Pencil drawings of different dogs' faces. How to draw a charming dog with a simple pencil

If you are going to have or have already acquired a four-legged friend, then you should definitely think about creating a cozy corner for your pet. The dog needs its own place where it will sleep and which it can consider as its refuge. The kennel should be functional, comfortable to live in and, if possible, beautiful. Find out which dog house options are the most successful, study drawings and photos of finished houses, select suitable materials and feel free to start arranging your home.

Types of dog houses

The design of a dog house can be very diverse. It all depends on where the pet lives. So, a kennel for a yard dog should be durable and resistant to weather conditions. A house for lap dogs is designed not only to serve as a refuge, but also to fit into the overall interior.

Outdoor kennel

Outdoor booth for a yard or cottage

A kennel for a dog living on the street must combine the following qualities:

  • durability, because it will have to serve in the open air for more than one year;
  • windproof and waterproof to protect your four-legged friend from the piercing wind and rain in bad weather;
  • thermal insulation properties - a warm dog house is simply necessary if the animal spends the whole year outside;
  • Compliance with size - the pet should be comfortable in the internal space.

Particular attention is paid to insulating the dog house. Foam plastic, expanded polystyrene, mineral wool, and ordinary cardboard are used as thermal insulation. It is necessary to take into account that most dogs are not averse to testing the walls of their home. The insulation layer is insulated with sheathing made of boards, OSB or plywood. Properly insulated walls have the following structure:

  1. The first layer is the outer skin, which is weather-resistant.
  2. The second layer is insulation, laid in a dense layer without gaps or cracks. Polystyrene foam and expanded polystyrene are laid directly on the sheathing, and a vapor barrier material (isolon, isospan, polyethylene film) is laid under the mineral wool.
  3. The third layer is the inner lining made of plywood and wood. The material must be environmentally friendly and breathable.

Kennel diagram

The most common and simple dog house is a wooden house with a pitched or gable roof. To finally decide what the building will be like, it’s a good idea to study photos of finished dog houses on your garden plot.

Rules for kennel location on the street:

  1. The house is installed in the shade of trees or buildings. In a completely open, sunny place, the pet has nowhere to hide from the heat.
  2. If the dog is a guard dog, then the kennel is positioned so that it has an open view of the yard.
  3. The dog's home should not be flooded during heavy rain. It is unacceptable for water to flow onto it from the roofs of other buildings and drainpipes.

The house must be placed in the shade

Home kennel as a dog’s personal space

A doghouse in a room at home rather plays a decorative role and serves as a resting place. For animals of large breeds, it is advisable to equip flat beds, since a full-fledged house with a roof will take up a very large space.

For small decorative dogs weighing up to 15-20 kg, cute indoor kennels are often made from foam rubber, cardboard or thin plywood. A removable mattress is placed inside the kennel, which can be easily removed and washed as needed. A dog house in an apartment is usually covered with upholstery or decorative fabric that matches the interior.

The pet's place is located in a secluded corner, away from drafts. You should not place the house on the walkway, because it is inconvenient for both the household and the dog itself. It is best to set up a home kennel somewhere in the room, away from the hustle and bustle, but the kitchen or hallway is clearly not the best place.

Sometimes owners set up a dog house on the balcony. This design is justified in the warm season; the pet can stay in the fresh air for a long time. Almost the same requirements apply to it as to a street building, that is, it must be durable, waterproof and windproof.

In winter, a balcony kennel is usually not used. The exception is insulated loggias, where the kennel can stand both in winter and summer.

Dog house designs

A large selection of options allows you to choose the design of the kennel depending on the specific situation.

Kennel with a gable roof

The traditional gable roof is perhaps the most common option, found everywhere. The walls are made of wood, brick, frame. The roof is made of wooden panels and slate. In cold regions, the structure must be supplemented with an attic floor made of boards or plywood to minimize heat loss.

It is convenient to arrange a small closet under the gable roof, which will serve as a place to store ammunition, toys, and training equipment. One of the slopes is attached to the door hinges so that it can be raised if necessary. The angle of inclination of a gable roof can be varied from 5 to 60 degrees, but a roof with an angle between the slopes of about 40 degrees looks most beautiful.

Gable roof

Building with a pitched roof

A shed roof is practically no different in its properties from a gable roof, and it is a little easier to make. The material used is the same as in the first option - tightly knit wooden panels, slate sheets. You should avoid roofs made of corrugated sheets or metal tiles, because iron gets hot in the summer and does not retain heat in the winter.

The slope of a lean-to kennel should be directed in the direction opposite to the entrance, so that during rain water does not flow directly into the room. The tilt angle should be at least 5-10 degrees. The wooden roof is additionally protected with roofing felt, slate, and thick plastic film.

Shed roof

Dog apartment with vestibule

A two-room dog house is a very comfortable accommodation option. Thanks to the vestibule, the four-legged watchman can sit under the roof during bad weather, and sleep and relax in a second enclosed room. Such a kennel is much warmer than a one-room one, because the vestibule prevents the wind from blowing into the sleeping compartment. In northern regions with cold, long winters, a two-room insulated kennel is the best solution for keeping animals outside.

The frame of the booth is installed in such a way that the roof over the closed compartment can be raised to change the bedding, as well as periodic disinfection. The hole into the second compartment is positioned at an angle to the entrance to create an additional obstacle to the wind.

Project of a booth with a vestibule for a large dog

House with a canopy

A booth with a veranda is not as comfortable as a two-room one. Such a shelter protects the four-legged pet well from rain, but not from wind, so if possible it is installed in a windproof area of the yard.

The roof and bottom of the dog house with a terrace are made to protrude from the side of the manhole. The size of the porch depends on the breed; it is designed so that the dog can comfortably fit there while lying down. As a rule, the veranda is half or slightly less of the total area of the structure.

If you approach the matter with imagination, a doghouse with a porch can turn into a real fairy-tale mansion and become a decoration of the site. A building with a painted or carved porch looks very nice.

House with porch

Comfortable home with a door

As a rule, a regular curtain serves as the door for a doghouse. It is made to the size of the hole with a slight overlap. The curtain is secured by pressing it to the upper edge of the opening with a thin wooden strip and screwing it with self-tapping screws. The following materials are most suitable for curtains:

  • tarpaulin;
  • burlap folded in several layers;
  • old flannelette blankets;
  • worn-out carpets and rugs;
  • thick fabric, for example, a piece of an old drape coat;
  • special silicone sheets that can be bought at pet stores.

Original curtain

However, such an impromptu door to a doghouse does not always serve as good protection. Young playful animals often simply tear the curtain to shreds. In this case, you will have to think about how to arrange more thorough protection.

It should be noted that permanent doors for a booth are justified only in areas with a harsh climate. In regions with mild winters, it is enough to simply install the kennel in a place protected from the wind.

A wooden door for a dog kennel may also be needed if the four-legged guard reacts too violently to guests. If you plan to close an aggressive animal from time to time, then hang the door on strong hinges, and also attach a deadbolt or locking hook to it.

This kennel with a door looks like a hobbit's house

Designer two-story booth

Two-story dog houses are more of an unusual decoration for a yard than a necessity for an animal. On the first floor, as a rule, there is a sleeping area, and on the second floor there is an open bed. Both tiers are connected to each other using a ladder.

However, a two-tier dog house can be of any configuration. If you make a sleeping compartment on the second floor, then on the first you will get a comfortable closed terrace. If you have two dogs, a two-story doghouse with two bedrooms will save space and materials for construction.

Fancy dog houses are not sold in stores. An exclusive can only be made to order or built with your own hands. The construction of a two-story structure is not much different from the usual one. First, they draw a detailed layout indicating all the dimensions of the dog house. After this, the frame of the first floor is made, and instead of the roof, the second floor is equipped.

Two-story house

Double booth for comfort

A kennel for two dogs provides two sleeping compartments isolated from each other, located under one roof. Dog kennels for two are most often made one-story, with manholes located next to each other.

A double dog house is an oblong structure with separate entrances. The internal space is divided by a solid wooden partition. A common terrace or vestibule can be attached to such a kennel. In general, the structure of a kennel for two is the same as for one dog.

Before building a dog house with a partition, you need to draw a design diagram taking into account the size of the animals. Usually they make a double kennel with compartments of equal area. If the dimensions of four-legged pets are very different, you can make sleeping places of different sizes.

Double kennel

How to calculate the size of the booth

The first thing to think about when designing a kennel is its size. It directly depends on the size of the dog. In a room that is too small, the pet will be cramped and hot, and in a room that is too spacious, it will be cold in winter. If the dog is still a puppy, the house is built for growth, taking into account the size of the adult animal.

To optimally select the size, several measurements are taken from the animal:

  • the distance from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail - this will be the depth of the kennel;
  • height at the withers - add 5 cm to the resulting figure, this is the optimal height of the room. The hole is made 5 cm smaller in height, the dog should pass freely into it, slightly bending its head;
  • width of the chest in front - adding 5 cm to this value, you get the width of the manhole.

How to correctly take measurements to determine the size of a kennel

In regions with harsh winters, it is recommended to strictly adhere to optimal sizes. The interior space is designed so that the dog can freely enter and lie down, curling up or tucking his paws. In the southern regions, the house can be made more spacious.

Features of calculations for large breed dogs

Kennels for dogs of large breeds, such as the Moscow Watchdog, Alabay, St. Bernard, Labrador, German Shepherd, Irish Wolfhound, are of impressive size. In order for the structure to last for more than one year, it is initially made with a margin of safety.

Approximate dimensions of a dog house for Alabai:

  • house height - 90 cm;
  • sleeping place depth - 130 cm;
  • kennel width - 100 cm;
  • the dimensions of the hole are 60 by 40 cm.

Kennel drawing for large breeds

A booth for a Caucasian cannot be smaller than the specified dimensions, because dogs of this breed are among the largest. For a German Shepherd or Labrador, make a slightly smaller room.

Sizes for medium breed dogs

Medium breeds include Rottweiler, Boxer, Shar Pei, as well as most hunting dogs such as huskies, hounds, and pointers.

Approximate dimensions of a doghouse for medium-sized breeds:

  • height - 80 cm;
  • sleeping place depth - 110 cm;
  • kennel width - 75 cm;
  • the dimensions of the hole are 50 by 35 cm.

House for medium-sized breeds

This booth is perfect for a husky or any other hunting dog. If the room is intended for a short-haired dog, for example, a boxer or sharpei, it must be well insulated.

For small breed dogs

For the smallest dogs, as a rule, small indoor kennels are built. Small breeds include dachshunds, Yorkshire terriers, pugs, miniature poodles, Chinese crested dogs, and Pekingese.

Kennel dimensions for a small dog:

  • sleeping place depth - 70 cm;
  • width - 55 cm;
  • booth height - 60 cm;
  • the dimensions of the hole are 40 by 30 cm.

Miniature kennel

When designing a house, be sure to take into account the individual characteristics of the breed. For example, it is obvious that a kennel for a dachshund and a kennel for a Chinese Crested dog will be different, although both breeds are small.

Decorative short-haired dogs such as Toy Terriers and Chihuahuas often freeze even in an apartment, so the home must be insulated or a thick mattress placed inside.

We make a booth with our own hands from scrap materials

You can make a beautiful and functional dog house with your own hands from any available materials. Wooden beams and boards, plywood, slate, and brick will be used. There are craftsmen who adapt even old car tires, refrigerator bodies and washing machines into kennels.

What kind of kennel to build from wood

The classic option is a wooden dog house. Wood protects well from heat and cold, it breathes and does not emit harmful substances, contributing to a favorable microclimate inside. The service life of a dog house made from boards is approximately 6-7 years, after which the material begins to dry out and requires replacement.

It is very easy to build a kennel from pallets or pallets. They are used as a finished frame, which is sheathed with plywood. The kennel can be made from ordinary pine boards at least 2 cm thick, as well as from pieces of thick plywood or OSB. A wooden structure should not be treated with any antiseptics or impregnations against bark beetles, because dogs have a very developed sense of smell and it will be uncomfortable for the animal to be in a strong-smelling room.

If your house is built of wood, then it is quite logical to make a dog house from the same log or timber. In this case, a chopped kennel will fit into the overall style of the site perfectly.

To save expensive building materials, you can build a dog house from simple boards, and then finish it from a blockhouse or slab, imitating a solid beam. Blockhouse is a finishing material made of natural wood that imitates solid timber. Croaker - convex remains of logs after cutting into boards.

Wooden kennel

DIY wooden booth

Stages of building a plywood dog house with a pitched roof:

  1. The base of the floor is made from 100x100 mm bars. Lay the frame on a flat surface and fill one side with a sheet of plywood according to its size. The structure is turned over and foam, polystyrene foam or mineral wool is tightly placed in the space between the beams. The plywood is also stuffed on this side. The floor is ready.
  2. Install two vertical bars on the base along the height of the facade and two slightly shorter bars on the opposite side to provide a slope for the future roof. During work, check the verticality of the racks using a building level. The bars are secured with wood screws and metal corners.
  3. Separately, three bars are connected into a U-shaped structure according to the size of the hole using self-tapping screws and metal corners. Screw it to the base in the required place.
  4. The outside of the structure is sheathed with plywood or OSB. A layer of insulation is laid on the inside, just like on the floor, after which the interior lining is made.
  5. The roof is made in the same way as the floor, but slightly larger in size so that it protrudes slightly beyond the structure. The finished roof is mounted on a kennel and covered with roofing felt or covered with slate.
  6. Place the kennel on thick beams or bricks.

The process of building a house

How to build a brick kennel

A solid brick kennel is suitable for a large dog. This construction is very durable and will last for decades. Building a brick doghouse with your own hands is not much different from building other permanent buildings. The material for the booth is not only brick; it can be built, for example, from foam blocks or cinder blocks.

How to build a dog house:

  1. The site for construction is cleared and leveled. The contours are marked, and then a trench of approximately 25x25 cm is dug around the perimeter for the foundation. Fill it with concrete and leave it to harden for several days.
  2. Start laying out the walls. During work, be sure to check the verticality of the structure, as well as compliance with 90-degree angles. At the location of the hole, the required number of bricks are passed along its width. When the masonry reaches the height of the hole, a wooden block is laid across it and the masonry continues completely.
  3. The finished brick booth must be insulated from the inside with wooden cladding, and a wooden floor must also be laid.
  4. A ceiling is made of boards or plywood on the roof, after which the roof itself is installed, for example, made of slate.

Quick cardboard solution

If the owners are faced with the question: how to quickly make a booth for a small dog living in an apartment, then one of the possible options is a cardboard house. Probably everyone has unnecessary boxes of household appliances and appliances. It is this thick cardboard that will make a good quick booth.

Materials and tools that will be needed for work:

  • thick cardboard, the thicker the better;
  • tape measure, scissors, pencil;
  • wide tape or large stapler;
  • leftover wallpaper or pieces of fabric to decorate the outside of the house.

How to make a dog house from a cardboard box:

  1. First of all, you need to draw a template. First, a small copy is drawn with an exact indication of the actual dimensions. After this, the pattern is transferred to cardboard in full size. For convenience, you can cut out a pattern from paper, and then draw cardboard blanks along it.
  2. Cut out the parts with strong scissors or a construction knife. It is better to make the bottom and walls one-piece with folds - this way the house will gain additional strength.
  3. The next step will be assembling the booth. The cut out parts are connected into a single structure using wide construction tape. First, only the corners in several places are fixed with pieces of tape so that the house does not fall apart. After this, glue the adhesive tape along all the seams in several layers. The edges of the opening are also covered with tape.
  4. The finished house has a rather unsightly appearance. For beauty, its outer surface is covered with wallpaper or covered with upholstery fabric. A mattress with a removable cover is placed inside.

Cardboard kennel

A self-made cardboard doghouse is unlikely to last long. But it’s easy to make in just an hour. Instead of tape, you can fasten the parts with thin wire or even a simple stapler.

Tire bed

It’s easy to make a dog bed for a medium-sized dog from a car tire. To do this, the inner edges of the tire are carefully and evenly cut off, and then painted in the color you like. A round mattress is placed on the bottom. The resulting bed is quite capable of replacing a full-fledged kennel for your pet.

You can also make a booth for a yard dog from an old wheel. Several tires are stacked on top of each other and connected to each other with strong wire. The resulting structure is placed on its side. On one side the hole is covered with a piece of plywood, and the opposite side is left as a hole. A board made of boards is placed inside such a homemade booth so that the dog can lie comfortably.

Tire bed

Foam kennel

For a small lap dog, it is best to sew a soft foam booth. For animals weighing more than 20 kg, it is advisable to arrange a flat bed without a roof.

Before sewing a doghouse, you need to decide on the material. A sheet of foam rubber 2-3 cm thick is suitable as a base. The external upholstery is chosen according to your taste so that you get a beautiful and original dog house that fits into the interior of the house.

In order to make a decorative kennel for an indoor dog, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • doghouse pattern drawn on life-size sheets of paper;
  • a sheet of foam rubber 2 cm thick, the size of the sheet depends on the size of the animal, for example, a piece of 2x1 meter is enough for a dachshund or a Jack Russell terrier;
  • a piece of upholstery fabric slightly larger in size than a sheet of foam rubber;
  • natural fabric for the interior of the house;
  • thick threads, needle, scissors, construction knife;
  • sewing machine.

Pattern of a soft kennel

Manufacturing stages:

  1. Transfer the pattern to the foam rubber. The markings are made without seam allowance. Cut out all the parts with a construction knife, as the scissors will quickly become dull from such work.
  2. Mark the same pattern first on the upholstery fabric, and then on the lining fabric, but always with seam allowances of at least 3 cm. Cut out all the details.
  3. Separate fabric covers are sewn together on a machine for each foam part. To do this, pieces of two types of fabric are folded with the wrong sides inward and stitched on three sides. Please note that the cover does not need to be turned inside out, the seams must remain on the outside.
  4. A corresponding foam blank is placed inside each case, after which the last edge is stitched. They try to make sure that the upholstery tightly fits the pieces of foam rubber, otherwise the finished house will turn out ugly.
  5. The finished parts are sewn together from the inside, forming a house. In this case, all protruding seam allowances are folded inward and stitched.
  6. To make the soft kennel even more decorative, a thick cord is laid along all the seams and carefully sewn on by hand.

Ready-made foam house

A caring owner will always find a way to make a doghouse for his beloved dog. Among the many options, there is sure to be one that is suitable for your pet.

We have already learned how to draw a cat, now we will figure out how to draw a dog step by step. The animal can be depicted in several versions: a simple “cartoon” sketch for those who skipped art classes at school, or a more complex and detailed pencil drawing of a dog. Thanks to the detailed step-by-step description, this task can be easily completed by anyone. The main thing is a little patience, perseverance and a good mood.

For drawings you will need: a set of pencils (2M, M, TM, T, 2T), an eraser, a sharpener, sheets of paper.

Young children struggle with complex lines, so we found some easy and fun dog pictures. Such drawings are the simplest and any child can repeat them.

cartoon character

Many children have favorite cartoon dog characters. Balto, Dalmatians, Walt Disney's Goofy, characters from Lady and the Tramp or Bolt - this is not a complete list of cute and funny dogs that children and adults love so much. We offer to draw Baby from the animated series "Barboskiny" - the youngest in the "dog family", a reasonable, obedient, but playful dreamer puppy and a funny bulldog from the animated series "Tom and Jerry"

Baby Barboskin

Using a hard pencil, draw two circles. The first, large one, is the head, and in the place of the second, smaller one, there will be a puppy’s tummy. Mark where the ears will be.

We mark the body and paws with straight lines.

We mark the muzzle with thin shading. Pay attention to the symmetry of the features. We mark the eyes, nose, mouth and eyebrows. Draw pointed ears. Then, based on the markings made at the previous stage, we draw the paws and torso with soft lines. Use an eraser to erase the markings and extra lines.

Let's detail the Baby's face. We draw a jumpsuit and an applique on it. We mark the collar, toes on the front paws and sneakers on the back paws.

At the final stage, use a soft pencil to add shading to the fur and give clarity to the features of the muzzle. We draw the pupils, teeth, detail the clothes (add buttons on the straps, a pocket in front and shoes). We finish drawing the tail.

Baby Barboskin is ready.

Toothy bulldog from Tom and Jerry

In real life, a bulldog may not be the friendliest breed. And in the cartoon he is a very funny and amusing dog. Thanks to the step-by-step MK, you can easily draw such a curious pet. The main thing is to maintain proportions and adhere to the algorithm.

Funny dog coloring book

If a child asks to draw a dog, then don’t get lost. Try this simple and cute coloring page. Afterwards, you and your baby can color the dog with bright markers, colored pencils or paints.

The drawing of a dog begins with its muzzle. To do this, draw an oval above the middle of the sheet (Figure 1). Then we add the head and ears (Figure 2). Now you need to draw the dog's paws. Please note that the paws widen and become thicker towards the bottom.

We draw paws. Ask the child to take part in the process and draw three short lines - the animal’s fingers (Figure 3). Then add two semicircles. These will be the hind legs (Figure 4).

We connect the front legs with a short line, thereby completing the drawing of the body. Add a short ponytail. The silhouette of the animal is completed (Figure 5).

Let's move on to the muzzle. We mark oval eyes, a nose, a sweet smile. Add two curved lines – the puppy’s eyebrows (Figure 6).

Attention! Don't cover your eyes completely. Leave two white, unshaded circles. The pupils will be here.

We depict the nose in more detail. Here, too, you need to leave an unpainted spot-highlight. This will add liveliness to the dog. The dog coloring book is ready.

How to draw a playful dog

This image can be made very quickly. The sketch is simple, so part of the “work” can be entrusted to the young artist.

Step 1: Place the sheet diagonally and draw 6 identical circles at the bottom.

Step 2: Mark circles No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 to your child and ask him to draw two short parallel lines in each. The lines should be centered. These will be the dog's paws.

Stage 3: Above circle No. 2 and 3, draw the head of the animal in the form of a semi-oval.

Step 4: Use an arcuate line to connect the head to the last paw. This will be the torso.

Stage 5: Draw the tail. It can be long and shaggy, or short and perky, as in our picture.

At the last stage we draw the muzzle. Round nose, eyes with pupils, eyebrows and ears. The curious puppy is ready. All that remains is to color the drawing.

Realistic images

Thanks to the next master class, we will figure out how to draw a dog step by step with a pencil. Be patient, it may not work right away.

Stage 1. Using thin, light lines, without pressing the pencil lead into the sheet, draw two ovals. This will be the head and torso. Where the ovals touch each other we draw a small circle, marking the future muzzle. We draw blank lines for the paws.

Stage 2. The most difficult in the entire drawing, since here the head and muzzle of the animal are drawn. And here there are several very important rules on which the success of the “masterpiece” depends:

  1. The head should be in proportion to the size of the body. Don't be too big or too small.
  2. It is important to generally respect the proportions of body parts.

When drawing eyes, note that they are usually round. The shape of the pupils (dilated, constricted) and their location will determine the mood of the dog as a whole. A dog can carry any emotion: be angry, cunning, aggressive, sad, curious, and so on.

Stage 3. Using a soft pencil (2M) and a thick line, draw the outline of the body. We draw pads and claws on the paws. Don't forget to add a tail.

Stage 4. Erase the excess.

Stage 5. Finally, you can draw the fur, add shadows and shade. This will make the dog more realistic and lively.

Sketch by cells

Drawings using squares can be turned into a fun activity for the whole family. Dogs can be just pictures that need to be reproduced exactly, or in the form of graphic dictations. Such entertaining activities will help pass the time in line, during a long trip on public transport, or anywhere else. We offer master classes of varying complexity on how to draw a dog by square. Some of them are suitable for preschoolers 4-6 years old, and more complex ones are for older children and their parents. You can use either a squared notebook or graph paper.

Graphic dictation “Dog”

For such a dictation, you need to take a notebook sheet in a square, step back 6 squares from the top and left and start drawing.

Exercise:

Naughty hero

The favorite of many is the dog Scooby-Doo.

For experienced artists

The following step-by-step master class will teach your child how to draw a dog with a pencil in just 5 steps.

To make a portrait of a Spitz you will need:

  • sheet of paper;
  • simple pencils: H, B2, B4, B;
  • black pen;
  • sharpener;
  • eraser

Stage 1: draw the head.

Using a hard pencil H, draw the ears and fur along the outline of the pet. Focusing on the proportions indicated in the figure, we mark the muzzle. We mark where the Spitz's eyes, nose and mouth will be.

Stage 2: darken the face.

Using a black pen, shade the areas that will be the darkest. These are the nose, mouth, eye areas.

Stage 3: detailing the muzzle.

Using the softest pencil (B4 is best for these purposes) we draw the eyes, nose and protruding tongue.

Stage 4: designate the shadow.

We determine which side the “light source” will be on and, using a B2 pencil, draw the part of the fur on which the shadow will fall.

Stage 5: final

Use Soft B to finish drawing the rest of the fur. Pay attention to the direction of the fibers and the pressure with which the shading was performed. Spitz is ready.

Kennels for dogs: a variety of options and DIY construction

Owners of country houses are happy owners of peace and tranquility.

But there is no better guard and more loyal friend than a dog. And if you prefer a living creature to soulless equipment, then it is worth remembering that taking care of it will become your responsibility and duty.

Therefore, first you need to purchase or make a house for your pet yourself. Today we will tell you what a dog house can be like, how to choose the right parameters, what and how to make it with your own hands.

Choosing a dog house

Having once seen a dog kennel in the village, one thought came to mind: is it possible for a living creature to live in this? The rickety gray walls, holes in the roof, and the dirt around made me feel guilty towards the dog, whose devotion never weakened for a moment towards such irresponsible owners. But a dog is also a member of the family.

If you care about your pet, then you simply must provide him with a place in a good booth, where it is clean and warm. Today you can easily buy a ready-made design. However, first you need to choose the right size, because the dog should be comfortable and not cramped.

For small breeds (lap dogs), the length x width x height ratio should be at least 50 x 60 x 60 cm. However, we are more interested in large kennels for large dogs, because only they can cope with guarding the house. A dachshund can only scare a child.

For breeds such as Labrador or Shar Pei, a kennel of 70x100x80 cm is sufficient, but for a shepherd dog the dimensions should be larger - 110x130x100 cm. Your pet should fit freely in the kennel, and it should turn around in it without any hindrance.

To prevent it from being cold in winter, the doghouse must be insulated. Usually, for this purpose, various bedding is used on the floor, thermal insulation is laid between the ceiling and roof, and the walls are sheathed. A special curtain is hung on the aisle.

Today you can even find special floor heating pads on sale (they are rectangular panels). The price depends on the size and thickness and is in the range of 5500-6000 rubles.

The booth itself can be purchased for 6,000 rubles. It will be insulated (foam plastic), of the simplest design with a pitched roof. The walls are covered with clapboard, sizes may vary.

But there are models that are more expensive. For example, if the booth has a small terrace with a canopy, the price may increase by 2,000 rubles. and more.

The walls can be decorated with a blockhouse, and the gable roof can be covered with flexible tiles. This option will already cost about 10,000 rubles.

Some models are entire works of art. They are made to look like miniature country cottages. They have various decorative elements, for example, carved windows, forged railings. But the price of such a booth will not be small - 20,000-80,000 rubles.

In addition, the booth may have a walking area surrounded by a welded mesh or lattice.

Many providers offer additional services for a fee. This includes painting, installation of additional insulation, treatment of walls with protective compounds, delivery and installation.

However, you can make a dog kennel yourself. There is nothing complicated about this, it is enough to imagine the simplest design, and the finished booth can be decorated in accordance with your wishes and capabilities.

How to build a dog house with your own hands?

If you nevertheless decide to build a house for your pet yourself, then we will try to help you in this matter.

First you need to decide on the dimensions of the house. To find out the minimum sizes, you can measure your pet.

To do this, you need to make the following measurements:

  • the width of the hole should be 8 cm greater than the width of the dog’s chest, and the height - add 5 cm to the pet’s height at the withers;
  • The width of the booth should be equal to the length of the dog from nose to tip of the tail, the height and depth of the house should be equal to the height of the dog.

If desired, the resulting calculations can be increased. Below is an approximate drawing, which shows the individual elements of the booth, and a diagram of the assembly of the structure.

You, in turn, can draw your own sketch with your own dimensions. You can place the entrance not only as shown in the figure, but also on the long side, moving it in any direction from the center.

Now you need to select materials for making a dog kennel. It is better if they are natural and environmentally friendly. These parameters are fully met by wood, especially coniferous species - lining, boards, beams, slats, etc. You can also use bricks and blocks.

We will consider an option made of wood. You need to start assembling the booth from the base (bottom). We take two bars (40x40 mm, length equal to the width of the future house) and nail a floorboard onto them and turn them over. We install bars vertically in the corners and in the middle of each wall (100×100 mm, the length is equal to the height of the booth and add 45 mm), and in the place of the hole we attach two smaller bars. Here we already have a frame emerging.

The next stage is covering the frame with clapboard. When performing this work, make sure that all vertical guides are level and not tilted. Use nails with a small head, galvanized.

The bottom of the booth must be waterproofed and the bottom protected from mold. To do this, we treat the surface with a special compound to protect the wood from fungus. Then we fix the roofing material with a stapler and nail two bars that will serve as kind of legs and provide natural ventilation.

Inside it is necessary to provide insulation of the floor and walls. We cover the bottom with glassine, secure it with a stapler, then lay insulation and another layer of glassine. After this, you can nail the joists and lay a clean floor of boards, and attach a sheet of plywood on top. We insulate the walls according to the same principle as the floor. The joints between the walls and the floor must be sealed using fillets. Also make a frame for the opening and threshold.

Now we make the ceiling and roof. Moreover, they should be removable, because this way the kennel can be easily cleaned and disinfected, and the dog can be quickly taken out of there if something happens.

The ceiling must be insulated. First, we make a cover, which consists of a frame (we make it from 40x40 mm bars) and a sheet of plywood sewn onto it. Then we insulate it with foam plastic or mineral wool and sew it up with another sheet of plywood. To make it easier to remove the lid, we recommend attaching handles to it.

It will be as follows: in the corners of the house we drive pins into pre-drilled holes, in the gables we make holes for them. After this, we construct a sheathing from boards with outlets. We cover the roof with roofing felt and lay flexible tiles.

The last stage is the exterior finishing, which includes painting, applying decorative elements, etc. It is also advisable to attach a special curtain to the opening.

So our warm dog house is ready. In it, your pet will not freeze in winter and will not get wet in the rain.

Learn to draw a doghouse step by step with STABILO Trio A-Z colored markers.

Felt pens with a triangular grip area and a fine tip. For right-handers and left-handers.

The ergonomic shape of the grip zone develops the skill of holding a writing instrument correctly and prevents hand fatigue even during long-term work. The body of the felt-tip pens is decorated with the Latin alphabet and funny drawings; they will help in learning to draw and write.

STABILO Trio A-Z markers are holders of the German quality mark for toys, which confirms their highest quality and safety for health.

Line thickness 0.7 mm. Ventilated cap. Water-based ink is non-toxic, odorless, and can be easily washed off any type of fabric and washed off hands.

To draw a kennel, we use a simple pencil of medium hardness (HB), colored markers from Stabilo, and drawing paper. We depict the kennel in stages. We start by drawing a diagram on drawing paper and drawing out the details of the kennel. Then we make the drawing with colored felt-tip pens.

On a piece of drawing paper on the left, using a simple pencil, draw a square.

Above it we draw the angle of the roof line.

To the right of the lower corner of the square and the ends of the right roof line, draw identical straight parallel lines.

We connect their ends with a vertical and inclined line.

We got a schematic representation of the kennel.

Parallel to the vertical lines in the first square, draw the entrance with two vertical lines connected by an arc. Draw a round window above the entrance.

We draw lines of boards parallel to the lines of the bottom of the kennel.

We outline all the lines with a brown felt-tip pen.

Shade the boards of the kennel with a light brown felt-tip pen.

Use a light gray felt-tip pen to shade the roof and the bottom of the kennel. We outline the outline with a dark brown felt-tip pen and darken the lower edge of the roof and its thickness.

We mark the carnations in the corners with dots.
