North-Western Expressway: construction, diagram. North-East Expressway

Along the section of the North-Eastern Expressway (SVH) from Entuziastov Highway to the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) started a movement transport. The new route will redistribute traffic flows and reduce the load on outbound highways.

“In fact, this is one of the most difficult sections of the North-Eastern Expressway and, in general, of any road construction in Moscow: a huge number of utility lines for existing enterprises, connections with the railway; the section itself is very complex. This is the largest and longest overpass in the city - 2.5 kilometers straight, and also the most important section. It will improve transport accessibility for a million people living in about ten districts of Moscow, including those outside the Moscow Ring Road: Nekrasovka, Kosino-Ukhtomsky and a number of other districts,” said Sergei Sobyanin.

Construction of the section of the North-Eastern Expressway from Entuziastov Highway to the Moscow Ring Road began in February 2016 and was completed in September 2018. This twice as fast standard construction period.

“Next we will connect sections of the highway in the north and create a new city highway. By the way, this is one of the few sections that does not run along existing corridors, but essentially creates a new corridor. It will improve the situation on Shchelkovskoye and Otkrytoye highways, as well as on Entuziastov highway and the Moscow Ring Road. The most important section, the most important highway,” added the Moscow Mayor.

Six lanes and not a single traffic light

The traffic-free six-lane highway runs from the existing section of the temporary storage warehouse at the intersection with Entuziastov Highway, then from the northern side of the Kazan direction of the Moscow Railway (MZD) to the exit to the Kosinskaya overpass of the Moscow Ring Road. Total laid 1 1,8 kilometers of roads, including six overpasses.

Chords were built in this area the longest overpass in Moscow— 2.5 kilometers of direct travel from the Plyushchevo railway platform to the overpass exit from Perovskaya Street to the temporary storage warehouse.

“This is one of the most difficult sections, because 2.5 kilometers are artificial structures in the form of an overpass, running parallel to the railway. This is the most difficult element that we had to implement during construction,” said First Deputy Head of the Moscow City Construction Department Petr Aksenov.

Thanks to this engineering solution, it was possible to preserve the existing regional road network. In addition, the overpass can be used to cross the tracks of the Kazan direction of the Moscow Railway.

The design includes:

— overpass of the main route No. 1 (1.8 kilometers, three lanes in each direction) and two single-lane overpasses (each 143 meters). They provide traffic without traffic lights at the intersection with the railway tracks of the Gorky direction of the Moscow Railway and exits to Kuskovskaya Street;

— the left overpass of the main route No. 2 (740 meters, three lanes in each direction), which provides access from Budyonny Avenue and movement along the direct course of the temporary storage facility towards the Moscow Ring Road;

— the right overpass of the main route No. 2 (650 meters, three lanes in each direction) provides access to Budyonny Avenue and a promising direction towards Ryazansky Avenue along the tracks of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC).

In addition, overpass No. 3 (204 meters, two lanes in each direction) has appeared, along which you can exit the temporary storage warehouse onto Perovskaya Street.

Also built or reconstructed the ramps to adjacent streets and access roads with a total length of more than four kilometers.

On the side of residential buildings in the area of Kuskovskaya Street and Anosova Street, as well as near the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Veshnyaki, noise barriers three meters high and more than one and a half kilometers long.

Pedestrian crossings

The most important part of the project was the construction and reconstruction of pedestrian crossings. Through the new spacious passage under the temporary storage warehouse, residents of Veshnyaki can get there comfortably to the metro station and railway platform Vykhino.

The reconstructed pedestrian crossing in the area of the 4th Veshnyakovsky passage connects with the Assumption Church and the Veshnyakovsky cemetery.

The crossing in the area of the Plyushchevo railway platform will be useful for those who like to walk in Kuskovo estate park.

New transport artery

The construction of the temporary storage warehouse section from the Entuziastov highway to the Moscow Ring Road made it possible to redistribute traffic flows and reduce the load on outbound routes— Ryazansky Avenue, Entuziastov Highway and Shchelkovskoe Highway, as well as to the eastern sectors of the Moscow Ring Road and the Third Transport Ring (TTK).

In addition, the transport situation in southeastern and eastern sectors of the city, entry into Moscow has become much easier for residents of the Kosino-Ukhtomsky and Nekrasovka districts located outside the Moscow Ring Road, as well as for residents of the city of Lyubertsy in the Moscow Region. In the future, the section of the chord will provide a direct connection with the federal highway alternate Moscow - Kazan.

The North-Eastern Expressway will connect the new route M11 Moscow— St. Petersburg with the Kosinskaya overpass (namely, the interchange at the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road with the Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy highway). The road will connect the largest highways of the city: MKAD, Entuziastov Highway, Izmailovskoye, Shchelkovskoye, Yaroslavskoye, Altufevskoye, Otkrytoye and Dmitrovskoye highways.

In addition, it will be possible to go from the expressway to 15 major Moscow streets, including Festivalnaya, Selskokhozyaystvennaya streets, Berezovaya Alley, 3rd Nizhnelikhoborsky passage, Amurskaya, Shcherbakovskaya, Perovskaya, Yunosti, Papernik streets and others.

Near Bolshaya Academicheskaya Street The North-Eastern Expressway will connect with the North-Western, and in the area of Entuziastov Highway - with the projected South-East. Thus, the North-Eastern Expressway will provide diagonal connection north, east and southeast of the capital. This will relieve congestion in the city center, the Third Ring Road, the Moscow Ring Road and outbound highways.

The route of the new chord will pass through 28 districts Moscow and 10 large industrial zones. With the connection to one of the most important transport arteries of the capital, these industrial zones will also receive prospects for development.

The North-East Expressway will allow private and public transport to access 12 transport hubs, 21 metro and MCC stations, as well as platforms of the Savelovsky and Kazan directions of the Moscow Railway.

The length of the main route of the North-East Expressway will be about 35 kilometers. In total, taking into account exits and reconstruction of the road network, it is planned to build more 100 kilometers of roads, 70 overpasses, bridges and tunnels (total length of about 40 kilometers) and 16 pedestrian crossings. Now, as part of the construction of the North-East Expressway, a 69 kilometers of roads, 58 artificial structures (length 28 kilometers) and 13 pedestrian crossings.

At the moment, the construction of sections of the North-East Expressway has been completed:

— from the Businovskaya transport interchange to Festivalnaya Street;

— from Izmailovskoye to Shchelkovskoye highway;

— from Entuziastov highway to Izmailovskoye highway;

— from the Enthusiastov highway to the Moscow Ring Road.

Contractors have two-year warranty obligations, despite the fact that all documents have been accepted and signed.

“The contractors are not leaving; they still have a number of works related to the railway at the new substation. This substation connects the second stage of the North-Eastern Expressway, which runs from Otkrytoye to Yaroslavskoye Shosse,” noted Pyotr Aksenov.

Traffic will soon be opened along the section of the North-Eastern Expressway from Festivalnaya Street to Dmitrovskoye Highway.

Sections of the highway from Dmitrovskoye to Yaroslavskoye and from Yaroslavskoye to Otkrytoye Shosse are also being designed. As part of these areas, about 33 kilometers of roads.

Four chords

Chord highways are key element the new road frame of Moscow, which has been created in the city for the last eight years. New chords are about 300 kilometers of new roads, 127 overpasses, bridges and tunnels and more 50 pedestrian crossings.

It is planned to build four such highways:

North-Western Expressway— from Skolkovskoye to Dmitrovskoye highway;

North-East Expressway— from the new M11 Moscow — St. Petersburg highway to the Kosinskaya overpass;

South-Eastern Expressway— from Entuziastov highway to Polyany street;

Southern Rockade— from Rublevskoe highway to Kapotnya.

This fall, the North-Eastern and North-Western Expressways in Moscow will be connected by a turning overpass on Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street. First Deputy Head of the Construction Department Pyotr Aksenov told reporters about this after visiting one of the sections of the North-East Expressway under construction.

As RG has already written, the capital’s chords in terms of the scale of construction and the impact on city traffic can be compared with the Moscow Ring Road or the Third Ring Road. They will save Muscovites from tens of kilometers of re-runs, which they are now forced to do in order to get to the neighboring area. The chords will allow you to cross through the city without entering the historical center. Moreover, both highways will be free.

In particular, the SZH will run from the Dmitrovskoye to Skolkovskoye highways, and the TSW will run from the Moscow-St. Petersburg toll road to the interchange at the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road and the Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy interchange. After the highways are fully launched, the load on the outbound routes, according to calculations by the Research and Design Institute of the General Plan of Moscow, will decrease by 20-25 percent.

Some sections of the chords are already in use by motorists, and some of their elements are still being completed. For example, the connection between Festivalnaya Street and Dmitrovskoe Highway. It is almost 11 km long, and half of this route goes over bridges and overpasses. Artificial structures were specially designed so that they go as far as possible from houses and do not cause inconvenience to their residents. Nevertheless, just in case, in high-rise buildings in the northeast, builders replaced 6 thousand windows with silent ones. However, construction is already ending. Visually, the overpasses are almost ready; a few things remain to be completed on the engineering side.

We have actually completed 90 percent of the work,” Aksenov said. - But there was a slight delay. On one of the sites there is a Khovrinskaya pumping station, at which communications need to be relocated. In winter, this could not be done without harming the 3.5 thousand local residents whose houses are powered by it.

It turned out that it was possible to turn off the station only on May 15. According to Aksenov’s estimates, the northern section of the expressway can realistically be launched by City Day in September. This will complete the work along almost the entire length of the temporary storage warehouse. Construction is still ongoing on the section between Shchelkovskoye and Otkrytoye highways.

In the near future, in the southwest of the city, the North-Eastern passage will connect with the North-Western one. In the area of Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street, the construction of several connecting overpasses is planned. The first of them, the turnaround, will be completed in October of this year. It allows you to drive from one chord track to another without wasting time on a detour along Dmitrovskoe Highway. Let me note that the Moscow authorities expect to complete construction of both chords by 2020-2021.

The next and most difficult section of the North-East Expressway is planned to be completed in 2018. It will connect the M11 Moscow-St. Petersburg toll highway and Dmitrovskoye Highway. Today, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin inspected the progress of road construction and was pleased with the pace of work.

“We have begun the most difficult section of the Moscow road network. One plot to the street. We have already completed the festival section, and now we have started the second section, which almost entirely consists of overpasses, overpasses, tunnels and a bridge. We hope that we will finish it in 2018,” the Moscow agency quotes the mayor.

In Moscow, it is not the first or even the second year that three major roads have been built - the North-Eastern Expressway, the North-Western and Southern Roads. However, as it turned out, not all townspeople know what it is and why it is needed. So MOSLENTA decided to remind and start with the North-East.

From where and where

The North-Eastern Expressway (another name is “Northern Road”) will connect the south-east and north of Moscow along the periphery, i.e. the most densely populated areas of the city. It began to be built as a continuation of the only already constructed section of the Fourth Transport Ring (ChTK, it was abandoned). The route will also connect major highways in the northeast: Izmailovskoye, Shchelkovskoye, Dmitrovskoye, Altufevskoye and Otkrytoye highways, which will reduce road congestion.

The total length of the road will be 29 km. The highway will run from the M11 Moscow-Petersburg toll highway on the western side of the Oktyabrskaya Railway, along the Small Ring of the Moscow Railway to a new interchange on the Moscow Ring Road at the intersection with the Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy highway.

Section of the North-Eastern Expressway under construction from Festivalnaya Street to Dmitrovskoe Highway

Conventionally, it is divided into several sections, which are now in different stages of readiness:

From Businovskaya interchange to Festivalnaya street (opened in 2014);

From Festivalnaya Street to Dmitrovskoe Highway (under construction, inspected today);

From Dmitrovskoye to Yaroslavskoye highway (projected);

From Yaroslavskoye to Otkrytoye Shosse (route not determined);

From Otkrytoye to Shchelkovskoe highway (projected);

From Shchelkovskoye to Izmailovskoye highway (under construction);

From Izmailovskoye Highway to Entuziastov Highway (under construction);

From the Entuziastov highway to the interchange at 8 km of the MKAD "Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy" (projected).

Related infrastructure

The North-East Expressway is being built at a rapid pace. In September, a year earlier than planned, several facilities were commissioned at once on the section from Shchelkovskoye to Izmailovskoye Highway: two overpasses of the main route and one as part of a three-level interchange at the intersection of the highway with Shchelkovskoye Highway. This section will be completed by the end of the year.

Also, a lot of additional road infrastructure will be built on the road:

Overpass of the main route No. 1, 333 meters long with four lanes;

The left overpass of the main route No. 2 is 1.5 kilometers long with four lanes;

The right overpass of the main route No. 2 is 1.56 kilometers long with four lanes;

Overpass of the main route No. 4, 600 meters long with three lanes in each direction;

Three overpass ramps with a total length of 977 meters;

A railway overpass 189 meters long on the connecting branch of the Oktyabrskaya Railway;

The bridge over the Likhoborka River is 169 meters long with six lanes in one direction and five in the opposite direction. This width of the bridge is needed to connect the next section of the chord - from Dmitrovskoye Highway to Yaroslavskoye.

Pumping station "Khovrinskaya", serving the districts of Khovrino, Koptevo, Savelovsky, Timiryazevsky;

Underground pedestrian crossing near the Oktyabrskaya Railway platform;

Two wastewater treatment plants;

Five thousand window blocks will be replaced with noise-proof ones.

Benefit

The highway, together with all these structures, should significantly make life easier for four million citizens, the authorities are confident. For example, end-to-end communication will be established between the regions of the South-Eastern Administrative District, the Northern Administrative District and the Eastern Administrative District, bypassing the center, and new public transport routes will appear. It will be especially convenient for residents of the Golovinsky, Koptevo and Timiryazevsky districts.

An undoubted advantage for drivers is that there will be no traffic lights. The average travel time will be reduced by more than 15 percent, the Moscow Ring Road will be decongested by 20–25 percent, and traffic flows on the Third Ring Road, Shchelkovskoye Highway, Entuziastov Highway, as well as Ryazansky and Volgogradsky Avenues will be intelligently redistributed. Well, those traveling along the M11 Moscow-St. Petersburg highway will not need to look for ways to the center.

History of the concept

The idea of creating chords in Moscow was proposed back in the first half of the 20th century. In the 1930s, the famous planner and urbanist Anatoly Yakshin spoke about them. Later, already in the 1970s, his students, including the leading Russian expert in the field of transport planning, Alexander Strelnikov, again returned to discussing this topic.

Although in those days there were few cars on the streets of the capital, they already thought that their number would grow. Therefore, the concept of chords was included in the city general plan of 1971. In addition to the Moscow Ring Road and the Garden Ring, two new ring roads and four high-speed chord highways were designed. However, then the projects remained on paper. Gradually, the areas where roads were going to be built were built up, and the money was eventually invested in the Third Transport Ring, and then in the Fourth.

The idea to build chords was resurrected only in 2011. Then the authorities abandoned the construction of the Fourth Transport Ring, which was previously part of the general plan. The main reason is the prohibitively high cost, which exceeded a trillion rubles.

Instead of the ChTK, they decided to build three new highways: the North-Western Expressway, the North-East Expressway (another name is the Northern Road) and the Southern Road. These roads should ultimately form an open ring system. The result will be the same ring, but more efficient in terms of distribution of traffic flows, because each element will connect to the Moscow Ring Road. According to experts, this principle of traffic management is 20 percent more efficient than a closed ring road. In addition, the three new expressways will not pass through the congested city center.

Data provided by the official portal of the Moscow Construction Complex

Since the beginning of June, traffic has been open on the new Krylatsky Bridge, which is part of the southern section of the North-Western Expressway on the section from Leningradskoe Highway with access to Nizhnie Mnevniki - Krylatskaya Street.

Today, the construction of the SZH, which will significantly improve traffic conditions in the northern and western regions of the capital, is in full swing. This is an infrastructure megaproject comparable in scale to the construction of the Third Transport Ring. For information: the total length of the road network within the framework of the construction of the SZH is 79 km, the length of the Third Transport Ring is 35.1 km. That is, only one North-Western Expressway (with the entire cascade of the road network under construction) is twice as long as the Third Transport Ring.

1. The construction of this section will improve the transport situation in the ZAO and SZAO, the districts of Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, Krylatskoye, Kuntsevo, Filevsky Park and increase the vehicle capacity to 30% on the road network of these areas. In addition to the new Krylatsky Bridge, a new beam bridge is being built across lock No. 9 of the Canal named after. Moscow.

2. The construction of the North-Western Expressway will provide an additional mainline connection between the districts, thereby expanding the possibilities of access by ground public transport to the four existing metro lines: Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya, Zamoskvoretskaya, Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya and in the future to the Big Circle Line under construction . In addition, an alternative route for motorists will be created, which will provide communication between the North-Eastern Administrative District, the Northern Administrative District, the North-Western Administrative District and the Western Administrative District.

3. “The construction of the North-Western Expressway from Dmitrovskoye Shosse to Michurinsky Prospekt is basically completed, with a few objects remaining. Today we are launching one of these objects. This is the Krylatsky Bridge, which will improve the throughput of this section. In general, the North-Western Expressway is 80 kilometers of roads,” said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

4. The length of the new Krylatsky Bridge is 282 meters. It began to be built in December 2016 on the downstream side of the existing bridge, parallel to it, at a distance between the spans of 1.3 m (in the area of support No. 4, the clearance narrows to 0.65 m).

5. The first existing Krylatsky Bridge was built in 1984 according to the design of B. A. Gorozhanin by the team of Bridge Squad No. 4.

6. The main reconstruction involves the expansion of Nizhnie Mnevniki Street from two to three lanes in each direction. The estimated speed of the traffic flow is 60-80 km/h.

7. It remains to wait for the completion of the construction of the bridge across the lock and the completion of the reconstruction of Nizhnie Mnevniki street.

8. The North-Western Expressway is a new highway that will pass through the northern and western regions of Moscow: from Dmitrovskoye to Skolkovskoye Highway and further to Michurinsky Prospekt. It will connect major highways: Michurinsky Prospekt, Skolkovskoye, Mozhaiskoye, Rublevskoye, Zvenigorodskoye, Volokolamskoye, Leningradskoye and Dmitrovskoye highways.

In the area of Dmitrovskoye Highway, it will be possible to conveniently exit from the North-Western to the North-Eastern Expressway - either towards Sheremetyevo Airport or towards Yaroslavskoye Highway. It will also reduce (by approximately 15 percent) the traffic load on a number of central streets, the Third Transport Ring, the Moscow Ring Road and adjacent sections of outbound highways. And car mileage when traveling between neighboring areas will be reduced by about ten percent.

It is planned to open traffic on two sections of the North-East Expressway by early autumn. Over the next month, the initial section from the Businovskaya interchange to the Dmitrovskoye Shosse will be completed, and by the beginning of autumn it is planned to launch traffic along the final section of the route - from the Entuziastov Highway to the Moscow Ring Road.

Read about the stage of readiness of sections of the North-Eastern Expressway and when they are expected to open in the material of the Moscow 24 portal.

From Businovskaya interchange to Dmitrovskoe highway

Now the road between Dmitrovskoe Highway, Festivalnaya Street and Businovskaya Interchange is almost ready, builders are finishing the construction of a two-hundred-meter section in the area of the Khovrinskaya pumping station.

“The Khovrinskaya pumping station, which supplied more than three and a half thousand consumers, fell into the construction zone. We built a new station, but we were able to disconnect all systems from the previous one only on May 15 of this year, and we quickly began to build a two-hundred-meter section. We expect that we will finish in September. We will strive to open traffic for City Day,” First Deputy Head of the Construction Department Pyotr Aksenov told the Moscow 24 portal.

What is ready on the section from Dmitrovskoye Highway to Festivalnaya Street?

More than 11 kilometers of four-lane main road, seven overpasses, two of which are one and a half kilometers long, and ramps ranging from 300 to 500 meters in length were built on the site. A new overpass across the Oktyabrskaya Railway and a bridge over the Likhoborka River were built.

“At the same time, the construction of the overpass across the railway proceeded without stopping the movement of trains,” noted the first deputy head of the Department of Construction.

We also took care of protection from highway noise. “We have replaced six thousand window blocks, and we will also build about two kilometers of noise barriers,” Aksenov promised. According to him, trees will be planted along the road.

In October, a reversal overpass will be built on Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street, connecting the North-East Expressway with the North-West. “The overpass on Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street is the first part of the connection of the two expressways. It makes it possible to turn around on Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street and enter the North-Eastern Expressway without entering Dmitrovskoe Highway,” Aksenov noted.

From the Entuziastov highway to the interchange with the Moscow Ring Road "Veshnyaki - Lyubertsy"

In September, it is planned to open traffic on another section of the North-Eastern Expressway: from Entuziastov Highway to the Veshnyaki-Lyubertsy interchange on the Moscow Ring Road. Here the stumbling block was the old traction substation of the Gorky direction of the Moscow Railway. According to Pyotr Aksenov, the capital’s government has agreed with the Moscow Railway on the demolition of the substation and the construction of a new one.

“We turned off the traction substation and switched it to a new one, after which we began to complete the road. Full traffic from the Entuziastov highway to the interchange with the MKAD “Veshnyaki - Lyubertsy” will open in early autumn,” he promised.

From Otkrytoye to Shchelkovskoe highway

By the end of the year, the capital’s authorities plan to open traffic from Otkrytoye to Shchelkovskoye highway. Overpasses of the main passage and side passages were built here. And also a tunnel under the Shchelkovskoye Highway, which is going to open in the coming months. According to Pyotr Aksenov, the construction of roads more than eight kilometers long with the relocation of utilities is in full swing.

“On the section of the first section, traffic is planned to be opened within the next month. The main work of the first stage of construction has been completed. It includes the laying of about 5.5 kilometers of roads, including the construction of three overpasses about 3.4 kilometers long,” said a government official.

He also noted that thanks to the commissioning of a new section, traffic flows between Shchelkovskoye and Otkrytoye highways will be redistributed. This will reduce the traffic load on Bolshaya Cherkizovskaya, Stromynka, Krasnobogatyrskaya streets and Rusakovskaya embankment. In addition, transport accessibility of the Golyanovo and Metrogorodok districts will increase.

From Dmitrovskoe highway to Yaroslavskoe highway

Next year, construction of the section of the North-Eastern Expressway from Dmitrovskoye to Yaroslavskoye Highway may begin.

“The planning project has passed public hearings, has finally received approval from the Moscow government, design is now underway. The site is very complex, there is a cluster of large industrial enterprises and a huge number of utility networks. We are doing everything possible so that construction begins next year,” said the first deputy head Depstroya.

He emphasized that the design of the site and the liberation of the territory will be carried out at the expense of budget money. “We are already starting to work: demolishing garages and interacting with industrial enterprises that fall into the construction zone,” Aksenov noted.

At the same time, there is a proposal from investors to build a road from Dmitrovskoye to Yaroslavskoye highway on a concession basis, but a final decision on this issue has not yet been made, he explained.

From Otkrytoye to Yaroslavskoe highway

The only section of the North-Eastern Expressway on which no work is currently underway is from Otkrytoye to Yaroslavskoye Highway.

“The problem is that, presumably, the road should pass through the Losiny Ostrov national park, while there is no final decision on the routing of the section. The Moskomarkhitektura is working on the study, when the department completes the work, then we will start talking about the construction of the section,” summed up Pyotr Aksenov .
