To protect him from sin, Saint Nicholas threw a small bundle containing gold coins into the open window of the house for three days in a row. The father of the family was incredibly happy and counted the rich gifts as help from Heaven.

During a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, the ship on which the Saint was sailing along with other passengers was caught in a terrible storm.
