Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

Chlorophyllipt is a mixture of chlorophylls obtained from the leaves of the blue (or globular) eucalyptus (Eucalýptus globúlus). Renders antimicrobial And etiotropic effect against staphylococci, including antibiotic-resistant and antibiotic-dependent strains.

Has the ability to eliminate genes carrying resistance to antibiotics ecosystems of different plasmids pathogens of bacterial infections , increases the concentration of oxygen in tissues, has pronounced detoxifying properties .

All of the above allows the drug to be used when natural immunity is reduced, as a means of combating tissue hypoxia , and also as a means of increasing the effectiveness of simultaneously used antimicrobials .

An experimental study of the drug revealed its tropism for lung tissue and the absence of embryotoxicity, teratogenicity, mutagenicity and carcinogenicity.

Bactericidal concentrations of the drug in the blood are created with a single injection of 8 ml of a 0.25% solution into a vein. To create a bacteriostatic concentration, half the dose is sufficient. The therapeutic concentration after injection into a vein lasts for an average of six hours, so it is optimal to administer the medicine four times a day.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetic studies have not been conducted.

Chlorophyllipt for children

The instructions for children do not contain clear recommendations for the use of Chlorophyllipt. The manufacturer indicates that there is no experience in using tablets, spray, alcohol and oil solutions in pediatrics. Moreover, one of the contraindications for taking a 1% alcohol solution orally is age under 18 years.

However, given the good tolerability of the drug and the small number of contraindications for use, it is often used from the neonatal period.

Chlorophyllipt for newborns is used primarily for treating the umbilical wound. The drug in the form of a one percent alcohol solution is prescribed as an alternative to the solution brilliant green or it is recommended to use it alternately with it.

In addition, doctors recommend using Chlorophyllipt solution for newborns for the treatment staphylococcal pustular rash and prevention of systemic inflammatory reactions that develop when exposed to pathogenic bacteria into the bloodstream.

For older children, wounds and abrasions are treated with the solution; for adolescents, the drug is indicated as a treatment for juvenile acne (the solution is applied to the elements of the rash pointwise using a cotton swab).

In some cases, children are prescribed intravenous administration of a 0.25% solution and oral administration of an oil solution. Parenteral administration is appropriate in cases where pathogenic staphylococci found in internal organs (in particular, in the lungs), body cavities and .

An oil solution is prescribed to children for sore throat and ARVI. It is used for nasal instillation and lubricating the larynx, including in the youngest patients (if difficulties arise with lubrication, the product can be given to infants on the nipple).

The alcohol solution is added to breast milk or artificial formula (a few drops for each dose).

It should be noted that when choosing between the use of Chlorophyllipt and antibiotics for young children, doctors often give preference to the first. This is due to the fact that, with the same antibiotics strength of action, Chlorophyllipt does not destroy microorganisms beneficial to the body and does not lead to .

The choice in favor of the drug is also made in case of immunity to antibacterial therapy and if the child has reduced immunity.

Is it possible to gargle with the drug for children and how to gargle with Chlorophyllipt (proportions)?

Since tablet forms of drugs are not suitable for treating young children, and the spray for children can only be used from the age of twelve (its side effects are allergic reactions and in particular, bronchospasm ), pediatricians at ENT diseases in children, it is recommended to use an oil solution of Chlorophyllipt to treat inflamed tonsils and an alcohol solution for gargling.

Children should use Chlorophyllipt for gargling after diluting 10 ml of a one percent solution in a glass of warm (not hot!) water.

The rinsing procedure is repeated at least 3 times a day. In this case, there must be an adult next to the child.

Is it possible to drop an oil solution into the nose of children?

Indications for use in children of a two percent solution in oil are inflammatory processes in the area of the paranasal sinuses - sinusitis And sinusitis . With absence allergies Oily Chlorophyllipt is injected into the child’s nose 2 or 3 times a day, two to five drops (depending on the patient’s age) into each nasal passage.

Chlorophyllipt during pregnancy

The effectiveness and safety of Chlorophyllipt during pregnancy/lactation have not been studied, so the drug can only be prescribed in a situation where the expected therapeutic effect exceeds the potential risks to the fetus/child.

Oil-based chlorophyllipt is a completely natural product. Outwardly it looks like an oily transparent liquid, rich emerald color. It contains two components: and oil (sunflower or olive, depending on the manufacturer). The active ingredient is chlorophyll from eucalyptus leaves.

It fights well against, even those strains that are not suppressed by benzylpenicillin antibiotics. The drug is also effective against other microorganisms.

Chlorophyllipt oil solution is used most often and due to cost

A characteristic feature of the product is that bacteria do not develop resistance to its effects, addiction and a decrease in effectiveness do not occur. Beneficial microflora is not destroyed. The pronounced properties of the medicine are antibacterial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic.

Indications for the use of chlorophyllipt oil-based solution

Chlorophyllipt is prescribed for various throat diseases: sore throats of various origins, pharyngitis (here), laryngitis, redness of the throat due to a cold.

Before starting therapy, regardless of the method of using the drug, it is necessary to determine the sensitivity to it, the tolerability of the components, and make sure that there is no. This can be easily checked by performing a simple test: dilute 25 drops of oil solution in 1 tbsp. l. water and drink.

Signs of an allergy (itching or rash on the body, hyperemia of skin areas, swelling of the mucous membranes) will make themselves felt within 8 hours. If no such complaints arise, the medicine can be safely used.

Directions for use in adults: lubricate the throat, drop into the nose

For treatment to be effective, follow these recommendations:

  1. Before using Chlorophyllipt, you should rinse your throat with clean warm water or. Chamomile or calendula are good for this; they will wash away mucus and pus, if there is any on the mucous membrane.
  2. Shake the bottle with Chlorophyllipt well and pour 10-15 drops into a teaspoon.
  3. Take a hygienic cotton swab, dip it in the medicine and generously lubricate the inflamed areas of the throat. If necessary, add the product to a spoon.

A tingling sensation may be felt in the treated areas of the mucous membrane - this is a normal reaction, there is no need to be alarmed. Do not drink or eat for 30 minutes, so as not to wash off the medicine prematurely.

The procedure is recommended to be carried out at least three times a day. In advanced cases, when the throat is very sore, you can smear it five times a day. Relief will be felt fairly quickly if you do everything correctly.

If a very strong gag reflex occurs and you cannot lubricate your throat, you can drop the oil solution into your nose, throwing your head back, 3-5 drops into each nostril. The drug from the nose will fall on the back walls of the throat, spread by saliva down the throat and will affect the lesions. This method is less effective than lubricating with medicine, but it can be used.

For even greater treatment effectiveness, you can use Chlorophyllipt.

An oil solution is not suitable for this, because oil will not dissolve in water, and the liquid will not be homogeneous.

For this procedure, it is better to take an alcohol solution. It contains Chlorophyllipt extract and medical alcohol.

Before use, the bottle should be shaken several times to thoroughly mix the sediment that often forms at the bottom and on the walls of the bottle. Then for a glass of warm water (temperature - 30-36 degrees) you need to take 1 teaspoon of solution. Stir the liquid and gargle thoroughly with it.

Rinse only with freshly prepared solution.

But after that you can lubricate your throat with an oil solution.

How to use for children and pregnant women according to the instructions for use

In the instructions for the drug, the manufacturer indicates that the effect of the drug on children has not been studied and no such experiments have been conducted. It turns out that there is no specific ban, but there are no recommendations either.

In practice, pediatricians often prescribe the remedy to children. As a herbal preparation, it is considered harmless for children.

The doctor or parents take responsibility for the use of Chlorophyllipt oil solution in the treatment of throat diseases in a child.

How can this medicine treat the throat of little fidgets? For children who use a pacifier (infants), drops onto the pacifier (3-4 drops) to treat the throat. It will spread through the mucous membranes with saliva and have the desired therapeutic effect.

For older babies and those who do not use a pacifier, Chlorophyllipt in oil is dropped into the mouth with a pipette, dripped onto the tongue or behind the cheek. The number of drops depends on the age of the child, varies from 3 to 10. From 3-4 years of age and older, you can try to lubricate inflamed areas of the throat with the product.

An oil solution is already used for schoolchildren in the same way as for adults.

Before use, it is necessary to conduct an allergy test for eucalyptus extract. 2-3 drops of the solution are dropped into the mouth. You should wait 6-8 hours for the reaction. If there is no rash, itching, swelling of the mucous membranes, or skin hyperemia, the product can be used.

The effectiveness and safety of the drug during pregnancy and lactation have not been studied. Therefore, the manufacturer does not assume responsibility for recommending Chlorophyllipt to pregnant and lactating women.

But gynecologists and therapists recommend it to them as a drug consisting of herbal components and not causing side effects. You should always weigh the expected benefits of treatment and the potential risk to the health of the fetus or child. What is important here is the woman’s own feelings, the absence and good tolerance of the components.

Can prevent the development of infection and its serious complications natural herbal preparation Chlorophyllipt. What parents need to know about this remedy and how to use it correctly to treat children, we will consider in our review.

Chlorophyllipt is an antimicrobial drug of plant origin.

Mechanism of action and composition

Chlorophyllipt is often called an antiseptic, but it refers to drugs with antimicrobial activity. It is based on an extract of globular (ball) eucalyptus leaves. This evergreen tree is called a natural antibiotic, as it has unique anti-inflammatory properties.

The name of the product comes from two words: “chlorophyll” - a green plant pigment involved in the process of forming oxygen from water and carbon dioxide, and “eucalyptus”.

  • bactericidal- destroys staphylococcal cells: the drug is active even against bacteria that are insensitive to antibiotics;
  • bacteriostatic- suppresses the growth and reproduction of microbial cells;
  • antihypoxic- saturates the inflamed cells of the body with oxygen;
  • anti-inflammatory- reduces pain, swelling and redness at the site of infection;
  • antipyogenic- blocks the processes of pus formation;
  • regenerating- accelerates healing;
  • immunostimulating- enhances the body's protective functions, its resistance to bacterial and viral infections.

Indications for use

The pronounced antimicrobial effect and several forms of release of the drug explain the wide range of its use. The drug can be prescribed in childhood for:

  • - infectious inflammation of the pharynx;
  • - inflammation of the larynx;
  • - tracheal infections;

The medicine will help with severe cough.

  • bronchitis and pneumonia - inflammation of the lower respiratory tract;
  • sanitization (cleansing) of the body when carrying a pathogen;
  • superficial wounds, scratches of the skin and mucous membranes;
  • inflammatory, pustular skin lesions;

Release forms: which is more convenient for children

Chlorophyllipt has as many as five release forms, which are not so easy for mom to understand. Let's look at each of them in more detail.

Oily solution for topical use

Most often, pediatricians prescribe an oil solution to their patients. It has a mild effect and does not irritate the baby's delicate skin. It contains only two components:

  • eucalyptus leaf extract;
  • vegetable oil.

The domestic pharmaceutical company Vifitech uses purified sunflower oil for the production of the drug, and the pilot plant GNTsLS (Ukraine) uses olive oil. The drug has a concentration of 2%. This dosage means that each milliliter contains 20 mg of active substance.

Oily Chlorophyllipt is a thick viscous liquid of rich green color with a bright herbal aroma. The product is available in dark glass bottles of 20 or 30 ml. Each bottle is supplied with instructions for use () and packaged in a green box. Depending on the volume, the price of the drug ranges from 100 to 150 rubles.

For a sore throat, you need to lubricate your throat with an oil solution.

Throat spray

Spray Chlorophyllipt It is recommended to spray in case of inflammation of the larynx, pharynx or trachea. Thanks to uniform irrigation of the drug into the oropharynx, its high concentration is achieved at the site of infection. This way recovery comes faster.

The spray from the Ukrainian manufacturer “GNTsLS Pilot Plant” is produced in small (15 ml) bottles made of dark glass, equipped with a plastic spray nozzle. The average price in pharmacies is 100 rubles. Chlorophyllipt spray, produced by the Russian company Vialine, is placed in 45 ml plastic bottles and equipped with a spray nozzle. You can buy it for 190 rubles.

This dosage form contains:

  • purified water;
  • glycerin is a substance that softens and coats a baby’s sore throat;
  • eucalyptus extract - active ingredient;
  • nettle extract - a natural component that reduces swelling and inflammation;
  • triclosan - a substance with antibacterial and antifungal properties;
  • emulsogen that maintains a uniform spray consistency.

The most convenient form of release of the drug is a spray.

Alcohol solution for topical use and oral administration

The alcohol solution has a lower concentration of the active substance - 1%. The rest of it is occupied by ethyl alcohol. This form of the drug is available in a glass bottle or 100 ml plastic jar.

The product is a rich green liquid with a pronounced herbal and alcoholic odor. The average price in pharmacies is 300 rubles.

Alcohol solution - for gargling.

Pills

Lozenges are a form of the drug that convenient to use for the treatment of infections of the ENT organs. The content of the active substance is 12.5 mg or 25 mg. The average price of a package of 20 tablets with a characteristic herbal odor is 100 rubles.

Alcohol solution for intravenous administration

An alcohol solution at a concentration of 0.25% is used for serious infectious diseases: pneumonia, sepsis, staphylococcal meningitis. The drug is produced in ampoules that contain 2 ml of an alcohol solution of eucalyptus extract (of which 5 mg is the active substance). The average price of a package of 10 ampoules is 140 rubles.

Methods of application

There are several ways to use Chlorophyllipt for children. Let's look at them.

Oil solution

Most often, an oil solution is used for:

  • drops into the nose for a runny nose;
  • throat treatment for pharyngitis.

The oil solution will help with a runny nose.

Chlorophyllipt helps not only with a runny nose, but also with inflammation of the sinuses, in which abundant mucous or mucopurulent discharge from the nose interferes with the baby’s normal breathing. Follow a simple algorithm for treating the nasal cavity oil solution of the drug:

  1. Prepare everything you need: a bottle of medicine (room temperature), a clean pipette, cotton wool, saline solution.
  2. Clean the baby's nose: drop 1-2 drops of a weak saline (saline) solution into both nostrils of the baby, and after 2-3 minutes ask him to blow his nose or clean his nose with cotton wool.
  3. Shake the bottle of medicine thoroughly.
  4. Pipette some Chlorophyllipt. There is no need to dilute it with water or anything else.
  5. If the little patient is already 3 years old, drop 1 drop of medicine into each nostril 2 times a day.
  6. For infants and children under 3 years of age, pediatricians recommend inserting cotton wool pads soaked in 1-2 drops of the product into the nose for 2-3 minutes.

The course of treatment for sinusitis is 5-7 days. During the procedure the baby may complain of a slight tingling and burning sensation in the nose- This is fine.

The drug also has pronounced antibacterial properties against infections of the oropharynx. To treat a child's sore throat:

  1. Shake the medicine bottle well.
  2. Invite your baby to rinse his mouth and throat with warm boiled water (if he knows how).
  3. Ask the baby to open his mouth wide and carefully examine the throat and tonsils: if there is purulent plaque or films on them, try to remove them with a damp swab or finger wrapped in gauze.
  4. Measure a small amount of product (approximately 10-20 drops) into a separate container.
  5. Dip a cotton swab into the medicine.
  6. Ask your baby to open his mouth wide again and hold his breath. Using precise and confident movements, treat the mucous membrane of the pharynx and tonsils with a cotton swab and solution.
  7. For better effect The baby should not eat or drink anything for 30-40 minutes after treating the throat.

If your baby is under one year old, apply the solution to the pacifier.

Repeat the procedure 2 times a day, morning and evening for 4-7 days. Doctors advise treating the throat with Chlorophyllipt for children over three to four years old. Infants can be offered a pacifier with 1-2 drops of an oil solution applied to it (no need to dilute).

Note! If you buy Chlorophyllipt from domestic manufacturers, you will not find any age restrictions on the use of the product. The instructions for the medicine released in Ukraine prohibit its use by children under 18 years of age. Why did this happen, and which opinion should you trust?

Probably, the ban on the use of a throat drug produced by Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies is due to the lack of large-scale clinical studies and documentation confirming its safety. Despite this, most pediatricians prescribe a natural oil solution of eucalyptus extract to children, including infants up to one year old.

Spray

The spray is applied topically. Ask your baby to open his mouth and hold his breath. Press the spray nozzle once or twice, spraying the medicine stream evenly down your throat. Repeat the procedure 1-3 times a day for a week.

Attention! The spray should not be used to treat children under two years of age.

They do not know how to hold their breath, and if the medicine gets into the respiratory tract, it can lead to laryngospasm - a sharp narrowing of the lumen of the larynx.

Pills

Lozenges are good help cope with unpleasant sensations in the oropharynx during pharyngitis and quickly overcome the disease. As with the spray, the official instructions allow their use only by adults, but pediatricians also prescribe them for children over 6 years of age. Before giving medicine to your baby, tell him about the important rules:

  1. Chlorophyllipt tablets for children It is recommended to dissolve slowly, moving them around the mouth with your tongue.
  2. They should not be held behind the cheek or under the tongue, as prolonged contact of the drug with the mucous membrane can cause irritation.
  3. There is no need to chew the tablet either.- in this case, the effectiveness of the drug will significantly decrease.
  4. The standard treatment regimen for pharyngitis, tracheitis and laryngitis involves taking 1 tablet every 4-5 hours. The maximum daily dose is 5 tablets. The course of treatment should not exceed 7 days.

The tablet must be kept in the mouth until completely dissolved.

Alcohol solution (1%)

Alcohol solution is a multifunctional antimicrobial agent. It can be used to process:

  • scratches, wounds on the skin and mucous membranes;
  • pustular rashes and acne;
  • itchy rashes due to chickenpox;
  • umbilical wound in newborns;
  • skin of a baby with prickly heat or diaper dermatitis.

Dip a cotton swab in the solution and treat the affected area. Repeat the procedure 1-4 times a day until healing. Apply the product point-by-point, as alcohol dries out the skin greatly. Before external use, the drug does not need to be diluted with water.

If undiluted medicine causes irritation, mix it with boiled water in a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 immediately before use.

The same is done when treating mucous membranes.

Another way to use this dosage form is to gargle. For the procedure, 1 teaspoon of medicine is dissolved in 1 glass of warm boiled water. In the first days of illness, you need to gargle as often as possible, every 2-3 hours. Then the frequency of rinses is reduced to 2-3 per day. The full course of treatment is 4-7 days. Compound

Active ingredient: Eucalyptus leaf extract Concentration of active ingredient: 0.4 ml

Pharmacological effect

Herbal product. Aqueous and alcoholic extracts from eucalyptus leaves exhibit bactericidal, antiviral, fungicidal, antiprotozoal and anti-inflammatory effects. The degree of their expression depends on the content of the essential oil (0.3-4.5%). The activity of the main component of the essential oil cineole (65-85%) is potentiated by pinenes, myrtenol, tannins (up to 6%). When taken orally and inhaled, eucalyptus preparations cause expectorant, mucolytic and bronchodilator effects, and when applied to the skin, they have an astringent, antiexudative, antipruritic, anesthetic, and, in higher concentrations, a local irritant effect. An infusion of eucalyptus leaves, thanks to essential oil and a small amount of bitterness, increases the secretion of the digestive glands and improves digestion. When used in the form of a tincture, a sedative effect is manifested due to isovaleric acid aldehyde. Chlorophyllipt, containing a mixture of chlorophylls from eucalyptus leaves, has antimicrobial, especially antistaphylococcal, activity, and stimulates regeneration processes. The components of the essential oil, together with organic acids, tannins and microelements manganese, zinc, selenium, increase tissue resistance to hypoxia of various origins.

Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by staphylococci, including antibiotic-resistant strains; burns, long-term non-healing wounds and trophic ulcers of the extremities; cervical erosion; for the prevention of postoperative complications, as well as for intestinal sanitation in case of staphylococcal carriage.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Precautionary measures

Use with caution in case of increased secretion of the digestive glands. Do not allow eucalyptus preparations (especially tinctures, eucalyptus oil, chlorophyllipt) to get into your eyes. Before starting treatment, it is necessary to check the patient's sensitivity to the plant. To do this, give the patient a tablespoon of infusion, 10 drops of tincture or 25 drops of a 1% alcohol solution of chlorophyllipt in 1 tablespoon of water. If there are no allergic reactions after 6-8 hours, a course of treatment can be prescribed. Intolerance may be indicated by the patient’s negative attitude towards the smell of eucalyptus.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
