Firstly, the Academy is conveniently located right on the banks of the Neva and, at the same time, is a 3-minute walk from the metro. My room looked directly onto the embankment. I lived in the hotel in late autumn, but if it were summer, then right from the room you could see the opening of several bridges at once: Alexander Nevsky and Bolsheokhtinsky. In addition, the windows offer a beautiful view of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
The hotel is located on several floors of a large Stalinist building. The other floors are occupied by the outpatient department, the hospital department and various departments of the medical academy. There is own parking for guests and staff. On the ground floor, in addition to the reception and administration, there is also a small cafe or dining room. The food here is quite edible, but without any frills. The cafe closes at eight in the evening. You can choose from a buffet breakfast or order something from the menu. Breakfast will cost 150-250 rubles, and dinner or lunch 250-350 rubles.
The hotel rooms are different, but all of them, even the simplest ones, are clean, tidy, with new furniture and quite spacious. We lived on a floor with standard double rooms. On one side of the corridor the rooms were decorated in blue-blue tones, and on the other in brownish-beige. Standard rooms have a fairly spacious wardrobe, beds with orthopedic mattresses, several bedside tables, a desk, a small refrigerator, TV, air conditioning, shower and toilet. The window sills really amazed us. Their depth is almost a meter. So they are convenient to use as a shelf.
The use of kettles in the room is prohibited, but this is not necessary. There is a free cooler with artesian water in the corridor. Smoking is not allowed in the rooms, but all conditions have been created for this in the lobby. There are comfortable sofas and tables. In the evening, everything is illuminated with a pleasant, dim light. So it’s nice to sit here with guests. You can get to your floor either by a beautiful old staircase or by one of two elevators. All this together makes a very pleasant impression. As a rule, doctors who come to seminars and conferences settle here. The cost of a standard double room with breakfast in November was only 2500 rubles. During the season, unlike other hotels, the price increases by only 100-300 rubles. In my opinion, this is one of the best hotels in the city for intelligent people who do not want to throw money away.
