Xanthinol nicotinate tablets are taken orally. During administration, they cannot be kneaded, ground into powder, broken or chewed; they are swallowed whole, washed down with a small amount of water.

You need to take 150 mg of the drug 3 times per day. Sometimes in serious cases, a single dose is increased to 300-600 mg.

If positive dynamics are observed, the dosage level is gradually reduced. The period of therapeutic treatment is from 2 months.

How to use the medicine in the form of a solution?

By intramuscular administration, the medicine is administered in the form of a 15% solution, 2-6 ml per day. The course of therapy is 2-3 weeks.

The drug is administered intravenously by jet method 1-2 times in 24 hours, 2 ml. A 15% solution is introduced. During the administration period, the patient must be placed on a couch. The duration of treatment is from 5 to 10 days.

The drug is also administered using intravenous drip injections. To do this, dilute 10 ml of a 15% solution of Xanthinol nicotinate in a 0.9% hydrochloride solution (200 ml) or in a dextrose solution (5% 200-500 ml). Using the drip method, the medication is administered at a rate of 40-50 drops in 60 seconds.

In the presence of acute disorders of the blood supply to tissues, the drug is prescribed in the form of tablets together with injections. The medicine in tablet form is taken 300 mg three times a day.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, it is contraindicated to take Xanthinol nicotinate in any form in the first trimester; in the second and third trimester, the drug is taken only if absolutely necessary under the supervision of a doctor. When breastfeeding, taking the drug is prohibited.

Cases of overdose and adverse reactions

When using the drug in large doses over a long period, this can lead to hyperuricemia, increased levels of liver enzymes, and changes in glucose tolerance. In case of overdose, the following symptoms are observed:
