraflu.

Judging by the reviews, a good throat spray is Novosept.

In many ways, the use of a particular spray is determined by habit and taste preferences. However, over time, microorganisms become resistant to the antiseptics included in the drug. Therefore, in order to be treated effectively, the drug should be changed periodically (for example, once a year).

And I really liked the Grammidin spray with antibiotic and antiseptic! I used to always buy Bioparox - it helped quickly. The active ingredients in Grammidin are different, but it feels no worse.

I didn't know about this before! I love regular grammidin!

And we treated the throat with grammidin spray. Well, it’s normal, he’s probably one of the new ones, for some reason he’s not in the article. Proved to be effective

Thanks for the tip! Need to remember!

my opinion: the spray should be selected by a doctor

As a specialist, it was interesting for me to read this article, basically everything is correct, with the exception of some important points that may occur; when I have time, I’ll write about others now about Miramistin. I will point out two important studies: 1 Resistance - Khanenko, Tonko from 2006, resistance to 62 strains of Staphylococcus aureus.

2 Cytotoxicity, research by Bagaev, Popov 2015, Miramistin in its dosage in which it is sold slows down reparative processes and can destroy cells.

Therefore, I think gargling with tap water is more effective, cheaper and most importantly safer for a sore throat, compared to Miramistin. Thank you.

Sprays have always caused a gag reflex in me, and nothing can be done about it. As a treatment, I ask the doctor to prescribe absorbable tablets. When I had pharyngitis, Trachisan was prescribed to me by ENT. Noticeable improvement occurred already on the third day. Then my throat began to hurt much less and the redness subsided.

You see how everything is individual: for some, sprays cause the emetic effect, for others, tablets, for others, syrups. Manufacturers try to please all categories of patients, and the doctor’s task is to help in their selection.

Will all these drugs help cope with cough? The throat itself does not hurt, but after eating cold, spicy or sour food, a cough begins that is difficult to stop - only honey helps among folk remedies. By the way, in your article it is written that before using the spray you need to take a few sips of water, so, after drinking water from the tap, I also start coughing.

A cough caused by eating food (cold, spicy, sour) is a serious reason to consult a doctor, perhaps even a gastroenterologist. As for water, before treating your throat, it is advisable to drink boiled or purified water not from the tap. This is most likely necessary in order to quench in advance the feeling of thirst that may arise after the spray and which cannot be quenched in the next half hour. If you have a cough, treat it with something more appropriate than throat sprays and stay healthy.
